Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Tim and Luke found a cave not far from their current location. Luke went in first to check if there were any predators because he wasn't afraid of death. Tim followed behind him because he didn't want Luke to intentionally offend a predator and get himself killed.

After all, he's the only way he can go back home.

Luke was holding a makeshift flashlight in his hands as they explored the cave.

They didn't plan on staying on the deeper end of the cave where it was darker and more humid, just close enough to the entrance.

"I don't think there's anything in here that can kill us," Luke said.

"We can't be too sure about that," Tim said.

"Well, do you want to explore deeper into the cave?" Luke asked blankly.

Tim looks at the darker part of the cave. It looked ominous. "Never mind that," he said.

Luke wasn't going to bother about it. There's no reasonable reason for him to go deeper. "Whatever," he said, then walked out of the cave.

"Where are you going?" Tim asked.

"You want to go home, don't you?" Luke said sarcastically. "I still need the equipment from my lab even if it's not complete," he said.

"Right," Tim said following him.

The next day...

They ended up spending the entire night moving half of Luke's equipment despite it being very heavy.

Tim couldn't handle it anymore and ended up falling asleep by the break of dawn. Luke didn't sleep though. His body isn't used to it, but with a few coffee strips, he would be able to go on for a few more hours. Although he wouldn't be able to do this on his own.

'What a bother.'

Tim was woken up by the sound of something crashing. He got up startled, and the first thing he saw was Luke looking at equipment on the ground blankly, behind him was a cart made of wood carrying the rest of his equipment.

"You carried everything?" Tim said in shock.

"Nothing some physics can not solve," Luke replies, putting his hand in his pocket.

Tim didn't know whether to believe or not. "How?" That was all he said.

"I don't enjoy explaining things to people who wouldn't understand," Luke simply replies.

Tim felt his blood boiling in rage, he took several deep breaths. Getting angry wouldn't get him anywhere.

Luke pressed the teleportation watch on his wrist and a laser shot at the equipment on the cart. He aimed at a space in the cave. The equipment appeared there and Tim stood in awe and wonder.

"You have a teleportation device?" Tim exclaimed. "Why did we spend all that time moving stuff?"

"I forgot about it," Luke replies. "Also it took hours to make it do that, I might still need to make some amendments to it," he said to himself.

He then sat on the floor, taking out a pen and a new notepad. "If you are hungry, there are nutrient jellies in all of the drawers, take one," Luke said to Tim.

Tim walks casually to a desk, and takes opens the drawer. There are indeed nutrient jellies inside and of different flavors as well, but that isn't the only thing here. His medications are still here as well. He takes one nutrient jelly opens it and takes a sip. 'It's horrible,' he thought.

Tim sat on a chair that was destroyed. He sipped the jelly watching Luke. He notices as Luke rubs his eyes and yawns. Tim frowned. Eye bags were forming under Luke's eyes again.

"Did you go to sleep?" Tim asked.

"What did you expect?" Luke replies, still fighting the urge to sleep. He curses silently, then reaches into his pocket to take out a coffee patch, but Tim stops him, he runs to him to stop him from doing that.

"Go to sleep," Tim said.

Luke scowls at him. "I thought you wanted to go home," he said.

"I want to go home, but I don't want you killing yourself by losing sleep," Tim replies strictly. His grip was strong, so Luke couldn't remove his grip.

"Fine," Luke said angrily. "Wake me up in thirty minutes," he said, laying down and closing his eyes.

"I'll wake you up when it is appropriate," Tim says, Luke grumbles a bit, then keeps quiet.

It wasn't long before Luke was fully asleep, about a minute later.

Tim was curious if Luke was truly asleep, so poked his cheek, a bit harshly. Is he already asleep? "How is he able to fall asleep so fast?" he said in surprise. He sat down next to Luke, he was frowning. What can he be thinking of even in his sleep?

He pokes in between his eyebrow and his face relaxes.

Tim was soon bored of standing around so he stepped out of the cave for a moment. He walks to the location where he and Luke appeared. The walls were still there as well as the broken glass.

He notices a group of five dressed in almost modern clothes, but at the same time the clothes look like they are from sixteenth-century Europe, but the fabric is made from polyester.

"There doesn't seem to be anyone here," the only girl in the group said.

Tim wondered if he should say hello to them or just leave. "There wasn't any building here last week during our patrol," a red-haired man with a strong build said. His voice was deep yet gentle.

"Why are we even here," a teenage boy about eighteen years old said holding his waist. He has a slim build with blonde hair and pointy ears?

"There was a bright blue light as bright as the sun coming from here last night, it only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough for the guild master to ask us to investigate," the girl said. "There were a few heavy things over here," she said pointing to the areas where Luke's equipment was.

"Do you think the outlaws were here?" a quiet voice said. A man wearing a cloak had said this. He gave off an eerie feeling.

"No, it can't be them," the blonde man said, "there are no traces of magic," he said bending down.

Tim felt like it was time to leave. But as he took a few steps back, he mistakenly stepped on a twig. He held his breath, before he could take another step, he was surrounded with weapons pointed at him by the group. "Oh, f--k."
