Chapter 11 - Rise and Fall

Huff! Huff!

Kopi puffed breath, his vision bleared, and his sank shoulder resulted in his sluggish movements.

People passing by shot a bizarre stare before focusing on their daily lives.

Nothing new about Kopi's condition in this place.

His skeletal framework, emaciated face, and lethargic movements were a natural appearance of someone dying.

Although it would be alarming if he died, people could just get rid of the corpse and continue on with their lives.

Yes, even if it would disturb their mental health.

Kopi's vision was so bleary he couldn't even distinguish between which and which.

He couldn't even tell if someone walking in his direction was a man or a woman and if he would bump into her.

Regardless, Kopi continued to walk, believing the man or woman would be sensible to avoid him.

However…

His body came to a staggering halt after colliding with what seemed to be a wall.

His vision darkened, but he forced himself to stay awake.

He could finally inspect the object or appear to be a person who bumped into him.

He motioned his head upward, sensing that the person was taller than him.

And he was shocked… It wasn't the wall or a man with a bulky build.

But it was a woman with three heads…

Of course, it was only his vision that was playing with him.

Aside from the familiar uniform of the woman, her face was indistinct.

But what part was eye catchy was her massive melons centimeters closer to his eyes.

If Kopi was not wrong, he must have collided with them.

"Uy, kid," the feminine yet strangely manly voice echoed towards him.

He tilted his head upward again – after scrutinizing the mamma – and met her gaze.

Right now, her scarlet eyes were clearing his mind and perceptions, and it also brought… apprehension.

It was more intense than the bald middle-aged man he met earlier.

The woman's gaze alone instilled a chill in his soul.

"You seem to be on your deathbed. What is the reason?"

For unknown reasons, her voice somewhat calmed Kopi's emotions.

Kopi was now lucid; his lower lip had regrown and the trauma had long vanished.

He opened his mouth and stuttered as he replied, "I-I… work all night."

The woman tilted her head a bit, confused by his statements.

Kopi gulped and hurriedly elucidated, "I created a burial the whole night-"

But it was too late.

He failed to refrain from telling the truth, for his mind had been muddled by the fear that the woman brought alone by her gaze.

Kopi placed both of his hands on his mouth and agitatedly slid his vision to meet the scarlet eyes again.

For some reason, it was not only the scarlet eyes that shook his soul but her whole being.

There was a distinct palpable crimson energy radiated from the woman, and his fear intensified from it.

Kopi was not even aware his whole frame was trembling excessively.

His mind turned into chaos.

Once again, the woman's voice echoed, but it wasn't the same as before.

It was more terrifying and chilling…

"And whose burial was it?"

Appearing like her voice contained mental inducement, Kopi replied honestly without hesitation.

"I-It… It was a brother of mine on the brink of death. I was forced by someone…"

When he recalled the image of the bald middle-aged man, his emotions went wild.

The urge to share his sentiment with the woman, who seemed to be stronger than the bald middle-aged man, emerged.

"T-They tortured him to death. However, I promised to him.

His death will not remain unjust.

I swear to take revenge…"

His voice carried vast and mixed emotions, but his resolute countenance elucidated everything.

The woman with scarlet eyes turned quiet, and their atmosphere descended to silence.

Kopi was still bound to his own world and didn't even notice that the palpable crimson energy the woman was releasing slowly retracted.

It was then… he perceived his vision returned to normal.

He could finally think clearly.

His butt fell to the floor and puffed with breath.

He didn't know what had happened.

He might, but his mind was only jumbled.

Furthermore, the fact that he was already deadbeat made him last no longer.

He lost consciousness, and his relaxed muscles were affected by the gravity, plummeting sideways.

However, before his body completely collided with the ground, an arm prevented it from happening.

It was the woman's arm with a sleeve connected to her uniform.

The woman with scarlet eyes scrutinized Kopi's condition.

"He really did overwork himself," she mumbled as she stared at his hands.

She was puzzled soon, however.

"But why is there no injury or even wound? The skin on his hand is fresh, aside from the grime.

Is it related to his Gifts?"

The woman wondered.

"It's a pity that I haven't ascended yet. If I did, I could scrutinize this child's core."

The woman shook her head with pity as she stood up while carrying Kopi's body with just one arm.

She didn't seem to care about the dirt tainting her neat sleeve.

The woman thought of something to do with the child.

After hesitating, she had finally concluded.

"I will return him to the police station for now. Since I'm already done with my inspections anyway."

She turned her back and began to walk from where she came from.

Afterward, the deserted streets changed.

Numerous heads began to pop up from the block, and they stared in a single direction.

It was the woman.

Abnormally, they were trembling while staring at the woman.

Their actions contradicted their appearance and backgrounds.

They had tattoos all over their body, and frightening bearings were eye-catching.

Yet now, they were quivering in terror while gazing at the woman.

Meanwhile, the woman sensed them but could only be careless about it.

Ambling to her place, her eyes landed on the young man, seemingly suffering from malnutrition, and wondered.

'At such a young age, he witnessed death. However, it may become the reason for him to become stronger.'

The woman shook her head helplessly.

'It can be his rise…

Or fall."
