. . . A Year Later . . .
During this time, Kazi spent his time practicing the techniques he had gotten to near perfection. Of course, it wasn't like he had the free time always too, as their team went on more missions too. Just within a year, they had completed around 20 missions, and none were easy missions. It was one problem or another with these missions, some were too long, and others were more difficult than presented on paper.
Kazi would also find the reason why he hates the two girls during this period. He wasn't alone, Linx was on his side as Lanira would be against both of them as much as she could. Ann on the other hand would just follow along with whatever Lanira said, and Koro was stuck always trying to remedy the situation. Of course, Kazi spoke the least during such happenings, it wasn't worth it. She needed to accept the simple fact that she was weaker than most of the team, that was it.
Also, towards the end of the year, the war that had been looming over the nations broke out, though not in full force yet.
As expected, tak Ugad was behind everything, trying to provoke Jalam and Atar to face each other. Quite unfortunate that both sides were smart enough to see through their plans. Even then, one would think that both sides, Atar and Jalam would join forces to fight against Ugad, but they would be very wrong. The problem was that both sides were extremely greedy and would not stand to be cheated or not use this opportunity to take from the other. Atar had what Jalam wanted, and Jalam had what Atar wanted, as for Ugad, they wanted what both sides wanted and had nothing to give.
Once the war began, Dragon Tooth became without a leader for a while, so naturally the missions also ceased as the team without their captain was still deemed too young for this stage of war. Of course, when things got heated, even those who graduate from the academy newly will be sent to the frontlines, either as forces themselves or to assist in the camps and anywhere at all.
"Heh, I have to avoid this war as much as possible for now, I'm far from ready at the moment."
After checking the earnings from his first mission, Kazi had instantly become somewhat of a rich kid. In fact, after selling everything he didn't need and that he dimed to not be of use to him, his net worth rose to 3 million Sens, and after a year of doing missions, his net worth became 3.5 million. He later lost some money to weapons and such, bring his total cash back to 3 million.
(A/N: So... I can't remember if I had said what currency this world uses, so in case I did before, cratch that. The official currency of this world is Sen)
. .
During mid year, Kazi thought he had been degrading in his skills which were very important, so he bought a couple animals like goats, pigs, dogs and some that he caught in the forests. With those animals, he practiced his surgical skills, going further than he had learnt from looking at surgeries in the hospital those days when he went there to learn.
From simple bone shifting relocation, to managing a patient with a broken leg to managing an animal with a broken skull, he practiced it all, and of course, he had to create the problems to solve them, how else would it had worked?
After getting accustomed with the simple stuff, he moved to the more advanced stuff. By the end of it all, he had successfully conducted several heart transplants and various organ transplants. These one were rarely successful as he lacked the necessary equipments or techniques to aid the process. When he was at the hospital, the doctor could use a certain visual technique that allowed his eyes to function like a microscope, so he could zoom in as much as he wanted to cut precisely.
. . . A year Later . . .
Now the war had fully begun, and apart from Numbra, all the other tak had joined the war, which now included Trifall.
One random morning...
Kazi woke up early as usual, ready to step out and do some light exercises. Though he was sure that everywhere was safe as there had been no attacks inside he town, he still had this feeling of not being alone, which bothered him a bit, but he brushed it off.
Beside, no matter how crazy someone would be, they wouldn't commit any serious crime within one of the major clans in the town. Even though the clan was small and on the weak side in ranking, it was still one of the major clans.
Kazi didn't need to leave through the front door as usual, not only will that noise wake up his mother, it was also unnecessary, after all he could just use his window as he always does, a pass way he had gotten too accustomed to.
As Kazi dropped from his window, he felt something. This was a very familiar feeling, it was the same one he had about two years back, and a familiar feeling he had experienced several times during missions.
Kazi was currently mid-air and it would seem that he couldn't turn to evade any attack at the moment, until his feet touched ground.
He looked towards the old tree in the backward and noticed something, a projectile, flying towards him. He immediately looked passed the incoming projectile to see if he would catch a glimpse of the one who threw the weapon at him. Surprisingly enough, he failed to spot anyone.
In the end, Kazi didn't need to move or do anything, all he needed to do was continue falling to the ground, it was simple, 'it wasn't aimed at me.' Because of this, Kazi ignored it completely and focused on looking for who the attacker was, though he failed ultimately. Once he landed, Kazi used shadow faint and rapidly moved around, but he would find nothing, not a single of someone being anywhere near his house.
'This situation... Looks like Daru is back.'
. .
After checking the contents of the letter or more accurately, note, Kazi wasn't surprised to see that they had been summoned to the 98th training ground as always. He could already guess what the news would be, thankfully, he was ready.
He headed towards the training ground an hour later and happened to arrived right on time. There he met the rest of his team, apart from Daru. They all seemed... the way he remembered, nothing was new.
Shortly after, Daru showed up as he appeared out of nowhere.
"Safe welcome, Captain!" They all said in unison.
"Yeah, I guess so." After some seconds of silence, Daru spoke.
"Heh... You will get the news later, I just came to get you guys ready as I don't really have time to waste, not that I was given a lot to begin with." He said the last part under his breath, Kazi heard it all though.
"You will be drafted for the war, and spread across the different camps, that's how it should be normally, but you guys will be joining me once you are deployed, in the frontlines of Jalam. As for why that is, simple, I am your captain, naturally you are under me and will be deployed in the same battlefield as me, same goes for others that are part of a squad already, for the rest, they will be assigned to one once you finish the two weeks training."
After that bit, Daru left for the west battlefield where the war took place majorly on the borders of both nations.
That very day after Daru relayed them the information, they received their official letters. Kazi's mother was heartbroken as expected, but Kazi couldn't be bothered about her feelings at the moment.
Daru gave them a bit of insiders information about different things, so that their time at the training camp would be used to the utmost efficiency.
During these two weeks, Kazi spent his time well, training more with his techniques and perfecting them even further and getting accustomed with using them during battle. Of course, this was a training camp, finding opponents to practice against was as easy as breathing in and out, after all, there were a lot of people eager to prove themselves.
Also, everyone was given a C rank technique, of course, whether they could actually learn and make use of it was a different case, but at least they were given assistance in increasing their strength.
Kazi had also discovered that the logic of this world was a bit unthinkable. It was funny how a second class sutori would be able to split a river using a water technique, but they aren't able to do something as simple telekinesis using ora. In this world, people who could achieve such a feet were seen as masters, people above the first class. Well, this would mean Kazi himself was a master, since he could achieve such a feat.
Telekinesis is everyman's dream, to be able to move stuff with just the power of the mind, so naturally, Kazi practiced to be able to do similar. Even though he couldn't exactly move with his mind, he could still control his ora to move things not connected to him physically. Of course, there were limits to this, like distance, weight of object and such.
After two weeks of training and undergoing drills for formations and whatnot, the time had finally come.
That evening, all the sutori in the training camp were gathered in an assembly. After addressing them for a short bit, "Tomorrow, this little camp comes to a close and I believe you all know where you are headed. Alright, 6 a.m tomorrow! Dismiss!"
Kazi just went straight to his tent and went to sleep. While the others ran around getting ready, Kazi was resting his body, he had already done the running around before today, everything was ready. From food that could last even up to a month before spoiling to extra weapons, especially throwing knives that were expendable, swords, medicine pills and nutrition pills which he personally prepared himself, gas masks, since he would be up against opponents that use mostly water type techniques, and enough medical and surgical equipments that would put the first aid box to shame. With all these, he was surely ready.
