Chapter 25 - Chapter 23

Cheers erupted from the small crowd as you and Lokix celebrated the hard-fought victory. Jenny handed you a badge-shaped token and a Poké Ball containing your reward.

"Take this Pokémon as a symbol of your strength and determination," Jenny said warmly. "I have no doubt you'll go far in your journey."

Lokix stood by your side, looking stronger and more confident than ever as you accepted the prize.

Jenny handed you the Poké Ball with a playful grin. "Here you go, Arth. A special reward for your victory—and your, uh, unique team preferences."

You raised an eyebrow, curious. "What do you mean by that?"

Jenny chuckled, crossing her arms. "Oh, come on. You've got a whole lineup of Bug-types! Araquanid, Lokix, Durant... It's like you're building a bug army!"

Herbert laughed, slapping your shoulder. "She's got a point, Arth. Maybe you should call yourself the 'Bug Catcher King.'"

You rolled your eyes. "Hey, Bugs are strong, okay? They're versatile, underestimated, and can hold their own against anything."

Jenny smirked. "No argument there. But I figured I'd give you something a little different. Meet Turtwig."

She released the Pokémon from the Poké Ball, and the small Grass-type materialized, looking up at you with wide, curious eyes. Its sapling-like twig swayed slightly as it waddled over, nudging your leg with a soft cry.

"A Turtwig?" you asked, crouching down to meet it at eye level.

Jenny nodded. "It's not a Bug, but it's got its charm. This one's not much of a battler—it's more of a peaceful type. But who knows? Maybe you can help it find its strength."

Herbert grinned. "Oh, this is gonna be fun. A Grass-type in your Bug crew. I'm sure it'll fit right in."

Jacob, ever the practical one, said, "Turtwig could round out your team. Grass coverage is valuable."

You gently patted Turtwig's head, feeling its warm, steady presence. "I'll make sure it feels welcome. Even if it's not a Bug, it's still part of the team."

Jenny chuckled. "Good attitude. Just don't let your other Pokémon bully it. Turtwig's more into peaceful strolls than battles."

As you traveled, it became clear that Turtwig was an outlier. While your Bug-types trained with fervor and tackled challenges head-on, Turtwig preferred to meander through the grass, stopping to admire flowers or nap under trees.

During a sparring session, Araquanid was practicing its Water Pulse, and Lokix was darting around with Agility drills. Turtwig, meanwhile, was snoozing in the shade.

Herbert pointed and snickered. "Yup, definitely not a fighter. Did you get a mascot instead of a Pokémon, Arth?"

You sighed. "Turtwig's got potential. It's just… different. It doesn't have to be a battler to be part of the team."

Jacob nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe Turtwig's strength isn't in fighting but in supporting the group. Sometimes a Pokémon's presence can bring balance."

You watched as Turtwig woke up, yawning and stretching before waddling over to nuzzle Araquanid's leg. The larger Pokémon paused, tilting its head before chittering softly in response. Lokix stopped mid-drill, eyeing Turtwig before giving a small nod of acknowledgment.

A smile crossed your face. "See? Turtwig's already finding its place."

As we stepped off the boat and onto the shores of Aparri, the salty air greeted us, and the bustling sound of fishermen at work filled the background. I couldn't help but notice the distinct vibe of the place—a mix of vibrant culture and the untamed beauty of nature.

"Arth!" a familiar voice called out from behind me. I turned around and saw James, my self-proclaimed rival, standing with his usual smug grin. His Pokémon team flanked him, the unmistakable bulk of Clodsire leading the pack.

"Oh, great…" I muttered under my breath. "What do you want, James?"

"What do I want? To show you how much stronger I've become since our last battle, of course!" he declared, pointing at me dramatically.

"Can't we just enjoy the scenery for once?" I sighed. My friends exchanged glances, half-amused and half-worried.

"No way. I've heard the buzz about you, Arth. Bug-type trainer, huh? Let's see if your creepy crawlies can handle my team!" James retorted, already reaching for his first Poké Ball.

The battlefield was a makeshift one on the sandy beach, with waves occasionally lapping close to our feet. A small crowd began to gather, curious to see the two trainers square off.

"Go, Skrelp!" James shouted as he sent out his Water/Poison Pokémon. Its camouflage blended well with the coastal scenery.

"Alright, Araquanid, let's show them what we've got!" I called, sending out my towering water spider. Its sheer size and glistening water bubble made an immediate impression.

James started off strong.

"Skrelp, use Sludge Bomb!"

The attack sailed through the air, but Araquanid's Water Bubble ability weakened the Poison-type move.

"Araquanid, use Water Pulse!" I countered. The attack hit Skrelp hard, but it managed to stay afloat, retaliating with Dragon Pulse.

After a tense exchange, Araquanid's strength and training prevailed, and Skrelp fainted. James recalled it with a slight smirk.

"Not bad, Arth. Let's see how you handle this one! Go, Whirlipede!"

The Bug/Poison Pokémon rolled onto the field, spinning its spiked body menacingly.

"Whirlipede, use Poison Tail!" James shouted. The attack struck Araquanid, leaving it poisoned but still standing.

"Araquanid, use Protect!" I commanded. The protective barrier negated Whirlipede's next attack.

With a combination of Water Pulse and clever dodging, Araquanid managed to take down Whirlipede, but the poison left it too weak to continue.

"Return, Araquanid. You did great," I said, sending out Lokix next.

James grinned as he sent out Toxel. "Time for some fun, Toxel! Use Nuzzle!"

Toxel's electric charge paralyzed Lokix instantly, leaving it struggling to move. But Lokix wasn't done yet.

"Lokix, use Agility to break through!" I shouted. The nimble Bug-type shook off the paralysis and hit back with a powerful Skitter Smack.
