Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 - Hunting The Old Man

We had left the facility I was being held, according to the Knight, it was an artifical habitat. It was a rather massive one at that.

"Do you mind if I just leave? I have some... unfinished buisness."

The Knight looked at me, and thought for a moment before agreeing to my proposal.

"Sure, you've replenished a surprising amount of Mana. So, it should be fine to let you go on your own, but do you want to borrow my sword? Your sword sort of imploded."

I shook my head and began to walk away from the Knight, not wanting to waste any time.

"It's fine, I don't need it. They can't kill me anyways."

They couldn't kill me for a couple reasons, first of all, I was too valuable to them.

But more importantly, they weren't capable of killing me. Honestly, I was in a rush, if that old man ran away, then I'd be enraged. And not only that, there should be a little something here that'll be of use to me.

As I ran through the facility, using Arcane Enhancement to speed myself up, I finally came across the man who I had been looking for.

"There you are, old man. You miss me?"

I noticed the sweat trickling down his forehead, I could tell that he was aware of the difference in power between us. In my time here, I had become incomparably stronger to when I first came to this world.

The old man smiled awkwardly when he saw me. Before he spoke, he cleared his throat.

"You know, this situation is probably the worst case scenario. I knew we'd be found out eventually, but I had hoped that we'd be done with this facility by then. But, we've been found. And not only, but we've been found by that thing. And so, I was going to run, but that monster has made it impossible to do even that. So, I'm dead no matter what I do. But now, now that you're here I can die by your hands. I'm glad."

I looked at him, and then, I ran at him. I reached him in an instant, and then I grabbed him by his face and slammed him into the floor, causing the ground to crack and leaving a large dent on the floor.

"Fight back. It's no fun if you don't fight back."

I let go of the man's body, he wasn't too badly injured by my attack. After all, he wasn't so much weaker than me that I could kill him in a single blow with Arcane Magic alone.

"As you wish. Just don't get angry if you get badly hurt."

Then, a wave of uncontrolled flame was blasted right at me, burning my skin and searing my muscles. It was painful, but I didn't flinch, instead I began to use my Arcane Healing to regenerate whatever flesh and skin I lost.

The process was rather slow, but at no point was I at risk of dying.

"Do better."

I looked at the man, before stepping on the arm that was releasing that constant wave of flame, and crushing it. Due to the pain he was feeling, his attack stopped as tears flowed down his cheeks.

"You... you're crying?"

The old man smiled warmly, I felt like throwing up when I saw that endearing look he had plastered on his face.

"How can I not cry, you've gotten so much stronger. If it took you just over a week to get this strong, then who knows what sort of freak you'll into in a few years? Who knows how you'll put the culmination of efforts... the God's Heart, to use? I'm glad, I'm so glad that the God's Heart has been given to someone who'll be of use to the Master. Even if you won't serve him for now."

"Shut up, you're nothing more than trash that's going to die at my hands. You don't have the right to be happy after what you did to me, what you put me through"

I snarled at the old man, I was holding back, I was holding back the urge to kill him. I couldn't give him a simple death.

"You know what? Even though you don't deserve the satisfaction of seeing it, I'm sure that it'll be painful. So, I'll use it."

And with that, I jumped back, creating space between us.

"Stand, and prepare yourself. I'm going to kill you now."

I smiled before closing my eyes, and concentrating, before finally uttering a single word.

"Ignition."

The old man's eyes widened, not in fear but in incomprehension.

"Are those... flames?"

A/N: I spent embarrassingly long deciding on a chant.
