The demon, which appeared black, was imposing, standing about 15 meters tall, but it was slender and had long arms.
The demon grabbed debris and hurled it in my direction. This attack was probably what defeated the soldier, but my sword was already fully charged.
"Explosive Slash!"
All the debris heading toward me was destroyed in an explosion. The demon was surprised, clapped its hands together, and delivered a powerful blow to the ground, but I managed to dodge toward its right foot.
"Explosive Slash!"
Instantly, my ability exploded, and the demon fell. I wasted no time, circled around the demon near its neck, jumped to cut off its head, but the demon reacted, swinging its arm in my direction. I didn't have time to dodge, so I used the sword to parry the attack, but I was thrown away and hit one of the debris.

"Max!" Idalme shouted.
"Are you okay?" Ui asked.
"You're late."
"I'm sorry."
I didn't blame her since she had been rejected by the man she liked, and seeing him again so soon was frustrating. However, on the battlefield, we didn't have time for that. I got up and shook my body.
"Listen. Defeating this demon is not easy for me. I cut its leg, but it regenerated, so I need your help."
"Okay."
"I'll bring this demon down to the ground, and your job is to immobilize it. Can you do it?"
"Yes."
"Then let's start round 2."
My sword had been charged throughout the conversation, enough to cut off the demon's head. I ran towards it at high speed, and once again, it hurled debris at me, but with Explosive Slash, I exploded them.
I approached, and the demon tried to smash me with several strikes on the ground, but I managed to dodge. It was difficult to reach its leg, but suddenly the demon's head began to burn.
"Fire Arrow!"
I was surprised, but the timing was perfect for me to cut its leg.
"Explosive Slash!"
The demon fell and used its hands to support itself, but I seized the opportunity and cut off its left arm.
"Now!!!" I shouted.
Idalme shot a regular arrow into the sky and then fired a fire arrow that collided with the regular arrow, causing several fire arrows to rain down on the demon.
"Consecutive Fire Arrows!"
The arrows didn't cause much damage to the demon, but they were enough to immobilize it during my charge. I took advantage of the moment, ran towards the demon's head, jumped, and with an Explosive Slash, I beheaded the demon.

"We did it!" exclaimed Idalme.
I looked in her direction and smiled, but she looked away. Then, everyone in the village began to celebrate, but the old man remained calm in the face of the situation.

Everyone started running, and then the demon fell to the ground, raising a massive dust cloud.

I used my attack to dissipate the dust and saw the demon that appeared merging with another. I had heard of this, but looking up close was unbelievable.
"Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh! Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh! Uuuuuuhhhhhhhh!"
You could hear the demon's cries as it was consumed; it was really sad how its body screamed even without its head.
"Max, what are we going to do?"

The fusion ended, and the combination of these beings was gigantic, perhaps twice the height of the previous demon. Its arms, body, and legs were massive, and my Explosive Slash wouldn't stand a chance at cutting it. However, what stood out the most was its black skin, which looked like mud flowing down its body.
"Hahahahaha! We're screwed," I started laughing in the face of the dire situation.

To defeat this demon, I would rely heavily on my ability to reach its head and deliver a fatal blow. I knew I would count a lot on Idalme's support, and without her, I feared it would be challenging to win.

I ran towards its right leg and slashed it, but I couldn't make a deep cut, as the demon's body was larger and more resistant. Idalme took the opportunity and fired a fire arrow at its leg, disorienting it.

I ran towards the opposite leg, applied Explosive Slash again, and Idalme fired a fire arrow at its leg.

It didn't fall; I didn't understand.

I ran to try to save her, but the demon swung its hand in her direction. She was hit and thrown against the wall.

I ran towards where she was, but suddenly her body started moving and came at me.

The demon screamed, and various parts of its body were launched in all directions. Holding Idalme with one hand in mid-air, I managed to defend her with my Explosive Slash. I fell to the ground, ran to a safe place, and checked on Idalme's condition.
"She hit her head, but I hope it's not serious."

I thought she would be all broken, but apparently, that wasn't the case.
