Observing his growing strength and the rapidly accumulating fear points, Lucas couldn't help but smile. "It won't be long before I can acquire another ghost."
His heart raced with anticipation, sensing that Hanako had returned.
Plink, plink... The sound of delicate footsteps echoed, like the dripping of blood.
Wearing a red skirt, Hanako emerged from the shadows.
"Master, I'm back," she said as she returned to Lucas's embrace, sitting on his lap.
"How many souls has Hanako claimed this time?" Lucas held Hanako, gently stroking her head while asking.
"Hanako worked hard and took the lives of 13 prisoners and five guards. Hanako followed the teacher's instructions and eliminated the wicked pirates." Hanako allowed Lucas to touch her head, behaving like a well-trained kitten.
"Hanako is such a good girl." Lucas continued to caress her hair, offering praise for her efforts.
As Lucas commended Hanako's good work, inside the Holy Land of Mariejois, Kong took the cameko back to his residence. He promptly contacted Sengoku, relaying the Five Elders' decision.
Upon hearing this, Sengoku's face changed color. "You must exercise extreme caution; that cameko is not to be underestimated."
The Den Den Mushi that mirrored Sengoku's expressions widened its eyes, beads of cold sweat forming on its forehead, displaying a worrisome demeanor.
"I'll be careful," Kong assured Sengoku, heeding the well-intentioned advice.
A cameko capable of overturning Mariejois was not to be trifled with.
Upon hearing the determination in his old friend's voice, Sengoku felt a modicum of relief.
"By the way, I am also investigating the cameko, and I am about 100% certain that this is connected to a pirate named Lucas. I will keep you informed of any developments."
"Understood. I'll be awaiting your updates," Kong replied before they exchanged a few more words and concluded the call.
Kong connected the cameko to his projector Den Den Mushi, projecting the scene of Sadako emerging from the well once more. He watched with unwavering attention, meticulously absorbing every detail, and only disconnected the cameko once the scene concluded, leaving the projection screen awash with black and white static.
Kong removed his clothes and laid down on the bed, closing his eyes as if to sleep. Yet, if one looked closely, they would notice his vigilance. Even in this apparent slumber, his muscles remained tense and prepared for any unexpected developments. He remained on high alert, knowing that the supernatural entity could appear at any moment.
Simultaneously, miles away, within an obscure, unnoticeable chamber, the top-ranking CP0 agents, including the CP0 leaders, lay in wait, ready to offer support should Kong be unable to handle the ghost.
However, as minutes turned to hours, the supernatural entity did not make an appearance. The time neared five in the morning, just before dawn.
Kong's eyes snapped open.
"Hasn't it shown up yet?"
He stood, donned slippers, and feigned heading to the bathroom. Suddenly, Kong's muscles tensed, and every hair on his body stood on end. His pupils flickered with a dim red light.
Utilizing Observation Haki, he detected a shadow in the corner of the bathroom. And as he focused on it, the shadow in the corner vanished.
"It came out!"
