Angel took in a deep breath and out, he pulled his hand out of Summer's own.
"I'm sorry, love, but I can't do that. I have lots of work to do. Goodnight."
Angel turned around and walked out of Summer's room, closing the door behind him. Summer clasped her hand and gulped in the tears that threatened to fall.
What was this feeling she felt? Rejection? Why did she feel like that when he pulled away from her? Summer gasped and placed a hand on her chest as her heartbeat painfully.
"Angel…" She whispered, then broke into a sob.

Summer threw punches over and over again at the punching bag that Angel was holding. They had been going on with this for more than thirty minutes now, and she felt that her body was finally going to give way, Summer bent over and gasped out of breath.
Angel scowled at her. "Is that the best you can do? Stand up, Summer."
Summer stood up straight and assumed a punching stance, and she was going to throw another blow, but she was too weak and ended up falling. Summer lay down facing the ceilings and was taking deep breaths, in and out.
"I can't. I can't anymore." Summer managed to let out in between gasps. Angel sighed and let go of the punching bag. He walked over to her side.
"With this stamina, you can't achieve anything at all. You're weak and vulnerable to every supernatural creature to attack, you're useless and if it wasn't for the veil I spelled on you to make you smell like one of ours, you would have been dead a long while ago." Angel sneered at her, drawing every one of his words.
Summer scoffed at him. "Sorry that I'm such a weak and useless human, your highness." Summer hissed at him. She forced herself to get up from the floor and walked towards the exit, but stopped in her tracks and looked back at him.
Summer glared at him. "I don't know why you are being so rude this morning, but you deserve a real good slap. Don't look for me unless you are coming to apologize." After she said her piece, she stomped out of the gym.
Angel groaned, F**k! He had been feeling so emotional these few days, and he didn't know if it had to do with the mate bond. Angel was the one who had rejected Summer's offer to stay over, and he had become cranky after waking up and was harsh to everyone who approached him.
And, Summer walking in with those sexy sports shots wasn't helping his case at all. He was close to losing it and the only way he thought of not to be distracted was shutting off every emotion, and it served its purpose, but he had gotten Summer angry.
He owed her an apology, Summer had been a human before she died, and it would take her some time to adjust.
Angel walked out of the gym room and went to find Summer in her room. The doors were wide open, and she was lying down on her bed in a fetal position crying, Angel gulped, and his heart hurt at her sadness, and he had been the cause of it.
"Summer…" He called out, softly walking towards the bed.
"Don't come closer," Summer asked in a croaked voice. Angel stopped in his tracks, and although she couldn't see him, he nodded at her request.
Angel brushed a stray strand of hair from his face back to his hair. "Look, I'm truly sorry for hurting your feelings. I didn't mean it, it's just this business deal I'm working on, and it's got me stressed." Angel lied and knew he messed up after Summer turned around and gave him a pointed stare.
"You're lying to me again." Summer pointed out, this time Angel's face heated up, and he felt embarrassed at forgetting about her new powers.
Angel rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Sorry, I can't tell you about the real reason, but I'm sorry for saying all that stuff to you. I can't believe I made you cry."
Summer knew he meant his apology and she nodded. "I forgive you, but next time I'll kill you where the sun doesn't shine."
Summer vowed, Angel helplessly nodded in agreement. He would make sure never to hurt Summer any longer, she deserved all the good things in the world and not him adding to the list of jerks she knew.
"I promise you, Summer, it will never happen again," Angel vowed. "I was a little hard on you, and it wasn't fair to use you as an outlet for my anger. You're doing great in the training and I keep on forgetting that you are human, and I shouldn't hurry up the pace of your lesson."
"That's good. I'm glad you've seen your errors." Summer sniffed. "Can you get me strawberry ice cream now?"
Angel smiled at her. He was so glad that she was eating now without being persuaded and asking for things. He knew it was a long process, but he hoped she would heal from this heartache soon.
Angel gestured an okay sign at her. "Coming right up, boss." Angel left her room and Summer fell back on her bed. She had to improve her stamina and work harder if she wanted things to commence with her training. Angel had been harsh at her, but he wasn't wrong.
Summer was a speck of dust and couldn't even compare to the bottom list of the supernaturals, and she had to do something about it.

"Tell me, Josh, how is the preparation for the annual ball coming up?" Lucien asked as he looked up from his newspaper to his bodyguard. Josh bowed to him in respect and Lucien smiled, Since he had thrown the man from his building… The man had turned back to the meek vampire he had picked from the slums sixty years ago.
It was good that the man was back in his place, he had been acting as if he was the second in command or something.
"The preparation is going very well, Sire. None of the council members have gotten a clue of it." Josh reported, Lucien nodded.
"How about the head alpha?" Lucien asked.
"Not a clue sir, his people had been on our trail, but we gave them a detour. Something to take their minds off the mansion." Josh replied, Lucien, smiled in satisfaction.
He was fully aware that the head alpha had sent his men to look into them and with the measures he had taken, it was impossible for anyone to know what was about to happen in his mansion the day of the full moon.
Lucien was going to host a blood ball, a blood ball was just like the balls humans had, a large formal gathering for social dancing, and they all dressed up and had fun, but a blood ball consisted of the vampires having their fun.
They had invited ladies and men across the world, but they all had one thing in common, no family or friends, and they all were in desperate need of money. What they had to do was attend this ball and entertain the rich guests in all manners, and they were promised to be paid, and the transaction would be over.
Easy-peasy, but that was a lie. Lucien promised these influential vampires of all works of life and high places that this particular night, they could feast, hunt, and kill the humans at the ball, and in exchange, they had to support Lucien, and they agreed because they were tired of just drinking blood bags.
They missed the thrill of holding down their victims and draining all their blood, Lucien promised to take care of all the mess and their names would never be exposed to the council in exchange for their backing, and he had successfully been doing this for the past 30 years.
A night for vampires to go wild, kill, and hunt to their heart's desire and that was why he had an underground house, it had complicated mazes that humans found difficult to escape and traps were set if they ever managed to almost reach the main mansion.
"You've done a good job, Josh. Tell me, how is the transportation coming with Bruno and Harry?" Lucien laughs. "Are they fighting each other on the road?"
Josh nodded. "No sire, they only exchanged words, but they haven't attacked each other."
"That's shocking. I hope they can work on their differences unless none of them will be worthy of my throne." Lucien smirked at Josh. "If you please me, I just might give you the throne."
Josh's eyes widened, and then he knelt in front of Lucien. "I'm unworthy to be even considered sire, I'm happy as your loyal servant only."
Lucien burst out into wild laughter, this was exactly how things should be. And, if he tested Bela and saw that she was to be trusted and wasn't spying on him for the head alpha, he would bring her into his main world, and they would rule forever, growing more powerful as the days went on.
***********
Summer looked shocked and spooked at the lady that was in front of her. The woman who was about forty had purple, bright wavy hair and pure white eyes. It was like staring into a pool of light, and it mesmerized her and still scared her.
"Give me your right hand, child." The lady demanded, and Summer looked at Angel who sat beside her for confirmation that it was okay and part of the plan, Angel nodded.
Summer looked back at the woman, and she stretched out her right hand to her. The woman clasped her hand and Summer gasped in shock at how cold the lady's hands were, she was about to panic but Angel's hand on her shoulder calmed her down and all the uneasiness she had been feeling was gone.
"Ah… this one's a special one, An otherworlder." The seer said, smiling.
"What does that mean?" Summer asked, turning to Angel. The man sighed.
"It means you don't belong to this world, and you're supposed to transcend to another world, the afterlife."
Summer nodded in understanding. She had died as a human and was supposed to go to the afterlife, but Angel had messed with nature and had kept her here, she didn't belong in this world any longer.
The seer caressed her hand and Summer gasped softly. She could feel the current running through her gently. "The gods have been wrong to you, my child, but they are compensating you for your loss and assisting you on your journey for justice. You have been gifted with the powers of the gods…"
"Does that mean she is becoming a demigod?" Angel asked with wide eyes, The seer simply nodded at his question.
"It is due to the purity of her heart, and she has been selected as the chosen one for this position, and she is going through the inheritance process."
Angel looked shocked and faced Summer, but she had a blank look. He wondered if the news had been so shocking for her or if she was in denial, but Summer laughed instead, she laughed until tears came out of her eyes.
The seer let go of her hand and Summer tried to catch her breath, she looked at Angel's shocked face and began speaking.
"Can you believe this? The gods are compensating me for my loss"
"Summer…" Angel called, sighing. Summer shook her head and stood up abruptly.
Her face was full of fury. "They want to compensate me, why did they just watch while my Damien was dying?"
"Child, everything happens for a reason." The seer said. Summer sneered at her.
"Don't give me that bullshit." wind was gathering in the seers' room and Angel was getting alarmed, Summer was letting her powers control her and if he didn't snap her out of this phase quickly, her soul would be consumed by her powers and she would be a soulless killing machine.
Summer started sobbing. "My baby was tortured and killed right in front of me, and they are talking about compensation. Where had they been when I cried and begged for any good to save us, and this is their compensation?"
She looked at her hands which were producing an enormous white light.
"Where was this compensation when I needed it the most when my son was alive and healthy?"
"Summer, calm down, love. I know what happened to you isn't fair, and we're going to deal with the culprit, okay?"
Summer glared at him. "Lucien would surely die at my hands, but the gods can surely take their powers and shove them down their assholes."
Summer was storming towards the exit, but Angel got to her in a brief second, and with one strike of his hand on her neck, he knocked out the demigod.
