Chapter 14 - Don't Forget That It Is Apocalypse

My days had fallen into a routine of watching the news, dedicating a few hours to training, and perusing the profiles of renowned guilds and formidable hunters, particularly the women hunters who inspired me. I found myself daydreaming about my own growing strength.

Two weeks had passed since my contract had expired, and I had shifted my focus from the news to watching dramas. In the midst of a live drama where the hero was proposing to the heroine, my phone interrupted the scene. Without checking the caller's name, I answered, fully absorbed in the romance unfolding on screen.

The voice on the other end questioned, "Do you know what's happening?" I carelessly responded, "They are going to kiss now." Confusion followed, with the caller asking, "What? What are you talking about?" I realized it was Victor, and hastily explained, "Sorry, I thought it was my friend. So what's going on? Why did you call me all of a sudden?"

Victor instructed me to switch to the news, and I changed the channel. The breaking news announced the opening of a new dungeon, one ten times the size of a grade C dungeon. I speculated it might be a grade A dungeon or even higher, but the reporter confirmed, "After assessing the dungeon's grade, it has been verified as a grade A dungeon."

I couldn't hide my surprise, exclaiming, "A grade A dungeon? It looked like an S grade one!" The news reporter further commented, "Indeed, it may appear to be an S grade dungeon, but it is, in fact, an A grade dungeon. This raises questions about the vastness of the S grade and higher-grade dungeons."

I inquired with Victor, and he assured me that the news was accurate, explaining, "The government wants you to join 'The Royal Tigers' guild in clearing this dungeon." My response was cautious, "I can't confirm anything right now. I'll decide once the government discusses my compensation."

I momentarily forgot that this was not a game but a post-apocalyptic reality. Packing my bag, I opted for a train journey instead of a flight, a two-day trip to the designated location. As the train neared its final station, it abruptly stopped, and the compartments began to shake, resembling an earthquake. Oddly, the dragon's eyes on my bracelet began to glow.

Curiosity compelled me to investigate, and I stepped outside. I discovered that the train's front carriages had been struck by a massive boulder. Then, a deafening roar echoed from the station, akin to a dragon's cry. I instructed the compartment officer to evacuate the train as quickly as possible and assured that I would investigate.

Equipped with my dragon sword and other essential items from my pocket, I rushed toward the source of the noise. Upon my arrival, I found a horrifying scene of carnage, with corpses strewn about and blood spattered. Panic had gripped the crowd, some attempting to rescue those trapped in debris. Another dragon-like roar shook the area, and when I gazed skyward, I saw a white dragon, slightly larger than the dragon kid, emitting a white beam.

Swiftly, I raised my sword to shield those nearby, preparing to confront this formidable threat. The dragon roared once more, inciting chaos among the people. To restore order and protect the innocent, I used 'Thunder dragon's roar'.
