Daru took his time to show the three what to do so that they could get started with practicing their different forms.
Koro was rigid in his movements and it actually fit his attribute which was earth. Lanira wasn't much of a fighter to begin with, so Daru only sort to teach her some form of self defence, though, the basic academy kahate was still good, he only made some improvements. As for Ann, she fought the way she acted, slow and steady. Kazi even likened what Daru was trying to teach her to the fighting technique his grandmother taught him, only that this one was slower.
In the mean time, while Daru took his time with the three of them, Kazi and Linx spared against each other.
It was really eye opening to fight against an opponent like Linx. Even though Kazi already knew what kind of attack he was expecting, there were still many choices and possibilities that he ended up failing to avoid, block, or even counter.
Linx's attribute was darkness, that much was clear from the fact that he was from the Rakasa clan, it had never been known that a member of that clan had a different attribute.
Linx was good with using the shadow walk technique that some people with the darkness attribute learn. This technique was particularly difficult to learn and most people end up settling for the easier shadow movement technique, but it would seem that Linx was a gifted young child.
'He kept popping up in my blind spots, kind of annoying.' The fact that he still couldn't sense those around him was quite annoying.
'I need to learn some kind of technique to sense those around me through their energy.' Kazi made a mental note to ask Daru for this.
When it was their turn to spar against Daru, Kazi got to witness the difference in fighting experience between himself and Daru. Despite increasing his speed from when he fought Kazi, Linx couldn't land a single hit on Daru, and that was even with Daru having to pay attention to two people.
"Ok, that's enough. Let's get to your part." Daru said as he appeared behind the two boys in a flash. To be more accurate, it was like he melted out of sight and appeared behind them.
'I didn't even sense him.' Linx thought to himself.
"Kazi, the way you fight is kinda unique, who did you learn from?" Daru asked.
Kazi who thought nothing wrong with giving out this piece of information told Daru that it was his grandmother who showed him the technique before she died.
Kazi had only integrated the academy kahate into his own, and even then, it wasn't much since there wasn't much to take.
"Kazi, you have good control of your strength, I can tell that you haven't used up to 50% of what you can, and I'd assume its because this is a spar with your team. Apart from that, you have excellent physical and very perceptive, I have just the thing for you. Come, I only need to make some small changes to your current style and..."
Linx was shocked to hear that Kazi had been playing it soft, after all, he had been serious every since their spar until they fought with Daru.
After Kazi, Daru moved to Linx. Since he had the same attribute as Linx, he naturally had more to teach him than the rest.
"Alright, that's all for now. I will encourage you to do more personal training, it's not like I'm your teacher or something, don't expect me to take you through lectures and such. Come here same time tomorrow, I'll also be getting you some techniques that best suit you."
. . .
The next day was similar to the last. Daru checked their progress, which wasn't too necessary given the fact that they started only a day before. He also brought them some books that contained a technique for each of them, with Kazi being the only one to get two.
For Lanira, she get the 'flame bullet technique.'
Ann got the 'big wave technique.'
Koro got the 'earth rock skin'
Kazi got a wind technique, 'wind blade slash' and fire technique, 'flame bullet'
Linx got the 'shadow claw technique.'
With these techniques, everyone got to practicing and this also gave Daru some free time. Kazi did n't forget to ask Daru for a sensing technique, but the answer he received was quite surprising. In fact, there was no particular sensing technique that would satisfy what Kazi sort. There were several techniques that could maybe map out the surroundings, spy from long distances, but for regular sensing, that was something you just do yourself. Daru put him through and Kazi did the rest himself.
After getting home, he really went deep into learning how to sense his surroundings. This was something he dimed important because there may be times where he is unable to use his normal sense and would need to sense through energy.
First, he tried to recall from his previous life t.v shows and how it was done there. Funny enough, he couldn't remember anything. Maybe there was indeed one that explained it, but he couldn't remember at all.
'Guess I'll have to advice myself on this one.'
Kazi thought about how to go about it in a number of ways. The first thing that came to mind was echo location. 'I can send my own ora out in small waves, and when they hit with another person's ora of similar wavelength, then it gets sent back to me and I then know their location based off the distance and time taken...' Then again, Kazi realised that he wasn't a machine after trying it once. He had actually forgotten that he didn't need to rely on physics alone in this world.
After a day of trying to figure it out, he finally got it. Now, he could sense the presence of anything that had ora, even a tiny amount, as long as they were within a certain range of course. '15 metres is the limit for now.' The good thing with this was the fact that it was something he had to decide to do for him to be able to do it. According to him, it was an active skill, most of his skills were.
Turned out the technique his grandmother taught him for concealing his ora wasn't all that helpful, what did the real work was the seal on his stomach. The technique wasn't entirely useless, but it was barely helpful as it only helped to restrain the small whisps of ora that would leak from him, of course, the seal itself was nothing great but it worked while it lasted, this was because Kazi had removed the seal.
'It was only effective until my ora passed a certain extent after all. It's better like this. If I need it in future I can always make a better one.' He had studied this one enough to know how it was made.
