Chapter 5 - The Battle

"Rick, we should expedite the evacuation of the residents before my magic wears off. I sense a tremendous energy from Ramuda," Kinar said.

Rick agreed with what Kinar said, and with George's help, they began evacuating the residents to a safer location.

They weren't the only ones helping the residents; Karin also joined in. Meanwhile, Karen was already at the evacuation site, assisting injured individuals.

Suddenly, an energy explosion occurred around them, startling everyone present. The energy explosion originated from Ramuda.

Kinar was shocked to see Ramuda free from her magic, her posture slowly growing taller and larger than the typical sirens.

Rick rushed over to Kinar, who was still frozen, staring at the transformed Ramuda. He urged Kinar to take cover.

"No, Rick. I have to finish what I started," Kinar said.

"What?! Can't you see she's turned into a monster like this?"

"This is my fault! I have to take responsibility and stop this."

Rick was about to argue further, but Kinar had little time left. She pressed her thumb to Rick's forehead, causing Rick's eyes to glow for just one second.

"Go and protect the residents! Don't let them get hurt!" Kinar commanded.

Rick obeyed Kinar's instructions. What was happening was that Rick was now under the influence of Kinar's magic, commonly known as oboedite mihi. If Kinar applied this magic to someone, that person would obey Kinar's commands, no matter what. She was using it on Rick now.

"Where's Kinar?" Karen asked when she saw Rick return without her sister.

"She didn't want to come with me and told me to protect you all," Rick replied.

"What?! You left her behind? We don't need your protection; go and bring my sister here!" Karen insisted.

"Karen! She's under the influence of Kinar's magic. You know Kinar's magic is hard to break unless Kinar herself releases it. Stay here and help the injured sirens; I'll assist Kinar," Karin explained.

Reluctantly, Karen had no other choice but to allow Karin to help Kinar against Ramuda and her forces.

The Atlantis forces dared not engage the Dark Siren as their power far exceeded theirs, as they were still in training to become warriors.

On the other side, Ramuda had completely transformed into a more terrifying siren with a much larger stature than before. Kinar clenched her fists, and blue energy surrounded her arms. Without delay, she launched the first attack on Ramuda.

The battle raged on, but Kinar struggled as the other Dark Siren forces were also released from her magic and joined the fray.

Karin suddenly arrived with her twin swords to assist in eliminating the other Dark Siren forces. Meanwhile, Kinar refocused on fending off Ramuda's attacks and counterattacking.

For fifty long years, Kinar, Karin, and Karen had trained relentlessly to be useful in situations like this. True to their promise to Melody, they would always assist the residents and continue building a greater Underwater City, which had now relocated to Atlantis.

Their decades of training had not been in vain, and they had grown into strong individuals. Kinar had become Atlantis' most skilled siren mage, Karin the strongest siren warrior, and Karen a siren medic who used magic in her healing, unlike other sirens who relied solely on skills to tend to their patients.

Kinar was thrown quite far by Ramuda's powerful attack; it was the first time she had faced a siren of this magnitude. Previously, she had only trained and fought ordinary mischievous sirens.

"Sh*t!" Kinar cursed when she saw Ramuda looking toward her sister, who was battling the other Dark Siren forces.

Kinar rushed back to her feet and approached Karin when she saw Ramuda gathering black energy and launching it toward Karin.

"Clamamus," Kinar muttered. "KARIN, WATCH OUT!" she shouted.

With the newly chanted spell, even though she was far from Karin, her sister could hear Kinar's cry. Karin became aware of the incoming attack. However, she couldn't avoid it entirely, and her arm was struck, causing a painful burn.

Ramuda no longer cared about her own forces; she launched the attack on Karin, but in the end, she annihilated her own troops.

"Karin, are you okay?" Kinar asked.

"I'm fine; Karen can handle this. What should we do? Her strength is unmatched," Karin replied.

"I don't know. If only Clara were here, I'm sure Rachel would help her. But for now, please go from here! I'll handle this!" Kinar pleaded.

Karin had no choice but to stay by her sister's side. Kinar attempted to use her oboedite mihi magic on Karin. However, Karin immediately blocked it.

"Don't do that to me! I'll stay here with you."

Kinar felt Ramuda's attack coming toward them again. She pushed Karin and managed to dodge the attack.

"Karin, this is my last attempt. If it works, you have to leave this place," Kinar said.

Without waiting for her sister's response, she faced Ramuda once more.

"Vinculum!" she exclaimed, directing both of her hands toward Ramuda.

Suddenly, three blue circles appeared around her body, and three more circles formed below her, near her tail.

Kinar clenched her fists, causing the circles to shrink suddenly, binding Ramuda, who couldn't do anything.

"Your power is impressive, young one," Ramuda said while trying to break free from Kinar's bindings.

"Karin, go!" Kinar commanded.

Karin continuously refused to leave, so Kinar ordered Rick to forcibly take Karin away. She communicated with Rick telepathically, and he approached and carried Karin away.

"I admit your power is quite remarkable, but you're still no match for me," Ramuda said.

Ramuda then seemed to gather energy for a few seconds and released it, breaking free from Kinar's magic.

Kinar looked resigned, realizing she couldn't do anything more. Ramuda took advantage of the opportunity.

"Why do you seem so resigned? Do you want to die?" Ramuda asked.

"I fought you and pushed you to release this much power. Please! Just kill me and spare the others," Kinar replied.

Ramuda burst into laughter. "I didn't release much of my power just to fight an ant like you. I do prefer my true form like this rather than being small like you. But unfortunately, you've inconvenienced me a bit and made me annoyed. I will finish you now."

This time, Ramuda intensified her energy only to kill Kinar. Unfortunately, Kinar could only surrender because she could no longer fight back.

A powerful attack was launched at Kinar, but suddenly, the attack disappeared, and someone choked Ramuda and hurled her forcefully to the seabed.

Amidst fading vision obstructed by sand, Nereids approached Kinar.

"Get everyone out of here! I'll handle this trashy siren," Nereids ordered.
