Chapter 35 - Falling apart

Grace, after a while of embracing her children, finally let them go. Aiden, observant as always, noticed the traces of tears on his mother's cheeks. Concern etched his young face as he looked up at her.

"Mom, why are you crying?" Aiden asked, his voice filled with genuine worry.

Grace, caught off guard, was surprised to find tears streaming down her face. She quickly wiped them away, offering a reassuring smile. "Oh, sweetheart, Mommy didn't even realize she was crying. These are happy tears. I'm just so lucky to have you as my children." 

Aiden, taking his mother's words to heart, responded with innocent sincerity. "Really, Mom? I'm happy too! You're the best mom, and I'm proud to be your son."
