During his short journey towards where the spirit demon core was located, Hori passed by many low-level demons. He used observation to see the stats of each and every one of them.
Some of them were shadow demons like the wolf that he passed by earlier. Others were way more powerful than the wolf. He suddenly wished that he made Derek die at the hands of one of the demons inside the abyss.
He walked around for some moments before stopping in front of another cave opening inside the cave.
The appearance of this cave contrasted with the environment in which it was located. The cavity bored into the mountain through which Hori entered was filled with darkness, but there was only one word to describe this cave… light!
There were crystals embedded into the roof of the cave. The crystals also went into the sides of the cave, illuminating it further. The floor was bare and rocky, quite ordinary in the grand scheme of things. When compared to the rest of the cave, however, it did not have any microbacteria growing on it.
In the middle of the cave, there was a wooden box. Hori's eyes shone with reminiscence when he saw that box. He felt like he was just typing about it yesterday.
See, it pays to write the exact directions to where treasures are located in your book. Those stupid editors don't know shit about writing.
A triumphant smile was etched on his face as he entered the cave and opened the box. A small crystalline object lay on top of a red cloth.
The spirit demon core! He found it!
Hori gently picked up the spirit demon core and inspected it. The smile on his face became wider.
Now when I push that ungrateful main character into the abyss, we'll see what can save him.

Even though the system sounded neutral and emotionless, Hori could still hear the vague sarcasm hidden in its speech.
Hori stared at the spirit demon core in his hands. It was ironic, having so much power in his hands and not knowing what to do with it.
I should've just let that ungrateful brat of an MC have the spirit demon core. He knew what to… wait!
Hori brought out the rusted sword that he had with him earlier and cut his palm. He allowed the blood flowing from it to drop on the surface of the spirit demon's core.
He watched as the spirit demon core started glowing with an orange hue. The orange-colored spirit demon core flew a few feet into the air and entered Hori's chest.
Hori's body jerked violently. His eyes started glowing with an orange hue and his skin started to look translucent.
All the veins muscles and tendons that were operating inside his body were made somewhat visible. His skin started to gain opacity some moments afterward.
Some minutes later, the orange hue in his eyes started to dim, his body stopped jerking and the spirit demon core that he just held in his hand was nowhere to be found.
