Chapter 1 - It's Just the Beginning

The day was sunny, it was spring, March 29th, Sirius's birthday. Sirius was turning 16. The cake had blue and red blobs all over it, with 16 blue candles lit with fire on top. His parents were around him, singing him the birthday song. The day was perfect, he couldn't have wished for more. That was at least what he thought.

Sirus hears the window break behind him, and a shard of glass hits him in the back of his neck. He turns around, startled, trying to process what is going on. He sees something, something with gray skin… could it be a vampire? Something hit him on the head, hard, making him dizzy, and somewhat drowsy. He falls onto the floor with a loud thud heard across the house. The last thing he could remember before passing out was the brown, wooden floor, covered in small shards of glass, with the legs of the pale creatures running after his family.

After an hour or so, he wakes up bleeding from the shards on the floor, with some stuck in his skin. He gets up and looks around the small cabin, trying to find where everyone has gone. He walks into the kitchen, to find his parents on the floor. He walks up, they are awfully pale. He gets closer so that he can touch their skin, it is cold. He starts to panic, tears forming in his eyes... Could it be? He rushes up to their neck, hoping to at least see a bite mark, but no. There was no mark, his father might be dead. "No, no, no, no! This can't be, they have to be alive!" He screams out. He presses his fingers on his father's neck, trying to find his pulse, but can't find it. He is starting to cry, tears running down his cheeks. How could this happen? And on his birthday? He runs up to his mother, hoping she, at least, is alive. He and his mother have always had a difficult relationship, as his mother refused to believe that Sirus is gay. He tries to find her pulse, but it's not there. His parents are gone, and there is nothing he can do.

He curls up into a ball, holding his knees up to his face, and starts crying. He can't help it, what was he meant to do? His parents just died, and they were the only thing left for him. He looks outside, to see many bats flying around, only able to assume they are vampires, he sits down, dazed from all of the recent events. The sun was no longer visible, with only dark gray clouds covering what once was blue. He goes into the cabinet, to find something to heal his wounds.

After finding some medicine, he starts to hear repetitive slapping on the floor behind him, as if someone was trying to pull their whole body weight with one arm. He turns around. He sees his father, with one arm, pulling the rest of his body, his head facing the floor. His father lifts up his head, revealing the empty eye sockets and the blood pouring down his face. His skin was sewn together, covered in bruises. The patched skin getting closer to him, he tries to back up, but the counters behind him block the way. He's panicked, sweating, muttering threats, and for his father to get away, but he wasn't listening. The man kept on getting closer, eventually grabbing his leg, muttering "This is all because of you," in a soft, low voice. "NO, NO, NO!"  He screams out, waking up in a cold sweat. He hates remembering that day. The day it all started.Â
