Chapter 5 - Mage Enforcer Test

After taking all the proper preparations for the day, Ervin headed straight down towards the Mage Enforcer organization.

Strolling down the radiant streets, he could hear that many were still talking about the tragic deaths of Robert and Carly.

Many express condolences for their deaths or general sympathy. While there was another set of people that slightly amused Ervin.

Several groups held genuine killing intent in their tones.

"Damn! What freak would actually take it upon himself to kill two promising talents? That young man and woman had bright futures for themselves and everywhere else."

"Hopefully, wherever that bastard is, he's living in constant paranoia. That young woman's family has a decent amount of power. They can most certainly pull some strings to bring that bastard down."

These were the older Mages all expressing their emotions towards the situation. What they focused on more than anything was the fact that yellow-level and orange-level talent had died.

It was understandable for them to be so riled up over this aspect.

From what Ervin can recall, yellow-level talents have the ability to reach the Perfection stage of the Advanced Mage realm. The third realm among the power of Mages.

While orange-level talents have the ability to reach the Perfection stage of the Spirit Mage realm. The fourth realm of Mages and the realm where one's magical power undergoes an immense, fundamental qualitative leap where they become superior to anyone else below them.

Taking away talents like that genuinely hurt some form of their society.

None of what was said could affect Ervin's mood. He soon reached a massively tall and wide set of buildings all glowing in the radiant light of magical power.

The glimmering Mana gleaming from the unique magic insignia symbols drew into anyone's eyes, whether they were a Mage or mortal.

It tingled their minds and caused their souls to faintly tremble from joy. Anyone would feel safe, securely protected under the basking glow of this estate.

Naturally, this was the Mage Enforcer Organization. One of, if not the strongest organization across the entire Lightwall City.

It didn't matter if it was a wealthy noble family, sect power, or a powerful Mage academy, nobody would dare go against the Mage Enforcer Organization.

When Ervin came, he instantly noticed that there was a considerable line going towards one of the smaller buildings of this estate.

This building had a magical sign projection saying, 'New Graduates Entrees sign here.'

With his goal spotted, Ervin quickly got onto the line. The people on this line were vaguely familiar to him. Most who had arrived here were from the same academy, but nobody noticed Ervin's arrival.

As he expected, since the people here would know Robert and Carlya at least a little bit better than other folks, their expressions were genuinely somber with all the recent news.

The conversations shared with those who were friends did not surprise Ervin.

"Just what kind of freak you have to be to just kill Miss Caryla? She's one of the kindest nobles at our academy!"

"And even Robert deserved respect. He passed the Mage test despite his lower talent. That guy would've gone far if not for that bastard."

Hearing all these conversations nearly gave Ervin a hint of amusement. He didn't really feel anything from the genuine sadness people were feeling. Although, he, of course, could understand the chaotic feeling people had when their close one dies or a famous one dies.

Even still, he felt the irony that the person they were denouncing as a bastard was standing right next to them, also waiting to be a righteous Mage Enforcer ready to uphold justice.

And nobody would ever know it was him thanks to his lucky genes gaining the overpowering ability of 'Complete Invisibility.'

With the same calm indifference, Ervin waited until it was his eventually his turn.

The inside of the protector building was obviously less luxurious than the main buildings. But the space was still large enough to hold several dozens of buildings.

The interior design all radiated faint lights of Mana, giving everything an extra layer of splendor, making anyone feel they were truly entering a place beyond the common man can go to.

Ervin was taken directly to the examiner room where he was met with an Mage Enforcer.

Ervin didn't have to mind his gaze as he curiously studied the Mage Enforcer before him.

The Mage Enforcer in question stood at an imposing height with an extremely fit physique that radiated power to dominate the average person.

His Mage Robes were intricately designed for both protection and to exude a sense of superiority, that he truly holds an important place in society.

It was a noble elegance mixed with the domineering pressure of a battel-hardened warrior.

Even Ervin felt a sense of pressure simply being in this Mage Enforcer's presence.

Many others would violently tremble, gasping for air as they break out in sweat in only a matter of seconds in this situation.

But Ervin wanted to start his Magical Path to explore every depth there is to Magic. Showing any kind of hesitation here would just harm his final results.

Unlike many others in his position, Ervin had decently better control over his Mana, especially with his improvement of practicing the entire night.

He flowed Mana through his nerves to calm his tension, allowing his mind to rest easy even next to an immense presence.

The stare he gave to the Mage Enforcer was the same calming indifference he entered the room with.

"I see." The Mage Enforcer suddenly nodded. "A greater mental fortitude than the common ones. Alright, here."

As he spoke, the Mage Enforcer tossed a clear crystal ball toward Ervin.

Catching the crystal ball made Ervin feel as if a jolt of lightning streaked through his mind. His barely developed Magical Sense could just barely feel something flow out of this crystal ball. A flow of Mana both familiar and completely foreign to him.

The Mage Enforcer explained, "Use your Mana to light the crystal core to its limit and then shatter it to pieces. Depending on how quickly you get it done will determine your final score."

"Alright." Ervin nodded, his gaze intently focusing on the crystal core.

With a simple thought, his soul force linked to his Magical Core. Vibrations began to flow out of his red-core, pushing out waves of mystical Mana energy.

This time, Ervin flowed Mana straight into his arm, directing it to fuse straight into the crystal core.

The process seemed simple enough. But the very moment his Mana touched the crystal core, Ervin experienced something akin to a fog trying to mystify his mind.

The fog would disturb his Mana control which would burst apart his current flow of Mana. Getting through this requires him to understand the principles within the crystal core.

For a brief moment, Ervin focused on understanding the magical principles.

Even with his red-color talent, due to the extreme amount of studying Ervin does practically every day for a year, he was repelling the magical fog within his mind at a reasonable pace.

This pace would only push him to the average results of any other red-color talent. Not too bad, but he would be treated with the average resources of anyone else.

Ervin didn't mind being average. However, he also didn't want to limit himself too much to the point his opportunities to get ahead would also be limited.

Thus, Ervin decided to just slightly cheat. He had to pour all of his mental focus into this task. But by splitting his soul force, he forced a different stream of Mana down into his genes, directly awakening his Innate ability Complete Invisibility.

Instead of flowing Complete Invisibility Mana through his body, he only directs the Mana towards his brain and the flow of Mana trying to enter the crystal core.

Both streams of Mana simply touched his brain and other flow of Mana for a second.

In response, Ervin nearly widened his eyes in awe.

The mystifying fog was completely transparent to Ervin's magical mind space!
