Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Another normal day in Impel Down

Impel Down.

As part of his routine patrols, Magellan glanced at the gate to the sixth level. He was currently experiencing a headache because no guards dared to go near it. The sixth level had become a place of fear and horror, with many guards meeting their demise upon entering.

Presently, in the sixth level known as Eternal Hell, Lucas sat undisturbed. He was seated cross-legged on a sofa, a book in his lap, which he perused with his head bowed. On a delicate wooden table nearby, a flickering candle cast an orange glow, creating a dim atmosphere in his cell.

Although these conditions hardly befitted a prisoner, Magellan knew better than to interfere. Mysterious phenomena continued to manifest, and he didn't want to risk the guards' safety by giving them direct orders to remove the furnishings.

However, the question of how Lucas had achieved such privileges did cross his mind. Had it been orchestrated by Lucas's "lover"? This notion left Magellan feeling somewhat perplexed. Hence, he refrained from ordering the removal of the additional comforts in Lucas's cell, fearing that the guards might unwittingly meet an untimely demise.

In the meantime, other prisoners in the surrounding cells watched Lucas closely.

"Lucas, how about sharing something with us, to eat or play with? This prison is driving us to madness! I could even tell you the whereabouts of hidden treasure. You won't regret it!" Jobo, the drunken prisoner, made his request with a hopeful smile.

Lucas responded nonchalantly, "What good would knowing the location of a treasure do for me? I have no intention of ever leaving this place." He continued to read his book, seemingly oblivious to his fellow inmates' pleas and threats.

Lucas was engrossed in a book that delved into the world of piracy and its customs.

"Let your lover out; isn't that ghost woman your lover?" Jobo persisted, but Lucas chose to ignore the question and continued to immerse himself in his book, seemingly unfazed by the comments of others.

Ace and Jinbei, who were also prisoners on the sixth level, observed Lucas with a mixture of fascination and unease. They were trapped in their cells and had no control over their own fate, so they had no other choice but to watch the scene unfold or be bored to death.

The sixth level was filled with the clamor of prisoners who tried to bargain, threaten, or persuade Lucas in the hopes of obtaining some of his privileges to alleviate their boredom. Yet Lucas remained unfazed, showing no emotion in response to their pleas.

As the prisoners continued to make noise, Lucas closed his book and looked at the wall clock he had taken from Magellan's office. He was grateful that the clock had glow-in-the-dark features, allowing him to see the time even in the dark cell.

"Hmmmm... it seems Sadako has started her massacre. Let's see the chaos unfold..." Lucas expressed a hint of excitement, then stood up and placed the book back in its original position.

With the candle extinguished, the cell was once again plunged into darkness. Lucas picked up a blindfold from the table and placed it over his eyes, obscuring his vision as he leaned back on the sofa.

In the darkness behind the blindfold, he conjured a horrific scene, a room filled with gore, dismembered limbs strewn about.

The Surveillance room was a scene of death, with all the Cypher Pol agents and personnel present executed and lifeless.

Simultaneously, in a certain room...
