Chapter 45 - Humiliation

Mages were stronger than Commoners and Knights not only because they could cast spells, but because their bodies seemed stronger than steel. If an ordinary Commoner were to punch a Mage in the stomach, the following would happen - the Commoner would cry out in pain, holding his arm.

To an experienced Knight or Mage, this was something obvious and expected, however, the commoners could not even imagine that the difference in strength was so great. It was a gap that was impossible to bridge.

Evan, being a weak commoner, was only able to defeat Astrid because he knew demonic arts and was an experienced fighter who had lived for over 400 years. Under any other circumstances, his life would have ended in prison, and Astrid would have celebrated her victory.
