Chapter 270 - 270 The Boys: Homelander and Queen Maeve save the Day – Allen and Hughie are Fugitives from Justice.

A couple of guys were walking on the sidewalk while debating whether The Deep, the Aquaman of this world, or Translucent, who is an invisible man with diamond skin, was better.

"Listen, Translucent beats The Deep, dude!"

"Translucent is only invisible. How could he win?"

"Exactly, he can sneak up and take out The Deep!"

They were having the classic conversation between friends about superheroes, unaware that they were in mortal danger.

...

An armored cash transport truck from "American Secure Transport" was driving recklessly, as if it was escaping from something or someone.

Just as it seemed it was about to hit the two boys, a woman fell from the sky and the truck crashed into her. But instead of a tragedy, the truck shattered like a crushed aluminum can without even moving the woman, who appeared to be a steel pole stuck in the ground.

The driver was injured, the co-driver barely managed to get out only to vomit blood, and inside the truck, a third man looked horrified at the woman, who was wearing an outfit reminiscent of Xena the Warrior Princess or an Amazon from Themyscira.

Inside the truck, a shout was heard as the man was being beaten, and then silence fell.

"No! ahhh!"

The two men looked at each other in terror. They were dressed in suits and were armed, making it clear that they didn't work for "American Secure Transport." They took the two amazed boys hostage.

"Don't come any closer!" one of the thieves shouted.

The Caucasian woman with brown hair had a confident and slightly mocking smile.

As the thieves grew more nervous, she didn't move. Soon, two laser beams began melting one of the thief's weapons, and the molten metal burned his flesh, making him scream.

"AAHHH!!"

From the sunlit sky descended a caped man, a scene that DC fans would be accustomed to, but something was off. If this were a movie, the background music would be a discordant tune. If Allen were here, instead of feeling relief, he would feel disgusted and the people in the Chat would feel a shudder when they saw this muscular man with a superhero suit and blond hair descending from the sky.

The other thief begged, but the man threw him into the sky with a smile, causing him to fall and explode against the ground in a bloody disaster.

Instead of horrifying the crowd, they started cheering. The boys asked for photos and filmed videos. Quickly, this made the news almost immediately as if it had been planned.

It was a staged scene with superficial smiles from the heroes who needed no introduction; they were the versions of Wonder Woman and Superman in this world, Queen Maeve and Homelander.

Everything seemed correct with the angles and the television cameras that appeared out of nowhere as if they were trying to recreate a classic hero-saving-the-day scene. But shouldn't that be impossible? Why would the lives of two boys be in danger for something like this?

After the applause and autograph sessions, "Superman" disappeared into the sky. The woman remained on the ground as her fake smile vanished as if she had completed her task.

Suddenly, she received a call. It was Ashley Barret, her manager and the person responsible for supporting The Seven, the world's greatest heroes.

"We have a problem; you need to come back now!"

The woman, known as Queen Maeve, a legendary warrior from an unknown land who became a superhero, frowned.

Ashley usually called crises situations like falling popularity, poor sales of a bad movie, or perhaps some social media controversy. But it wasn't something that couldn't wait an hour, so Maeve decided to have breakfast first, still suffering from a hangover from the previous day.

"You need to come now!!"

Margaret, because her real name wasn't Maeve but Margaret "Maggie" Shaw and she wasn't a legendary warrior from ancient lands; all of that was a fabrication by Vought America.

Maggie quickly flew back.

(A/N: In the comics, most superheroes could fly, and it wasn't something so special.)

Maggie felt that something was wrong, and this time it wasn't something as simple as poor sales.

...

(With Allen and Hughie)

"I... I can't believe it! Why would A-Train do that?!!" Hughie bit a nail, something dangerous to do while driving.

He was upset, furious, and had every right to be. Even though he was a calm and peaceful man, he couldn't avoid feeling anger at seeing how his girlfriend had died in the most brutal way he could imagine.

Hughie tried to convince himself that it was all a dream, a nightmare! But behind him was Robin, covered only with her jacket, as her clothes hadn't been reconstructed after being resurrected. Also, there was a younger albino Supe, smiling as he looked out the window. This made Hughie face reality.

Allen, for his part, understood that Hughie was feeling bad but couldn't help reminding him that he was driving.

"Yeah, it's messed up, buddy, but you should focus on driving because, unlike me, you and your girlfriend will die if you crash into a telephone pole."

"I'm sorry!" Hughie apologized. He stopped biting his nails and reduced his speed.

They both fell silent until they reached a traffic light, and Hughie put his head on the steering wheel, banging it several times.

"What should I do?!"

Hughie was in big trouble. Despite his disappointment with the superhero A-Train, the police might be looking for him right now. Maybe they had already contacted his parents, or perhaps even The Seven were searching for him.

Allen remained silent for a moment before patting Hughie's shoulder. Hughie looked up to see Allen smiling, amused by the situation.

"Don't complicate things. Just say I threatened you to help me, and that's it." Allen laughed and then leaned back in his seat. "Besides, between an innocent witness and a dangerous villain, which one do you think they'd want to catch?"

Hughie was surprised by Allen's words. For starters, Hughie admitted he knew nothing about his albino friend except that he was a Supe powerful enough to face one of The Seven. This made no sense; before ascending, superheroes were under the camera, where their popularity was managed from the start.

With a look like Allen's and a strength on par with The Seven, he could be as popular as Homelander in a month or less. But he was completely unknown...

'Could he be a villain?'

Hughie looked at Allen. Whether it was his actions or just his presence, he felt different, different from how superheroes felt. Seeing one always gave the impression that they were something other than a person. Hughie thought that the chill and fear superheroes could evoke was common, but the young man beside him had the power to crush him like an ant, yet Hughie didn't feel the slightest fear.

'What am I thinking? this guy saved Robin!...' Hughie shook his head snapping out of his thoughts.

"I couldn't do that..." Hughie laughed at himself and began to drive. Even as an ordinary man with fears and insecurities, he couldn't just throw his savior into the fire. Hughie could not explain why he wanted to help this villain if he feared being imprisoned by the heroes.

Allen smiled. "I see..."

...

"The Seven... I wonder if they're all like this?" Hughie muttered, not expecting an answer.

The Seven are the equivalent of the Justice League or the Avengers, the main superhero team in this world. There are countless stories of them saving the world from apocalyptic threats, like alien invasions and monsters from other dimensions. Of course, no one had seen these so-called aliens except for some news videos, but strangely, no one questioned it; they just accepted it.

"Whi knows..." Allen replied but Hughie noticed that he knew more than he was telling him.

Despite his apparent good humor Allen also felt complicated.

The state of this world was very frustrating. A part of him felt like leaving to avoid doing something he would regret if he stayed. Allen felt that he would end up killing many degenerate heroes if he saw them in person doing what he already knew they did...

"..."

Allen decided to stop thinking about it and relaxed to watch the chat while Hughie nervously drove.

"Nots, don't worry with Allen-tan by your side everything will be fine!~," said Nokotan, sitting on Allen's shoulder, eating a deer cracker, although, with her size, the cracker looked enormous. Unfortunately, she forgot that she was in the range of system incognito mode and Hughie didn't hear her.

That was good because it could make the nervous man crash if he saw a mini anime girl on Allen's shoulder.

"NOOOO!!"

Allen smiled as Bocchi screamed outside the car. She took advantage of her size to ride Timcampy, thinking it would be comfortable since Timcampy was chubby at the moment. But Tim was offended and began to fly with Bocchi clinging to his back.

Allen would normally save Bocchi, but he thought that since she hadn't teleported to her clothes, so... she didn't seem to be in real danger. (Or maybe she was so scared she couldn't activate her powers -_-)

– Bocchi in mortal danger is still cute! ~

– Hey, what kind of fan are you?! Allen, help Bocchi!

– Fool, Bocchi is heaven and earth! She can turn into Godzilla if she feels threatened, so she'll be fine.

Allen didn't know what to say to the comments about Bocchi. She had mainly two types of fans: those who wanted to protect her from everything and those who saw her as a divine, almost religious figure.

Allen wondered if everyone, including Bocchi herself, had forgotten that she could fly (they did).

Allen glanced at the rearview mirror at the girl named Robin. Apparently, there were no side effects. The system wasn't omnipotent; it had never resurrected anyone, especially not in a forbidden world.

Forbidden worlds are those for which Allen's system was not designed, basically any world outside Marvel/DC.

"By the way... who are you?"

"Isn't it obvious? I'm a Supe my name is Allen Walker... nice to meet you Heh."

"Ah!... s...sorry. I'm Hugh Campbell. You can call me Hughie; everyone does."

"Haha, alright Hughie."

Allen preferred the simple and most comfortable explanation for this world, saying he was a Supe.

Supes are humans who were injected with Compound V, which is like a version of Captain America's super-soldier serum in this world. Created by Vought America, it gives people superpowers.

Allen was surprised. Supes not only have powers like a mutant from his world but also base-level super strength and super resilience. Of course, he already knew this, but seeing it in person felt different.

Low-caliber bullets wouldn't harm them, nor would poisons, acids, or explosions of a certain range. It depends on each Supe's level of power; some have very high levels like A-Train, who endured a kick from Allen with only a bit of pain and maybe a couple of broken teeth.

Rick – Big deal. I can improve that serum in five minutes *burp*

Tony – As always, Mr. Humility has spoken.

Hulk – Hulk wants to smash the blue-dressed guy... not sure why but Hulk wants to do it.

"Calm down, people. This is how this world is; you have to accept it. Sometimes everything is just crap..."

Allen didn't believe his own words. He felt the need to go to Vought and hit everyone he saw. Of course, he wouldn't and couldn't do that; at the moment, he didn't have enough power available.

Moreover, not everything is sunshine and roses for Supes. Compound V is very dangerous; many who are injected with it die, and others get useless powers and are discarded.

The harsh reality is that in this world, superpowers were invented in a lab, and only the chosen ones became Vought's puppets.

The chat started discussing this world. Many people didn't know what The Boys were, but it began to spread like wildfire.

One thing they noticed was that this world seemed to be a mix of The Boys: live action and The Boys: comics. The problem was that the plots of both were so different that it was impossible to know how the canon of this world would play out.
