Chapter 12 - Chapter Twelve

"So, tell me, Lucien...how did your empire come to be?" Summer asked, curiously, after they were done eating the meal that one of Lucien's human chefs had cooked.

They were outside Lucien's bedroom, on the balcony and Lucien had set a lovely dinner arrangement that Summer would have appreciated more, if she wasn't with Lucien, maybe Angel…

The thought shocked her as soon as it came to her, and she did her best to brush it off and think of it as just thinking of having dinner with him at a lovely place, as just friends.

"Well, it wasn't a small foot in any way," Lucien said, then took a sip of his vintage wine before starting his story.

"My sire turned me back in 1446, and I was a lowly slave in the middle of nowhere, that place is now Gunna town, just a couple towns from this one and my slave masters were very brutal and dealt with me, and once, I was beaten till half dead and thrown outside for the wild animals to feast on and that was when my master showed up." Lucien sighed, sadly.

Summer wondered if that was why he was this fucked up, but she didn't care because that was not an excuse to be a vile murderer, people had things very worst, and they didn't turn into self-entitled murderers.

Lucien took another sip of his wine, then continued. "He turned me into a vampire, and you know the first thing I did?", Lucien chuckled. "I went back into that house and tortured my slave master and wife most terribly, before draining them of all their blood. It was beautiful."

Summer felt like vomiting at his words, but held back for the sake of her mission and drank a large gulp of wine, before smiling at him.

"They probably deserved that. So, what happened next?"

A twinkle shined in Lucien's eyes. "Then my master showed me to the world of pleasure," Lucien closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to remember what that felt like.

"It was something, wasn't it?" Summer asked, with a playful smile. Lucien let out his breath and smiled at her.

"It was the most exciting moment of my life. We went from town to town and terrorized them, mostly the armies that were stationed because you know soldiers die daily in wars."

Summer thought of all they had done at the time and how much they would have gotten away with because wars were going on, women waiting for their husbands to come home, but they were instead killed by a vampire and told by officials that they died honorable deaths, meanwhile they cowered and begged for their lives in the hands of a vampire that felt like he could toy with people's lives.

The image was disturbing…

"Everything was going well, and my sire was the most powerful vampire in the country and other vampires bowed to his rule, and I was his favorite. Then, something happened," Lucien said, his expression turning solemn.

"What happened?" Summer asked, speaking above a whisper.

"He was ganged up on by his own coven members and brutally killed, they drained his blood and asked a witch to use it to bind his soul from waking from his slumber again," Lucien said, spitefully and the room went quiet.

Summer waited exactly one minute, before speaking up. "What did you do? Did you let them go scot-free?"

Lucien chuckled. "Of course, I made sure to purge the coven and every one of them I tortured before, tying them to a pole and lighting fire on them. Contrary to popular beliefs, if you burn a vampire, they die and turn into dust, that's not true at all."

Summer held in her breath, before releasing softly. "So, what happened to them?"

Lucien stood up and walked up to the railing and leaned over in the railing, with his front-facing her.

"You should have been there to see them, their fleshes burned to crisps, and you could smell the aroma of burning meat. You know, the funniest thing, they were still alive and wailing." Lucien burst out into laughter, Summer felt disgusted by this horrible man, and she felt more aware than ever that she was amid a sick and deranged murderer.

How could someone talk about something like this with a smile and laugh? And she could practically feel the bloodlust rolling out of him…

Lucien seized his laughing and looked to see if Bela had a disgusted expression, but she just watched him with a neutral stare. F**k, She was so beautiful and fearless, when he talked about this to other people, they couldn't help but flinch and some excused themselves to throw up. Bela was just the perfect woman he needed by his side.

"I locked them up in wooden boxes, that's the weakness of vampires, though it's only for weak ones."

Summer felt her hope diminish, she felt like taking a wooden stake and stabbing him right on his heart. She wondered if there was even a heart, to begin with.

"And then, I was asked by the vampires to become their leader, and slowly I built this empire from the ground, and we finally made Elysium city home," Lucien concluded, Summer smiled at him.

"Your story is so touching, Lucien, losing the only person that mattered to you. I'm glad you avenged him, if the person I loved was killed, I would also take revenge and make sure the perpetrators paid for their sins." This was Summer indirectly telling Lucien that she was also here for him, and he will also pay his sins, just like the way he had killed those people for killing his sire, she will also kill him for her son.

Lucien walked up to her and took hold of her hand, clasping their hands together. "I'm so glad you understand me, Bela, you're such an amazing woman. I'm happy you looked past my flaws and saw the good in me."

Summer smiled at him, there was no f**king good she saw in him, just a horrible monster with a black hole for a heart. Lucien was an abomination that should be killed, and she will make sure of it.

One of Lucien's bodyguards made his way to them , he was one of the men that held Damien's hands in his clasps as Bruno killed her son.

Summer scowled at seeing him and didn't hide it at all, the man walked up to Lucien and whispered in his ear. Lucien nodded at him.

"Lucien, who is this very rude bodyguard of yours? He didn't greet me after entering and interrupting our date, how baffling!"

Summer complained, acting like those stuck-up rich ladies she saw in series on TV.

Lucien frowned at his bodyguard after Summer pointed that out, and to his dismay, the man was glaring at his date.

How bold of him…

"Come here, Josh," Lucien said to his bodyguard, the man confidently walked up to Lucien, and before he could comprehend what was happening.

Lucien raised him from the ground and threw him off the balcony… Josh screamed as he went falling and in a couple of seconds, his body hit the ground and the sound of his bones shattering could be heard from up.

Summer went still in shock, what just happened?

She took a deep breath and exhaled before standing up, Summer walked cautiously to Lucien's side and looked down the rail.

Josh's body was bent out of shape, literally, and blood was splattered everywhere.

"Is he dead?" she asked, making her voice sound confident. Lucien chuckled and brought her into his embrace.

"No, he isn't. He will just be in pain for a long time and healing. Don't worry, my men will clean that up."

"That's good because I'll hate to see the floors disorganized that badly when I'm ready to leave."

Lucien burst out into laughter, this woman was very special indeed!

"Fret not, they will do a good job." Lucien placed a kiss on her forehead. "I'm just so glad that you are here with me."

"Me too." Summer replied, softly.

She was seeing a glimpse of Lucien's world and that shook up the whole being, and she wondered if she could come out of this the same. It had taken a lot to act okay and not throw up at everything Lucien told her and the scene she had just witnessed.

Summer wondered if she could retain her sanity after delving deep into Luciens' word, she felt scared, and she wanted to see Angel.

For some reason she knew she would be okay after seeing Angel, Summer wanted Angel's hands around her instead of this monster, but it was just wishful thinking, and it would never happen.
