"Let go--I said let go of me..."
While she was still lashing out at him brazenly, the man sealed her lips with a kiss mid-sentence.
Caught off guard, Miley gasped against his mouth before shutting her eyes, recoiling at the suddenness of his action. Dexter trapped his arms around her waist, pressing her closer to him. He then put his other hand on the back of her head, leaning in and deepening the kiss.
His kisses grew more and more intense with each passing second. The way his lips move against hers is a bit rough and ferocious - almost desperate to convey a certain emotion that even he wasn't aware of.
All Miley could do at this point was grip the man's shirt, struggling to squirm around and pull away but to no avail.
Instantly, blood flowed from his lips and Dexter tasted it on his tongue.
"Miley Hudson, are you a dog? Why did you bite me?"
"Get away!" Overwhelmed with anger, she shoved him away. "You crazy!" she taunted menacingly before wiping her mouth in disgust.
Dexter was actually in a bad mood today. When he returned to his office earlier, he had a video conference with Tristan. Then he called for a meeting several times because he was not satisfied with the plans presented by his subordinates. He asked them to revise their presentations until he finally found them acceptable. As a result, all of them had to work overtime. When he came home, Tina told him that Miley was not home yet, so he got angrier.
After taking a shower, Dexter decided to go downstairs. He heard a loud noise coming from the kitchen, so he got curious.
He pushed the kitchen door open and walked in. On the floor, Miley lay with her eyes closed and a glass in her hand. It seemed that she was unconscious.
"Miley!" He called her name loudly. However, she didn't respond.
Dexter walked up to Miley and looked down. "Miley!" He squatted down and patted her on the face. But still, there was no response.
"What happened to Miss Miley?" Tina also heard the noise, so she rushed to the kitchen. She was still in shock to see the scene and she blurted out.
"Her face is so red. Did she have a fever?" she muttered subconsciously.
Dexter reached out his hand and touched her forehead. She was so hot that he felt like his hand was scalded. It startled him. He quickly picked her up and walked out of the kitchen.
Before he took her upstairs, he turned to Tina and said, "Aunt Tina, call Kelvin to come immediately."
----
Miley lay on the bed, sweating nervously. with a thermometer in hand, Kelvin stood at the edge of the bed. He turned his head to look at Dexter, who was standing with his arms crossed against his chest.
"She is running a high fever. I need to give her an injection to bring it down." Dexter nodded indifferently. Kelvin reached into his medical box and began preparing the injection.
While he pulled the solution into the syringe, he remarked, "I understand that there is some tension between you two. If you really didn't care for her, you didn't have to call me here."
"Kelvin, since when have you started indulging in such nonsense? I asked you to come here to check her. You will be the one to blame if she does."
"She won't die." Kelvin injected the syringe into Miley's arm. She took it quite well. Her eyes were closed. She did not stir, nor did she wince.
Dexter kept silent, exhaling loudly. The more he looked at her face, the more annoyed he got.
"Miley's fever should be gone in some time. She should rest well for at least two days. I will have to leave now. She has a drip attached to her wihat. Can you pull it out when it's done! If you can't, I'll ask Aunt Tina to do it," said Kelvin as he packed his bag.
"The IV bag should be done in about half an hour and the needle needs to be pulled out by then. Make sure you do it in time, any later and there would be blood."
"When did you become so long-winded, Kelvin?" Dexter was impatient. He could not wait for him to leave.
"Dexter, Why are you so angry today?"
"Aunt Tina, see the guest out!" Dexter suddenly exclaimed.
"Kelvin, please." Aunt Tina appeared quickly, and showed Kelvin the way.
"Thank you, Aunt. Call me if you need Anything." Kelvin walked out instantly.
Dexter and Miley were the only two people in the room now. Perhaps because of the fever. Miley's beautiful face was Iushed. Her cheeks were red, making her look cute.
Kelvin had not been able to tell the cause for Miley's fever. He too had no idea how she had fallen sick.
"Did I act so rough to her?"
Could it be that this was her strategy to gain his sympathy?
