Lily tried to hold back tears as she walked away from the group of girls. She felt alone and out of place in this new school. As she made her way to her next class, she couldn't help but think about home and how much she missed her parents.
Just then, Jack walked into view and saw his boss's daughter standing alone with these bullies surrounding her.
"Is everything alright?" he asked sternly as he approached them.
The girl rolled her eyes before turning around and walking away with her friends following closely behind.
Jack turned towards Lily with concern etched onto his face. "Are you okay?" he asked softly as he wrapped an arm around his boss's daughter's shoulders.
Lily nodded silently before burying herself into his embrace. She didn't want him to see how scared and vulnerable she really was feeling right now.
