It's freaking sticky webs! An improved version of string shot, so by going through that Dewpider can and should be able to learn string shot!! The advantage of string shot is mainly to get some speed by swinging around and tying opponents with precise flow
And sticky web can't do that, its main use is to capture and set up the field, imagine you have a speedy flyer, you can use the sticky web to capture that bird or you can use string shot to have it pull you out of the way, or just basically capturing pokemon or people, using the sticky web you can have your enemy incapacitated with its entire body or just capture a group of them and be done with it
And using string shot to tie them… see a convenient move to have, by the way, this is more like a natural spider move, i mean you can see a spider web that captures their prey and strings that are wrapped around their prey for preservation… so a spider not knowing string shot??
Does not make sense to me, anywho, me and my little partner to go through the poke center and stare at some of the old trainers who were teaching some kids, while also telling my partner what they were doing, after writing some of the 'techniques' the old trainers teach
That was unrelatable to me at the moment, we went to the mission board and saw some of the old missions that i did when i still didn't have my Pokemon, then chose 2 missions, which repel a group of caterpie and helped farm
Now you guys are probably asking me why I chose these missions, besides the rewards, 700 poke dollars and 250 poke dollars respectively, it is a sort of training to me and my little spider, the first one serves as how we will deal with a battle while the second one is pretty much related to efficiency, persistence and training moves
Now we all know that training gives precise results but we can't deny that boring way would just pass through? But doing the training while getting rewards?? A very much liked result!! So, in a way, we were efficiently training!
Now unto the missions, while passing through a rough patch of bushes there i saw 5 caterpie, too many for my little spider…
"Okay there are too many Caterpie in the tree which is bad for us, but let's try negotiating first and ask them if we can have a battle if they agree"

Me and Dewpider walked closer to the tree where the caterpie's were and put my hands in the air to show i wasn't a threat
"Piiee??"
"I was sent here on a mission that you guys were bothering a local person and they wished for you guys to move out"
" !!Pie!!"
"That is the mission but i am willing to move you guys to a safer place if you guys would want that"
"Cater Pie"
"Caaaa"
"Piiee"
The bug type huddled together and talked to themselves for a minute and turned to me and dewpider

"Pii Dew Der Pid Pider"
"Caaa Pii Pi"
"Deww?"
"Caa Ter"
"Pie Pie"
"Pi pi der Dew"
While the Pokemon were talking I was taking notes about their interactions, and what was so fascinating about it was that the caterpie clearly liked the idea of moving but this interrogation is far in advance, the caterpie was truly showing intelligence
This is very rare since most 1st stage Pokemon doesn't show intelligence, mainly because they are babies or a few months old only, courtesy of the books that i read, and through my observations. It is pretty much real because you will see 1st stage Pokemon accompanied by their parents or their evolutions
In the case of caterpie and kakuna? most of them stay with their groups until they reach adulthood

Startled by my partner, i looked at the bug Pokemon and then looked at my partner
"Dewpider dew"
"So they want to battle first?"
Then i gained a lot of nods
"Okay!"
"Go, Dewpider! Use bubble"
…Okay somehow i am fighting the 5 caterpie but hey experience isn't it?
Bubbles formed at the butt of my Pokemon and spew them towards the 5 caterpie, but the caterpie's couldn't dodge because they were after all a type of worm, so they tackled Dewpider, rushing in through the bubbles that
My spider kept on doing
"Dewpider, move to the left and use sticky web and trap them all!"
While the 5 Pokemon rushed to my spider (As fast as they could) my Pokemon weaved a web-like structure and waited for the perfect opportunity when the caterpie landed on where my Pokemon was, my spider released the web and spam bubble at the 5 of them
Of course, we still didn't train much and because of that, my spider had to take a few seconds stop to which the 5 bug Pokemons took as a way to escape the web where they were pinned down
One of the caterpies spewed string shot straight at my Pokemon, which startled Dewpider, and saw a caterpie launch itself with tackle, while the other 4 were shaking off the strings on their bodies, one of them saw the first caterpie and
Redid what the first one did, and the other 3 copied it as well
"This is bad!! Dewpider surround yourself with bubbles!!"
"Dew!!!"
"Oh no"
It was a direct hit… and then got hit again and again
"Noo, Dewpider!!"
"Piiiii!!!!!"
While the 5 caterpie were surrounding my spider mon, Dewpider shot a bubble around him and then dashed towards one of them, which shook the 5 bugs, which was enough distraction to heal a small amount of health for my Dewpider
The bad thing is Dewpider has limited stamina and he was reaching that limit fast!
