After Carter and Daniel were ready, and they had Andrea ready to go they set out to the Abbot residence once again, when they arrived Daniel smiled a little - still remembering the previous dinner he was invited to with Andrea.
As they entered they could hear the laughter of people, it instantly made the atmosphere feel warmer, they headed to the living room where they found everyone gathering. The first ones to jump up were Hunter and Jake, who were happy to see their uncle again, sure, but they were happier to see Andrea.
"Well, hello to you too" Carter joked as his nephew completely ignored his presence, which caused everyone to chuckle a little.
"We were just waiting for you to arrive let's start dinner" Gavin suggested and everyone agreed, Carter and Daniel took Andrea with them like the previous time and everyone moved into their seats, dinner was served and everyone caught up with their week and Gavin spoke about his trip and also shared some souvenirs he got from his trip.
Once they finished dinner, Jake and Hunter both went to wash up as they were spending the weekend at their grandmother's house - leaving the adults to have time to talk.
"Well now that it's only us I can finally explain why I wanted us all to have dinner tonight" Gavin explained seriously, they all did find it a little odd, usually they would have dinner together on Sunday's if they wanted to get together but seeing as Gavin was quite serious on the idea of having dinner as soon as possible it must be something quite serious.
"After I returned from my trip I went out for lunch before heading home, I found something quite interesting, well rather it was disappointing, I saw Angela's father and Angela having a meal together, and at first I wanted to go greet them but as I approached I realized that the discussion was something serious and decided I would say hello before they left, so I took a seat close by hoping to say hello, but instead I heard something I probably shouldn't have, and I ended up recording it" Gavin explained, Carter and Daniel couldn't help but feel a little nervous.
Gavin took out his phone and placed it on the table and started the recording he took.
"You need to marry Abbot, Angela" Mr. Bell spoke clearly, annoyed and frustrated.
"But father I am not interested in marriage, and I don't even like Carter" Angela retorted to her father.
"Angela remember if you marry into that family you will have a lot of money, we will have a lot of money, and then you just need to stay with him for a little while, just a year, and then you can divorce, and you can take 50% of his company and hand it over to me, and you are free to do as you please" Mr. Bell spoke.
The recording ended there, so they didn't know what happened after, but there was silence for a moment, and they could tell that Ms. Abbot was clearly upset at the revelation that someone who has been by their side for such a long time could do something like that, and to use Carter like that was really upsetting to her.
"I actually also have a recording and an announcement I wanted to make today" Carter said breaking the silence, everyone's eyes were trained on him and Daniel took out his phone and played the recording from the day at the mall where Daniel caught Angela cheating.
Once the recording ended, another silence filled the room, nobody really knew what to feel.
"I am breaking off my engagement with Angela, for one, I did love Angela when we first got together I thought she was a really nice person, but she soon turned out to be a little different from what I expected, I am not free of my own issues in this situation, I led her on for a long time and even proposed to her when I no longer felt anything towards her, I should've ended it a long time ago, but I didn't want to upset mom, but I also can't continue on in this way, plus after hearing Gavin's recording I think it would be best to end things before her father can come up with any other plans to try and take our company" Carter explained.
"That is for the best but before that I think we need to get Angela's opinion on what's going on as well, clearly it seems she doesn't want this, I mean her cheating and her telling her father that she doesn't want to get married should be clear indications that she doesn't want this either" Ms. Abbot suggested.
Nobody responded at first, they weren't sure how talking to Angela would help the situation, but they knew they couldn't just leave things as they were, because it wouldn't be good for Carter or Angela nor would it be good for the company, they all knew that they had to be sure no word of breaking the engagement would reach the ears of Mr. Bell.
"I will call Angela over to the house in a few days, then we will all sit down and have a proper conversation surrounding everything that has been going on these past eight years, and Carter will apologize for pulling her along for such a long time when he no longer felt anything for her" Ms. Abbot said seriously and Carter nodded, he knew what he did was wrong, and he deeply regretted it, he wanted to apologize and find out if there was a way to help her out of the situation her father placed her in.
"Sounds good to me" Carter said with a smile, Daniel just sat back and listened, he never knew Mr. Bell well, but he never expected him to be such a greedy person to try and use his own daughter to gain a company that clearly didn't belong to him or his family, it was a bit upsetting to think of everything she had to go through, he might not be a big fan of Angela due to her past comments but still to think that she had to deal with her father trying to use her to gain something it felt upsetting.
After a bit more discussion, they all realized that it had gotten quite late.
"You two should stay here, I still have a few of the boy's baby things we used I am pretty sure there is a camping cot you can use for Andy in the guest room" Ms. Abbot told the two, she knew Carter had a lot on his mind, and she was pretty sure Daniel also had a lot going on inside his head at the moment, and she didn't want them driving back home in the state of shock they were in.
"Hmm sounds like a good idea, I will sleep in my room and Dan can take the guest room next to mine" Carter said with a big smile, Daniel just nodded in agreement, he came with Carter so if Carter wanted to stay over he didn't have much of a choice but to go along with it.
And with that Lisa and Gavin moved to Gavin's room as the boys were already fast a sleep in their usual room they used, Carter showed Daniel to his room and helped him set up the cot his mother mentioned before in the room, he also gave Daniel a change of clothes as he still had a lot of his clothes still at the family house, Daniel took a shower and headed to bed and Carter followed suite, both were quite tired after hearing everything they did.
All they could hope for was that their meeting with Angela would go well and that they could end everything once and for all.
