After a while, Rael finished killing all the prisoners inside this area; he then proceeded to go to other places and see if there were more people there.
He saw that every prisoner gave him a different amount of XP, depending on their condition.
The biggest surprise for him, though, was that some of the prisoners became something different. They weren't humans anymore but zombies.
Red eyes, decaying skin, and they also couldn't talk at all. It could be said that zombies weren't only dangerous but also stupid.
At least for Rael, he managed to easily kill some zombies he found inside the cells.
"It's like in those movies. Not that I mind it; it's more fun this way. I only hope they will evolve at some point in time."
Smiling as he finished thinking, Rael was about to walk away when he saw the last message from his System.
(Congratulations! You received an Uncommon Drop!)
[Uncommon Sword]: Adds 3 Strength, 2 Stamina, 1 Agility.
"Ohh! Look at this!" Accessing his Inventory, Rael found a sword there. Clicking on it, something weird happened.
With a flash of light, the Uncommon Sword appeared in his hand.
"Damn! That's so cool!" His eyes gleamed looking at the sharp weapon in his hand, for a while, all sorts of thoughts filled his mind.
He couldn't decide if killing people would be easier if he slashed or stabbed them.
Growl…
Suddenly, Rael's stomach churned; he used a lot of energy while moving around, especially considering that he only ate half a slice of bread every two or three days.
"Hmm, I should find some food first. I can't kill with an empty stomach."
Keeping his sword in hand, Rael was casually walking down the hallway; he wanted to go to the canteen and see if there was some free food there.
"Oh? Interesting." He stopped in his tracks when hearing gunshot noises outside. Checking his level again, Rael was surprised to see that he was Level 5 now.
"So I have 9 APs… Let's put them into Agility and Perception."
Using 4 APs for Perception, the attribute reached 20 points. For a reason, Rael felt the world around him changing a bit. Everything felt clearer to him now, and his senses were also sharper than before.
The other 5 APs were quickly added to Agility, bringing it to an impressive 19, making it his second-highest stat.
'Let's test this...'
Slowly opening the door, Rael saw some guards about 30 meters from him, firing at a group of zombies that seemed to unite forces.
'So they're smart enough to ally themselves against a common enemy. They may not act only on instinct like I thought. Instead, there must be some other form of communication between them.'
'A pity that zombies won't drop Experience if killed with a gun. Maybe if there's a gun received from a drop? I'll have to test that out later. For now, my sword is enough.'
As the guards were 30 meters with their backs turned to him, Rael decided to take advantage of the situation and reap—Ahem! And kindly help the poor souls.
Since the noise from the gunshots was very loud, Rael successfully covered the distance between him and the prison guards; he was now standing behind them.
"Thanks for the Experience!"
Hearing an unknown voice behind them, the six guards froze in their place. Before they could turn around and take a look, the sound of the wind could be heard.
Swish Swish Swish! Rael nimbly moved between the unprepared guards and swiftly reaped three lives.
When the other guards reacted, they tried to turn around and shoot Rael, but the zombies didn't give them any chance.
Facing the zombies and having their backs exposed to Rael was the doom of these guards.
In a matter of seconds, they all died.
Unfortunately for Rael, he only managed to kill four of the guards; the other two were killed by the zombies.
"You mother..." Rael stopped seeing this; he was seething with fury seeing his experience stolen by those zombies.
Not saying anything, Rael dashed forward in the midst of the zombies, and using his speed, they didn't even know how they died.
There were nine zombies that fell under his sword in a couple of minutes.
"You fuckers... Do you have any idea how hard it is to get experience?! Shit..."
Venting his frustration for a while, Rael saw that he managed to level up; he was now Level 6 and had another 3 APs to use.
Quickly adding them to Agility, Strength, and Stamina, Rael was disappointed to see that so many people and zombies didn't drop any item for him.
'The drop rate should be very low; it's like a game, but the setting must be on hard mode.'
Willing his System to appear in front of his eyes, Rael was happy to see it was different from the beginning.

'Yup, it's much better now.' Grinning like a fool, Rael continued on his way; he wanted to find that damn canteen and eat already.
Guessing that the (+) after the stats was because of his weapon, Rael was excited at the prospect of acquiring more weapons, or even armors and stuff like that.
'But wait a second, if this is a setting just like a game, why is there no mana or something similar?' Frowning as he thought of this, Rael didn't give it much thought.
He was too happy about his power-ups, so nothing else mattered right now. Other than a single thing, food.
Even if he saw that his body was in top condition every time he leveled up, his hunger and mental exhaustion persisted.
The other thing that bothered him was the experience that was quite hard to get; the guards he killed before only gave him 25 XP, completely different from Daniel who gave him 50 XP in the beginning.
Rael guessed that every time he leveled up, those 'low-level' people or zombies would give him less and less experience.
'Until reaching the point of not giving me any experience at all.'
Walking for half an hour, Rael encountered dozens of guards and zombies; it was a pity that they only increased his XP by 2000 or so.
Finally reaching the canteen, the first thing that he noticed was the fact that there were a few people hiding there.
As Rael's Perception was as high as 20, he understood that his senses were on another level compared to normal humans. In fact, probably not even dogs or cats could hear or smell better than him.
"You can get out. I'm a normal human being," said Rael, as to announce his presence inside the canteen.
"Who are you?" A masculine voice asked after Rael finished speaking.
"I'm Rael,' he introduced himself.
"Rael? I've never heard of you."
"It's normal to not have heard of me. I'm a fresh guard after all. I only began two days ago, guarding the solitary confinement rooms."
Lying through his teeth, Rael didn't feel anything wrong with it. If he could convince these prey that he was harmless, maybe there would be some benefits for him.
Like using them as meat shields if some powerful zombie appeared or something...
