Chapter 14 - chapter 14 : Disappearance

Merphis and Kurugi chained attack sessions of incredible intensity, their punches and kicks succeeding each other at lightning speed. Each impact resonated like thunder, generating waves of power that destroyed everything in their path. Both fighters moved with supernatural agility, their movements almost imperceptible to the naked eye, while the ground shook beneath their feet. The energy released by their clash formed a destructive whirlwind, shattering surrounding structures and throwing debris in all directions. Their duel was a spectacle of raw strength and refined technique, each seeking to gain the upper hand in this titanic struggle.

Merphis dodged Kurugi's punch with disconcerting agility, then quickly followed up with a punch to his opponent's ribs. Taking advantage of the opening created, he hit Kurugi's leg to destabilize him. Before Kurugi could react, Merphis finished his sequence with an incredibly powerful punch directly to Kurugi's head. The impact was so strong that it crushed Kurugi into the ground, creating a crater approximately 100 meters deep. The earth shook with the force of the attack, sending debris flying in all directions as Kurugi was driven into the ground, leaving Merphis dominating the scene with merciless intensity , Kurugi, without waiting, crossed the crater in an instant to counterattack. However, Merphis blocked the attack with his elbow, displaying perfect control of his movements. With a fluid backhand, he delivered a powerful kick to Kurugi's back, throwing him forcefully against a building. The impact was so violent that the walls of the building cracked and partially collapsed, debris flying as Kurugi crashed against the structure, temporarily immobilized by the devastating power of Merphis' blow.

Kurugi walked out of the building, his body scarred from the impact, but his eyes burned with unwavering determination.

Kurugi: (in a respectful but firm tone) Your skill in close combat commands respect, Merphis.

Merphis: (with a smirk) Well then, Kurugi, have my beatings created a mental deficit for you so that you no longer call me a monster?

Kurugi: (eyes flashing with anger and conviction) Make no mistake, Merphis, you are a monster. And in this fight, I will bring justice to all those you have unjustly massacred.

Merphis: (exasperated, rolling his eyes) I'm really tired of justifying myself every time. Think what you want, but know that you will need more than just fine words to defeat me.

The tension between them was palpable, every word loaded with intense emotion. Kurugi, driven by a burning desire for revenge and justice, prepared to give everything he had. Merphis, on the other hand, felt a mixture of frustration and excitement, ready to show once again why he was feared by so many.

Kurugi threw several light spears towards Merphis, seeking to blind her and distract her attention. With astonishing speed, he accelerated to execute a sudden attack. However, Merphis appeared behind him in a flash. Before Kurugi could turn around, Merphis dealt him a hard blow with her elbow, knocking him slightly into the air. Before Kurugi could regain his balance, Merphis grabbed his foot and, with one brutal movement, crushed it against the highest floor of the building. The impact shook the structure, sending shards of glass and debris flying around them, as Kurugi struggled to free himself from Merphis's relentless grip.

Merphis doesn't let Kurugi catch his breath and in an instant, he goes to the highest floor of the seized building. With impressive speed, Merphis smashes Kurugi's face into several buildings at full speed. The violence of the impact was such that Kurugi sent each brick crushing his face, cutting off his breathing. The pain is unbearable, but Merphis shows no signs of pity. He holds Kurugi against the walls , Merphis throws Kurugi into the air, then instantly finds himself in front of him to deliver a kick so powerful that he crashes violently to the ground, creating a devastating shockwave .

As Kurugi struggled to get up after Merphis' brutal assault, Merphis looked at him with a cold look. Kurugi, wasn't ready to give up.

Kurugi: (panting, his eyes burning with rage) Merphis... Do you really think your brutality will make me give in?

Merphis: (in an icy tone, his eyes staring intently at Kurugi) You keep getting up, Kurugi. It's admirable, but futile. (his fists clench) I'll show you why I'm so feared.

Kurugi: (gritting his teeth, slowly standing up) You're nothing but a monster blinded by your own power. I'll prove that even the strongest can fall. (his voice trembles with determination)

Merphis: (sighing, with a hint of exasperation) More of this talk of justice... Do you really think it'll save you? (he takes a step forward, his muscles tense) Prepare yourself to face reality, Kurugi.

Kurugi (his gaze full of defiance): Merphis, no matter how much you hit me, my armor will always transform your violence into life energy for me. Every attack you throw at me only strengthens me more.

Merphis (his eyes narrow, a dangerous glint ignites as he draws his saber with fearsome fluidity): All good things must come to an end, Kurugi. You cling to this armor like a lifeline, but you don't yet understand how overwhelmed you are.

He tightens his grip on the hilt of his saber, feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins. In one swift move, he accelerates towards Kurugi, the air around him hissing with speed, while his mind focuses on a single objective: to strike with lethal precision.

Merphis, without wasting a moment, sent two gigantic blades of fire in the shape of an "X" straight at Kurugi. The flames roared in the air, incandescent, threatening to devour everything in their path. but Kurugi, his eyes filled with calm, raised a hand. With a simple gesture, he neutralized the fire with disconcerting ease. The blades disappeared, consumed by his will, and a thick smoke enveloped the place.

When the smoke cleared, Kurugi stood there, unharmed, his body now surrounded by an aura of dazzling light.

Kurugi, his gaze intense, stared at Merphis, with a single glance he unleashed an avalanche of light attacks from the sky. The columns of light fell on Merphis, destroying everything in their path with immeasurable force. But, without wasting a second, Merphis launched himself into the air at a crazy speed, heading straight for the attacks.

In a burst of power, he used his ice power to freeze the waves of light, imprisoning them in a frozen coffin. Then, without hesitation, he released a wave of devastating flames, consuming the frozen attacks and reducing them to ashes.

Merphis slowly came back down, his sword glinting in his hand, his eyes fixed on Kurugi with icy intensity.

Merphis reached out his hand towards Kurugi, and in an instant, the latter was surrounded by a mass of molten earth, trapped in overwhelming heat. Without wasting a moment, Merphis leapt several hundred meters into the air. Atomic energy condensed around his fist, creating a crushing pressure that seemed to bend the air around him. He then slammed down on the place where he had trapped Kurugi, his fist unleashing a force so titanic that the impact leveled all the buildings and objects nearby, leaving behind only sand and debris.

As the dust cleared, Merphis scanned the ruins, confident that he had finished off his opponent. But to his surprise, Kurugi was still standing, enveloped in a protective field of light, glowing with an unearthly intensity. However, Kurugi quickly noticed that the force field was slowly cracking under the colossal pressure of Merphis' attack. Not wanting to take any chances, he immediately teleported away, reappearing some distance away just before Merphis could launch another attack, narrowly missing his target.

Kurugi, standing atop a huge structure, looked down at Merphis with a piercing gaze. "Opening of the Brave's Domain!" he declared in a resonant voice. In an instant, the air twisted around them, and space itself seemed to tear apart. They were transported to a pocket dimension, a vast city with a mythological feel, where every building seemed carved from marble and gold.

Merphis, now 20 meters below, observed the place with a mixture of curiosity and distrust. "So, do you think this little sleight of hand will change anything, Kurugi?" he asked, his eyes already searching for weak points in this new terrain.

Kurugi, standing majestically atop his structure, replied with a hatred. "This is my reality, Merphis. A battlefield where only the truly brave survive. Prepare yourself, because in this realm, I will give you no chance."

Meanwhile, Suzaku and Suka continued their fierce battle. Suzaku, relentless, launched a series of furious attacks, his blades dancing with deadly precision. For his part, Suka maintained his versatile strategy, juggling between quick attacks and effective defenses. His methodical approach allowed him to relentlessly counterattack while parrying Suzaku's assaults, maintaining complete control over the pace of the fight. The two opponents seemed locked in a deadly dance, each seeking the opening that would decide the victor.

Suzaku, looked at Suka as he

dodged the flaming arrows while defending himself against the Yokai. "How is that possible? You use defense and attack techniques in perfect sync!"

Suka, focused and calm, replied as he fired another arrow. "It's simple. My strategy is based on balancing offense and defense. While I keep a safe distance, my Yokai takes care of neutralizing you when you try to approach."

Suzaku, grimacing as another arrow grazed his shoulder, growled. "It's annoying to have to fight against such a well-orchestrated combination. But it's not enough to stop me. I'll eventually find a gap in your defense."

Suka, smiling slightly, remained impassive. "Good luck. Every move you make is taken into account, and every mistake you make is exploited. The key is to stay strategic even in the middle of a storm."

Suzaku gritted his teeth. "Oh yeah, you want to play that, huh? . "

Suka quickly switches his flame arrow to an explosive arrow and fires a flurry of projectiles at Suzaku. With his exceptional speed, Suzaku skillfully dodges the explosions, moving like a shadow among the debris.

Suddenly, Suzaku summons several wandering souls and orders them to attack Suka. The latter, with fearsome precision, eliminates most of the souls with his arrows, but a few manage to get dangerously close to him. His Yokai quickly intervenes, destroying the remaining souls before they can reach him.

Thinking he has finally gained the upper hand, Suka breathes in relief, but Suzaku suddenly bursts out from the left. The creature Suka summoned claws at him heavily, appearing to cut him in two. However, it was only a ruse. Suzaku reappears behind Suka, strikes the creature with his dagger, making it disappear, and, in one fluid motion, delivers a violent kick to Suka's face. This one is propelled against the wall with devastating force, leaving Suka groggy and surprised by the brutality of the attack.

Suzaku (with a satisfied smile): "I created these souls in my free time. I sometimes make souls in my image to contemplate myself, but it also allowed me to set a trap for you and break your defense."

Suka (worried and furious): "What have you done with my Yokai?"

Suzaku (with a glint of arrogance): "My Daggers have the special ability to imprison the souls of those they touch. Thus, your Yokai is now sealed in my dagger."

Suka (shocked and perplexed): "And what will you do with my Yokai now?"

Suzaku (with an enigmatic smile): "The special ability of my daggers is to be able to use the powers of those I have sealed. Your creature and its powers are now at my disposal."

Suka (with determination despite his apparent defeat): "Don't think this will give you an easy victory.

Suzaku (laughing heavily): "I look forward to seeing what else you can do. But for now, your options are limited."

As Suzaku turns invisible, making himself completely undetectable, Suka remains vigilant, his bow drawn and ready to react at a moment's notice. He closes his eyes for a moment, focusing his aura to perceive the slightest movements around him. Suddenly, he senses a disturbance in the air and reacts quickly. Suka fires a special arrow with a revealing aura that pierces Suzaku's invisibility, making him visible again. Without wasting a second, he follows up with an explosive arrow, which attaches to Suzaku's torso before exploding with devastating force. The explosion propels Suzaku violently against the ground, leaving a crater upon impact and emitting a cloud of debris that obscures the scene.

Suzaku (with a surprised expression): "How come you can see me when I'm invisible?"

Suka (with quiet confidence): "I've developed a special connection with my Yokai. This connection allows me to adapt and perceive even the most subtle powers. I also have a strengthened immunity to this kind of power. But your mistake is even more serious."

Suzaku (taken aback): "What mistake?"

Suka (with a determined smile): "By absorbing my Yokai's power, you not only took on its abilities, but also its essence. Since I'm in sync with its powers, it strengthened my immunity and allowed me to easily detect you."

Suzaku, furious, charges towards Suka with incredible speed, ready to eliminate him. However, he is stunned to see that Suka no longer has an arrow and that the latter manages to block his attack with one hand. Suka's silhouette then changes in a disturbing way: his eyes become black as ink and red horns appear on his head. In a lightning movement, he propels Suzaku out of the building with a powerful punch, letting him fall outside the building, far from the confrontation.

Arriving outside, Suzaku and Suka see the extent of the destruction: the southern side of the city is completely obliterated, leaving nothing but sand as far as the eye can see. The once imposing buildings are reduced to scattered debris. Suka, scanning the surroundings with growing concern, wonders where Merphis could be, seeing no trace of him in this devastated expanse. The absence of Merphis in this ravaged landscape intrigues and deeply concerns him.

Suzaku asks, looking intrigued, "Since you're a summoner, how come you're able to transform and fight with such power?"

Suka answers confidently, "Certainly, I'm a summoner, but I can also use the powers and experience of my Yokai in combat. That's what allows me to transform and engage in such a fearsome confrontation."

Taking advantage of this moment, Suzaku materializes behind Suka and lightly scratches him with his dagger. Suka, reacting at the last moment, manages to free himself and narrowly escape, thus avoiding a more serious injury.

Suddenly, Suka starts bleeding from the mouth and kneels in pain.

Suzaku cries out with a satisfied smile:" You're quite agile, huh? I was planning to finish you off in one attack."

Suka returns to his normal form, his face marked by pain: "I already couldn't hold on in this form for a long time, you just shortened it again."

Suzaku replies, his tone threatening: "I scratched you lightly, which means I took a part of your soul. But my dagger doesn't only have that effect, it also poisons. Your end is near

Suka, despite the effect of the poison that makes him lose his balance and his sight progressively, gets up. His face is marked by pain, but his eyes express a fierce resolution. He stares at Suzaku, ready to fight to the death, his voice tinged with defiance:

"Let the poison consume me, it doesn't matter. I will fight until my last breath. Prepare yourself, Suzaku, because I will not give in easily."

Merphis and Kurugi find themselves in the dimension created by Kurugi, a vast mythological city where reality seems to fluctuate at every moment.

Kurugi, from the top of his imposing structure, observes Merphis with a glint of defiance in his eyes:

"So, Merphis, does this place live up to your expectations? An arena worthy of our fight."

Merphis, impassive but with a determined glint in his eyes, answers:

"An impressive setting. But I'm here for the fight, not to admire the scenery. Prepare yourself, Kurugi. I'm ready for anything."

Kurugi sketches a calculating smile, waving his hand slightly to manipulate the environment around them:

"This is just the beginning. This dimension allows me to change the rules at any time. Let's make this duel memorable."

Merphis, arms crossed, stares at Kurugi with relentless intensity: "You talk too much, shut up and come cet some smash "

Shimmering portals appear around Kurugi, each opening with an eerie glow. From these portals, swords burst forth at such dizzying speeds that they seem to outpace light itself. Millions of blades slice through the air in an unrelenting rain, tearing through space with overwhelming precision and speed. The ground trembles under the impact of these swords invisible to the naked eye, and the air becomes charged with a palpable menace, making every move crucial to avoid total annihilation.

Merphis erects a huge protective dome around himself, a few meters above the ground. This dome, transparent but imposing, deploys an impenetrable barrier against attacks coming from the air and the ground. Its particularity lies in a unique functionality: each material, object or being that comes into contact with its surface triggers an adhesive explosion. This explosion is so powerful and precise that it reduces everything that touches the dome to ashes, down to a subatomic level, leaving no trace of the debris. The swords that melt towards it are instantly disintegrated before even reaching the surface, guaranteeing absolute defense against Kurugi's assaults.

Merphis charges at breakneck speed toward Kurugi to engage him. He starts with a quick punch, but Kurugi dodges skillfully and counters with a fluid dodge before Merphis can follow up with a side kick. Merphis, refusing to be surprised, intensifies his offensive with a simultaneous triple kick. Despite the speed of the attack, Kurugi moves with impressive agility, dodging each blow. In a flash, Kurugi appears behind Merphis and delivers a brutal blow to his back. Merphis is thrown forcefully against several buildings, crashing through the structures before finally stopping.

Kurugi, watching closely, unleashes several beams of light that charge towards Merphis. Despite his attempts to dodge, the beams persist and pursue him relentlessly, controlled remotely by Kurugi. Merphis uses his hand to cut the beams off, causing them to disappear one by one. However, as he catches his breath, Merphis suddenly kneels, dragon hisses echoing through the air. His scales begin to grow back, covering his skin in a shimmering armor, while his teeth transform into sinister, sharp shapes. A long, pointed protrusion emerges from his mouth, adding to his menacing and fearsome appearance.

Suddenly, Kurugi rushes at Merphis, multiplying simultaneous attacks with lightning speed. Merphis, despite his efforts to dodge and counterattack, finds himself constantly on the defensive. Kurugi's attacks are relentless, and Merphis struggles to place effective counterattacks. Each attempt to strike Kurugi fails, leaving barely any scratches, while Kurugi continues to chain together blows with fearsome precision and brutality. Merphis, overwhelmed by his opponent's speed and strength, is severely battered, unable to regain the initiative.

Kurugi, an arrogant smile on his lips, says, "You will never be able to touch me, because I can anticipate all your attacks before you even make them."

With a fluid gesture, he summons a massive spear and points it directly at Merphis' heart. The spear penetrates deeply, then Kurugi pulls it out with disconcerting ease, propelling Merphis into the air. Before Merphis can react, Kurugi teleports behind him. With a clone appearing in front of Merphis, the two coordinate to launch a devastating energy attack. The impact tears a gaping hole in Merphis' body, leaving his opponent badly injured and at Kurugi's mercy.

Suddenly, Merphis' body straightens up, completely regenerated in the blink of an eye. His expression has become one of uncontrollable fury. With a draconic cry of rage, he strikes Kurugi with incredible force, propelling him violently against the ground. Merphis then spreads his dragon wings and rises into the air, spitting devastating black flames all over the city. The flames surge like a wave of destruction, reducing everything in their path to ashes and plunging the city into total chaos.

Merphis dives into the chaos created by the devastating flames and heads towards Kurugi, who has activated a force field. This field is designed to passively strengthen itself with each attempt at intrusion or destruction. However, Merphis breaks the force field with consummate ease and grabs Kurugi by the neck, lifting him off the ground. With unmatched power, Merphis destroys space-time around them, freeing himself from Kurugi's pocket dimension. He then smashes Kurugi into the ground of the real world with unstoppable force, leaving utter devastation in his wake.

Suzaku and Suka, interrupted by the scene, see Kurugi crushed to the ground, his armor shattered into pieces. Merphis stands before them, he is human form but covered in green scales, with pointed sleeved wings. He lets out a terrifying dragon roar that generates powerful shockwaves, propelling Suzaku and Suka away. The impressive spectacle marks a decisive turning point in the fight, showing Merphis' unmatched strength in his unleashed form.

As the chaos continues, a military force arrives aboard a massive ship. Merphis, realizing the new threats, flies away and quickly leaves Japan. Meanwhile, Suzaku mysteriously disappears. The military forces come to Kurugi's aid, while Suka desperately tries to escape. However, Oswald suddenly appears before him, teleports with deadly precision, and pierces Suka's knee with his sword, pinning him in place. Suka, badly injured, is eventually captured and arrested.

Merphis, having left Japan, rises at a prodigious speed to several meters in altitude. His loss of control renders him unconscious, and he ends up crashing brutally on the ground of an unknown land. He lands a few meters from a mysterious temple, the devastation and anger that accompanied him slowly dispersing into the surrounding air.
