After successfully maneuvering through the hallways and resolving the electrical problem, the siblings seemed to have encountered another hurdle. However, instead of feeling defeated, they eagerly grabbed brooms and dustpans, determined to restore the living room to its former state of serenity. Kyle and April stood in the living room, glancing at the shattered glass scattered all over the floor. It had been a chaotic morning, filled with unexpected obstacles and a rather astonishing turn of events. But now, it was time to clean up the mess they hadn't even created.
As they swept away the remnants of broken glass, an idea sparked in Kyle's mind. "You know what, April? Let's replace these broken windows. They've been here for ages, and I think Dad won't even notice." April nodded in agreement, her eyes gleaming with certainty. "You're right, Kyle. He'll be so focused on his business trip that he won't suspect a thing."
They quickly installed the new windows with utmost care and precision, beaming at their handiwork. With the living room restored to its former glory, Kyle and April made a silent pact not to disclose the events of the previous evening to their father. They believed it would only add unnecessary worry to his already hectic life. They rationalized that their secret would be safe, given their father's busy schedule upon his return. The very next day, news of their father's impending return from his business trip alerted them. Today was the day they were scheduled to visit City Hall with him, and they knew they had to maintain their pact.
. . .
"What do you mean you couldn't negotiate properly?!" Mr. Crain screamed into the phone in frustration.
It seemed that his intentions to purchase land for his other business has somehow hit a roadblock. Mr. Crain has been running his successful business that produces vibranium for Servinton for over three decades, but time isn't on his side. The doctor had warned him of a severe cardiac condition which has left him with about a year to live, its name is so complex that he even struggled to remember it. The first episode of the ailment had occurred abruptly in his office which was caused by stress. But despite the grave news and the imminent specter of his mortality, Mr. Crain didn't allow his emotions to spill over onto Kyle and April. He shielded them from his worries, vowing to make the most of the time he had left and secure a future for his children. His employees were well aware of his condition but they had been forbidden to share the news with the family. They respected his wishes, knowing the devastating impact it would have on his wife and children.
Servinton has always been a serene town where land purchases were as straightforward as a summer breeze. However, the tranquility was shattered when Mr. Comodo, a domestic vampire, appeared on the scene. Despite his loner tendencies and constant awareness of his insatiable craving for human blood, he disrupted the once peaceful land market. Mr. Comodo had managed to acquire vast portions of the Servintons' precious lands, leaving the townsfolk disheartened and desperate. Among them was Mr. Crain, a humble business man whose dreams of expanding his modest firms were now threatened by Mr. Comodo's voracious appetite for land ownership, Mr. Crain was left with little to no choice but to approach him for land purchases. Unfortunately, the current prices of the lands were extremely outrageous even for someone like Mr. Crain, he felt as if he were on the verge of another heart attack when the cost of a single piece of land was revealed.
