Chapter 10 - New resolution

Drake said in irritation,

[Hey stop there, no need to go suicidal there. Don't commit suicide.]

Kane went blank at this response and then he started laughing.

[hahaha you are something else, Drake. You know what fck my dream of a peaceful life? Two years long betting was enough for me to realize that I was not born for peace. Forget the simple life, no fun it that, let's get strong enough to create chaos. Haha, we have to show them what is true terror. Let's live with fun man.]

Drake smiled, < yeah let enjoy our self.>

This was a declaration from both of them. A declaration to move forward no matter what.

With the new determination in his eyes, Drake sat staring at his chair, waiting for Alex to come back.

After an hour, Alex entered back into the hall while rubbing his forehead. It surprised him to see Drake sitting there with no emotion on his face. This increased his headaches, and he said, "Drake, right?"

Drake nodded. "Yes."

"So, Drake, the thing is, I don't know what's going on with you, but you cannot attend this special class. You are in an awful situation, and the family is not willing to spoil others' time because of one person." Alex looked up, expecting sadness, but to his surprise, Drake still had that poker face.

Drake said in the same monotone voice, "Okay."

Alex rubbed his forehead in irritation and said, "But as you are part of the family, we can't just send you to the academy with no knowledge at all. Now, the only option we have is to assign you a special teacher who will tell you all the basics, but finding a teacher will take at least a day, and tomorrow you will only have an hour or two at most if you choose not to attend the 2nd special lecture. In that low time, I don't think any teacher can teach you much."

"Mm."

"Now I don't know what to do in this situation. As the organizer of this year's special session, you can ask me for any help, but there is a time limit of 1 hour."

"Oh, something like one hour, one-to-one session."

"Yup, and I advise you to have this one-hour session after the family dinner. Till that time, let me give you some books on the basics," Alex took out one thick book after another and created a pile of 8-9 thick books next to his chair. "These books will be sufficient to give you basic ideas. Remember, you are not allowed to take any books into the academy, so you only have around a day. It's all up to you now." After saying all that, Alex rushed out of the room.

Drake said, "Sigh, so much fake care."

[Yeah, that guy knows it's impossible for you to complete a single book when you've never read a single book in your entire life. Fret not, Drake, you have me. If we spend the entire time reading, I think we could complete 4 books. But maybe we might not need to read any books at all.]

< ah what do you mean by that?>

[Wait for some time. I will explain everything to you later. For now, let's see what kind of book we have first.] From everything going around them, Kane's suspiciousness of them in the novel 'Rise of Legendary Hero' increased. Still, there was a Key piece of information missing that he hoped these books would help to solve.

Drake nodded and asked, < so what to do then?>

[Let's start with the language. Check the all titles and first pages of the books. There is a possibility that the guy gave us the books that you can't even understand.]

Following Kane's instructions, he read the first page of all 9 books and was relieved to find that all of them were in a common language that he understood.

[Good, a great start. Out of these 9 books, there are 2 books on history, one book on politics, 2 books on mana, 1 book on spirit, and the last three books on spear-wielding, war, and the academy. Well, if the information inside the books is correct, then these books should tell what I wanted to know.]

[Let's start with mana on one side. You will read this book and remember you have to find out about this mana affinity thing. Skipped everything else for now. On the other side, I will focus on spirit. Let's see what we are dealing with.]

Drake did not know what Kane wanted to know, but he followed the lead and opened the first mana book on his left side while the spirit book was on his right side.

With the dual vision, they could focus on 2 things at a time, so it was better to divide the work. He focused on the left book leaving write one for Kane.

Time passed.

[Next] With the inner voice, he changed the next page of the spirit book while scrolling through the content of the mana book. Not finding anything related to man affinity, he turned the page.

[Next] With Kane's voice, he once again turned the spirit book page.

Both of his hands continued to turn the pages of the book. Half an hour passed, but he still had found nothing related to mana affinity.

The problem was the mana book was not purely informative, but a book full of lore and stories about how mysterious and powerful the mana is.

There were multiple assumptions and contradictions in the book. It feels like someone who knew nothing about mana wrote this book. It must be the book for commoners who knew nothing about the mana, complete garbage for him, but still better than nothing.

Kane said at this time, [Found it!]
