The spacious hall was occupied by the furnished tables and chairs with a beautiful interior design, lit up by the fancy bulbs hanging on the ceiling.
There was hint of life in the hall by the fascinating melodies playing from the violin and piano. At the right side of the fascinated hall, a twenty-two years old lady occupied one of the seats but she didn't appeared to be intrigued by the sweet melody.
Kaylee Ashton looked nervous. Her eyes toasted to the other side of the transparent glass when it fell on the beautiful city scenery that glimmer its light in the darkness.
Her eyes couldn't stop looking at the outside view while waiting patiently for that person to arrive soon. She looked away from the city scenery and picked up her cell phone from the table to check what time it was now. it was 8:37 PM.Â
She had an unblemished face, thin dark eyebrows, small round eyes with brown pupils, button nose and her small heart-shaped cherry lips that was painted to it's color. Her fair skin was nurtured properly and appeared flawless like that of an inside oyster.
Kaylee dressed in a short red sequin gown, her hair packed into a loose big bun in the center of her head that made her look gorgeous.
She lowered her gaze to the necklace that had a crystal pendant that hung down on her neck. It was a real diamond! Given to her by her partner.
She raised her hand to caress the necklace with an adorable smile that twirled up her lips.
Suddenly, the door slammed open when someone walked in.
With a pretty smile, she stared at the person who was walking toward her.
She noticed a irritated expression on his face as he approached her. The smile on her lips dissipated. "What took you so long, Babe?"
He said nothing but his red eyes stared at her for a short time. "Are you alright now?"
Kaylee smiled again. "Yes, I'm fine now but I still feel a little dizzy and tired." She realized, he was still standing as she said. "Please sit, babe. Let's start our date. I have waited a long time for this, also I can't wait for us to graduate and fulfill our promises. It's been stressful in those years." She grinned at him.
Jaxon turned irritated at her words. "Yes it has been stressful and I am going through it so bad."
Jaxon eyes met with the people playing the melodious tone. He signaled them to leave as they complied.
Seeing how Jaxon dismissed them, Kaylee became muddle-headed with a bad feeling about what was about to unfold. She didn't stop observing his expression, he appeared pathetic and his voice sounded distressed.Â
Kaylee stood up. "You don't look happy, Babe. Why ask them to leave? Did something happen?"
"Yes, something terrible happened! Bad news for that!" Yelled, Jaxon with a sour expression as if he wanted to toppled on her because of how calm she was.
Her shoulder trembled at his loud angry voice. Kaylee knows Jaxon for three years now and she had never seen him in this kind of mood nor for him to raise his voice at her.
Just as her heart was soft like a child, her eyes became moist, rolling side to side into his eyes in a terrified state. "J-jaxon w-what happened to you?" Her voice was shaky.
Jaxon's eyes darkened. "I'm going crazy, Kaylee! This is driving me nuts! I don't think I'm going to continue this relationship with you or fulfill your expectations after knowing about the result!"
Fear gripped her heart at his words with a perplexed face. "What do you mean by not going to live happy with me? Are you planning to leave?"
There was no reply.
"What are you saying?" She lowered her gaze to the paper in his hands. "What results are you talking about?"
Jaxon said nothing. Has she not learned about the result yet or is she pretending not to know about it? He couldn't tell.
His eyes didn't glance away from Kaylee all this while. He held out the brown envelope in his hand which he had brought with him.
Kaylee was nervous, staring at the brown paper for a short time before she collected it from his hand still stretched out. She glanced at Jaxon first and then unsealed the envelope.Â
"You told me that, you have been sick for three weeks and I requested you to visit the hospital for a test. Now, the result of the test is positive. It said you are pregnant Kaylee. How is that possible?" He scoffed and rolled his eyes in disgust to the other side of the hall.
Kaylee's hands trembled with the paper, bewildered at the words written on the paper.
"This can't be possible! No, it can't be!" She muttered. The fact written on the paper was difficult for her to accept perhaps it was fabricated. Even if she was pregnant, it should be for him.
Jaxon could remember that in the past two months there was no intimacy between them as he was away from her.
He shifted his eyes back at her and saw how shocked she was. Is she not aware of it but still it doesn't matter now? A sin had been committed and it can't be forgiven.
He moved closer to her, grabbed her arms roughly. She winced in pain as she felt the grip tightening at each passing minute and felt her bone was crunching, slowly.
"All this happened because of your foolish and selfish act. You wanted to party with your friends but I wasn't in support of it. You persuaded me and I approved. Never did I know you were going to have a one-night stand with a random guy." He said in a low tone while he tried to stay calm.
Suddenly, Jaxon seemed to be out of control as he tightened his grip than earlier. "What the fuck are you looking for in a club! And ended up becoming a victim! Why did your friends return untouched huh!? Why Kaylee!? Why did this to me!?"Â He roared like a wounded tiger.
Kaylee's eyes went shut tightly, trembling at each of his sentences that pierced deeply into her heart. "It's hurting, Jaxon. It hurts. Please stop." She cried silently. Her other hand tried to loosen his grip but it fell futile.
She opened her teary eyes, quiver in pain by his grip and sincerely apologized. "I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry Jaxon. I know I have hurt you and I'm still sorry. I was drunk that night and didn't know what happened after that. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry." Kaylee tried again to free herself from his powerful grip, still it fell through.
Her arm would be broken by his strong grip in next the minutes if he continues. She wanted this physical pain to be ease and breath out freely for a second. She couldn't hold her breathe anymore, she gasped for breathe as tears stroked down her cheeks.
Her sobbing made him realized he was physically assaulting her. However, he can't let himself to be fooled by her words and tears. Whether it was true or not, a sin had been committed and would never be forgiven.
He let go of her arm without a remorse expression for his act. "No! You actually wanted this! It seems I'm not able to satisfy you on the bed so you thought of going to those random guys out there to satisfy you!" Staring at her innocent face made him furious. "It was only two months I left and you couldn't wait for me!? Who knows you have done this before?!"
"You have to get rid of that thing in there or forget about me." He demanded, pointing at her flat tummy.
Kaylee's eyes went wide open. "What did you say, Jaxon?"
Jaxon ruffled his head, uneased. "Kaylee, will you stop this your naive act, huh?" He asked with a furrowed eyebrows. "Should I repeat myself? Fine then. You have to choose between me or that thing in there. Get rid of it else we go our separate ways."
After saying this, the hall fell into a sudden eerie silence once more.
He stared at Kaylee who had her head hung down, wiping and sobbing silently. He took a deep breath before he went closer and placed his hands on her shoulder to convince her. "Trust me, Kaylee. We're gonna be fine without that thing. Don't try to think too much about it. I can't stand your presence when that thing is in your tummy. Once we get married, we will have our own babies and become a happy family."
Jaxon wasn't sure if he would end up with her but he can't let his opposed heart expose. He knows how much Kaylee loves him and she couldn't live without him so she will do as he says.
Kaylee raised a gaze at him. She could not tell why his promise he made now sounded empty in her ears and felt void in her heart.
Although, the baby wasn't something she plan for. It was one of her dreams to become a best mother to her child and create so many memories with her first baby when the right time comes. This is a great blessing some people out there in the world didn't have, now she had it. She can't let anything snatch it from her even though the baby came from a unexpected way.
A bitter smile settled on Kaylee's lips. "I can't do it. I won't get rid of my child." She shook her head.
He narrowed his eyebrows at her reply. "Why?"
"I'm sorry, Jaxon. I can't kill an innocent baby. The baby will grow my stomach." Kaylee placed her hands on her flat tummy as if she was feeling the live of the little one in her stomach.
He brought down his hands from her shoulder when a sarcastic laugh escaped his lips. "So you choose that bastard over me?" His disgustful gaze fell on her stomach again.
"Not Jaxon. Don't get me wrong. It is against my believe to kill a baby rather a human. Please let's keep the baby. I'm going to take care of the baby's responsibilities. I promise I won't ask you for your support." She cried and pleaded with hope of his acceptance glimmering in her eyes.
"Are you sure about this? You just started your acting career and became popular in a short time. Will you let that thing ruin everything?"
"Not a thing! A baby!" Kaylee yelled softly. She was fed up with his ill words about her baby.Â
