Seeing the chaos outside the hotel made the scene in the place feel tense. People preferred hiding inside their rooms, not letting the robbers in.
The same thing happened to Seth and Mia. They stood alertly at the door, even though it was locked and blocked by the sofa.
Seth's right hand removed the gun from its holster, pointing it before him. Mia was still concerned, her heart beating faster than ever because, according to Seth's explanation, tonight was the night she would die.
"One important rule that exists in this world. Never attack a Skywatcher, no matter what. If they see you attack, they will not hesitate to kill you," Seth said.
"Is that why I died?" asked Mia.
Seth was silent momentarily, his mouth seemingly locked by an iron padlock to answer Mia's question. The woman understood clearly, especially given Seth's current silent response.
"I won't attack them," Mia replied firmly.
"I'm glad to hear that," Seth said.
A pain-filled scream echoed out, shaking the entire room with unrelenting fear. Mia shuddered further in fear, slumping behind Seth's back with her face fully buried.
"OPEN THE DOOR!" someone shouted.
The man banged hard on the wooden door of Seth and Mia's room. The banging sound was fast and hard like he was being chased by something lethal to him. Seth's left hand went behind his back, guarding Mia from whatever might happen to her tonight.
"AAAKH!"
The hotel corridor was now crowded with the sounds of people yelling. They could not avoid the Skywatchers' threats; many were injured and dead.
Seth and Mia stayed in the room for an hour until the situation became favorable. Even so, Seth told Mia not to open the door immediately.
"That door will be closed until it's completely safe. We don't want a bad situation to happen when that door is open," Seth said.
"I'll do as you say," Mia replied.
Seth told Mia to start eating the previously warmed food, while Seth would eat it right after the Skywatchers returned to their spaceship.
"So, you know a lot about this world already, Seth?" asked Mia, starting the conversation between the two.
"You could say that. I've been living this life for decades. I can even reach the highest floor, the 78th floor," said Seth.
He was still on his feet, pacing back and forth towards the doors and windows of the room, seeing if the situation was completely safe or not. Mia was shocked, never expecting that Seth had gone through all those floors up to the 78th floor, 22 more floors to get to the highest floor to set humanity free.
"Woah, I didn't expect you to reach that floor. Did you do it alone or with your group?" Mia asked.
"From the 50th floor onwards, every survivor is recommended to have a group because most of the games are in teams," Seth replied.
"Is going solo really that hard if you reach the 50th floor or so?" asked Mia.
"I've played solo on 10 floors since the 50th floor, and I have to admit, the levels are tough," Seth replied.
"But we have to be realistic. You won't be able to complete 100 floors by yourself. You should at least have a friend to protect you when you're struggling," Seth explained.
Mia nodded. The beef meal in her iron bowl was gone. Mia enjoyed the meal so much that she accidentally burped while Seth was monitoring.
"Sorry," Mia whimpered, her face turning bright red.
"Haha, it's okay. It's a sign that you enjoyed the food," Seth said.
Seth's steps froze when he arrived at the window of the room. He opened the curtains and saw the Skywatcher ships begin to fly away, not one, but all of their spaceships leaving and returning to their base in the city sky.
"They're leaving," Seth replied.
"Thank goodness. I thought this suspense would continue until sunrise," Mia said, her heart relieved by what had happened, especially when Seth said that the situation was becoming safe.
Seth could breathe a sigh of relief. He holstered his pistol with his eyes still out the window. Even though it was dark, he saw organs scattered on the city streets.
"They were completely slaughtered by the Skywatchers," Seth said.
The curious Mia began to leave the bed where she was waiting. She walked up to Seth with Mia's eyes looking down in the same direction as Seth.
"What did you see? I can't really see anything down there," Mia explained.
"It's a little hard to see in the dark. However, it's best if you don't see it clearly," Seth replied.
Seth turned his body around, walking towards the previously locked wooden door. The man pulled out a long sofa, unlocked the door, and opened it cautiously.
Seth's eyes found the hotel corridor floor covered in bloodstains, with several organs scattered about. A horrifying sight for anyone who saw it, Mia accidentally looked outside.
"Wh-What ... happened?" asked Mia, shuddering with worry.
"Skywatchers are shooting at them with no mercy. The bodies of the criminals seem to be taken for something I don't know," said Seth.
"The sight of it makes me sick," complained Mia, returning inside with the wooden door firmly closed.
Seth himself was still in the corridor, walking down from end to end until his footsteps stopped when a door opened, precisely the door before Mia's room.
A young newlywed man came out wearing only a simple suit of clothes, sleeping pajamas. He was as surprised as Mia was, but the man wasn't as nauseous.
"What happened?" the man asked, confused.
"Arcada robbed the merchants by the hotel. The Skywatchers hunted them down until this whole mess happened," Seth replied.
"Arcada? The criminal survivor group?" asked the man. He knew a few things about Arcada.
Seth answered the question only with a slow nod, clearing his throat as he crouched over a pool of blood that was beginning to be swarmed by flies. The Skywatcher seemed to have taken only the main body. The other scattered organs were not taken, such as the kidneys, liver, and intestines.
"We have to tell this to the others," the man explained. Seth held back.
"Are you mad? It's already late. You want to cause panic among them. Let them stay in the dark. We'll clear the place quickly," Seth said.
"Wake up your wife. We'll wash the floor together until morning; the people here wouldn't notice!"
Seeing Seth's firm attitude, the man was forced to obey what the man said. After all, in his opinion, what Seth said was right. There would be a big panic when they saw intestines, kidneys, and other human organs scattered there.
They might think of one thing if Seth and the man didn't clean it up: the suspicion of a killer in the VIP rooms.
Seth walked over to Mia's room, opened the door, and saw the woman still at the sink, seemingly having just finished vomiting.
"I hope you can hold it in a little longer," Seth pleaded.
"Why?" asked Mia flatly.
"I want you to help me clean all of this up," Seth invited, smiling as he pointed towards the corridor that had made Mia vomit.
Her face contorted, her eyebrows swooped sharply with a serious look fixed on Seth, "I refuse!"
