Chereads / Apocalypse: Rising of Chaos / Chapter 7 - Dangerous Situation 2

Chapter 7 - Dangerous Situation 2

As Rael and Maria left the medical center of the prison, they observed for a while, before Rael said, "I can't hear any other gunshot, maybe the guards who fought earlier with the zombies are all dead."

Not holding back at all when saying this, Rael casually strolled forward.

Maria, who was quiet the entire time suddenly said, "Or maybe they retreated to a safe place and are planning to counterattack."

Rael was surprised by Maria's insight, she also looked quite comfortable around him.

Throwing away those useless thoughts, Rael checked his System once more.

As Rael and Maria continued through the prison, Rael couldn't help but appreciate Maria's insights and her knowledge of the prison's blueprint. Her observation about the guards possibly retreating was a valid point. They cautiously moved forward, making their way down a dimly lit corridor.

As they ventured deeper into the prison, they began to notice signs of struggle and chaos.

Broken glass, discarded weapons, and ominous stains on the walls hinted at the horrors that had unfolded here. It was clear that they were not the only ones trying to survive.

Rael and Maria moved cautiously, every step echoing through the desolate halls. Suddenly, they heard a faint noise, like a distant groan. Rael tightened his grip on his sword, ready for whatever lay ahead.

"Keep your calm, no matter what happens." As Rael said this, he turned around the corner and readied his sword to attack.

The source of the groan soon became apparent as they rounded the corner. A small group of zombies, their decaying faces contorted in hunger, lurched toward him.

Without hesitation, Rael engaged the undead foes, his combat instincts taking over. Rael's sword sliced through the air with precision, taking down one zombie after another.

Breathing heavily, Rael wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead. Maria looked at him with a determined glint in her eyes.

"Seems like I'm useless after all," she said, a weak smile appearing on her face.

Rael nodded, acknowledging her resilience. "Don't worry, I'm not expecting anything from you. Let's keep moving. We need to find some survivors, or find out where the other zombies are hiding."

With that, they continued their journey through the prison, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Rael's only disappointment came from the fact that over a dozen zombies only increased his XP by 200 or so. It was pitiful compared to what he received before.

It's already been half an hour, Rael and Maria encountered a few groups of zombies, and surprisingly enough, Maria also tried to fight them.

She found a crowbar that was used to successfully kill some zombies that tried to approach her.

"I'm level 2!" Suddenly screaming, Maria hurriedly covered her mouth, realizing what a mistake she made.

Sounds attracted zombies, as it was supposed to be, and this case also held true.

Rael's hearing quickly picked up a lot of noise coming their way. It was impossible for him to hear it perfectly, as there was a mix of growls, sounds of stepping, and dragging all at once.

"Maria, you better hide for this one. Also, don't worry, I'm out here exactly because I wanted to fight."

"But… I'm really sorry. I can stay with you and-"

"There's no need for that. To be honest, I'm quite excited right now." Flashing Maria a devilish smile, Rael completely blocked the corridor by standing in the middle.

"Go inside that room and stay there until everything is over."

"Alright. Rael…" Before Maria completely closed the door, Rael heard her muttering, "Thank you…"

Not saying anything else, Maria quickly closed the door.

'What a strange woman, thought Rael, as the zombies finally reached him.

From the looks of it, it was a group of over fifty zombies, and there were more coming.

"Hah… With your help guys, I'm going to level up again. Thank you."

Not caring about the fact that he was completely overwhelmed by numbers, Rael flashed ahead and swiftly decapitated the first zombie that was close to him.

His face had a smile on it the whole time.

He was clearly enjoying the current situation, his XP was over 4500 after killing other groups of zombies, and he calculated that with these guys, he would be able to level up.

It was good that Rael's Stamina was very high, the reason why he could fight a prolonged battle or multiple enemies without getting tired so easily.

Because his speed and senses were at least double the zombie's, Rael had an easy time picking his victims.

There wasn't a single moment where he felt in danger, in fact, it seemed that his combat experience was getting better and better.

He could now visualize where a zombie was going to attack, and respond with a counter or dodge, depending on the situation.

'This is a blessing… I feel so damn good. This is the life I want. Kill, get stronger, burn everything, destroy, chaos…'

Perhaps not even Rael managed to realize that he was in some sort of trance, or a zone of some sorts.

His instincts took over, and before he knew it, the battle already ended, there were over a hundred zombies laying around him.

Without question, they were more lifeless than before.

"It's over, already…?" Rael's disappointed expression didn't stay up for too long on his face.

This was because he finally had time to check the notifications brought by the system.

"I leveled up, huh…" Smiling as he said this, before Rael could check his status once again, he spotted something on the floor. It was actually three things.

It wasn't a pale blue light like the ones he saw before, but a green one.

'An item dropped!' Exclaiming inwardly, Rael was excited to see that the item that dropped was something he wished for a while, it was an armor.

(Congratulations! You received a Rare Drop!)

(Congratulations! You received an Uncommon Drop)

(Congratulations! You received a Common Drop!)

[Uncommon Gloves]: Adds 3 Strength, 3 Agility.

The last thing completely stunned Rael, he quickly checked his System.

Quickly equipping his new Armor and gloves, Rael checked his attributes once again.

Nodding his head at the powerful attributes displayed, Rael's mind was fully occupied by the strangeness of the Slash Skill.

'So it's using Mana to work? But I don't have Mana. What the heck is this then?' Not figuring out an answer, Rael tried to tap the skill's information.

Surprisingly, when he tapped on Mana, a bit of information was given.

'Mana Points are determined by Intelligence.'

'1 Intelligence = 10 Mana Points'

'Used Intelligence point has a rate of recovery of 1/hour.'

'Since mana isn't available yet, no skill based on mana can work.'

Rael was stunned for a while, but his daze quickly passed when he heard a strange sound coming his way.

It was more of a growl rather than a sound, before Rael could react, he saw 'it' only twenty meters away from him.

It was a giant red dog that seemed to have blood pouring out of his mouth.

'What's this thing?'

"GROWLL!!!"

The giant red dog quickly dashed towards Rael…
