The girl ran off in embarrassment as Lily strutted away feeling empowered and proud of herself for standing up for herself.
Lily walked down the hall, she heard giggles and whispers behind her. Turning around, she saw a group of girls following her with admiring looks on their faces.
"Hey, that was pretty cool what you did there," one of them said with a smile.
Lily smiled coyly before flipping her long hair over her shoulder. "Oh, it wasn't anything really," she replied casually.
The other girls laughed before one of them spoke up. "Well we think you're awesome," she said smiling.
School ended for the day and Lily couldn't wait to get home. As soon as she got to the door, she started screaming "Mama! Mama! I was awesome today!" Elena smiled at her daughter's enthusiasm before pulling her into a hug.
"I'm so proud of you, Lily," Elena said with a smile. "But let's not get too ahead of ourselves. It's important to stay humble and kind."
