That morning, Rika told Ryan that she wanted to meet Clara. However, Ryan couldn't grant his grandmother's request because he had no authority at all without John's permission, the leader of the Siren Hunters.
"Ryan, please, I begs you. She's not like the other sirens," Rika said.
"We don't know that, Grandma. She could be just like those who killed people on the coast," replied Ryan as he prepared to leave for work.
Rika and her grandson argued about Clara and the Dark Siren that had suddenly attacked the coast, causing many casualties.
"If Clara is like the other sirens, then why did she help people on the beach and kill other sirens?"
"That's because she was pretending. She already knew she would be captured. She did it to gain the trust of everyone, but not the Siren Hunters," Ryan replied.
"What? I met her fifty years ago, Ryan! Before you were born and even before your parents got married, I met her first. If you don't introduce me to Clara today, I won't consider you my grandson," Rika said with a hint of emotion.
Hearing that, Ryan, who was about to leave for work, stopped right in front of the exit. It was the first time his grandmother had said something like that.
Rika thought her grandson might change his mind after she said that, causing Ryan to pause and think for a moment. However, Ryan continued on his way, leaving with an annoyed expression.
"Ryan? What's wrong?" asked a woman wearing a round beach hat.
"What's wrong with him?" asked a bearded man standing next to the woman who noticed Ryan didn't answer the woman's question.
"I don't know, let's find out!"
The two couples entered Rika's house.
"Mom! We're home!" the woman greeted as they entered the house.
Rika, who was washing dishes, hurried to meet the familiar voices.
"Chelsea, Zack. I missed you both." Rika hugged them one by one.
"We missed you too, Mom. Sorry, we could only visit now. Zack just got his vacation," Chelsea said.
"It's okay. The most important thing is that I can meet my beloved daughter," Rika replied.
"Oh, by the way, did Ryan cause any trouble here? Chelsea asked him before he left, but he just ignored us," Zack inquired.
"Ah, yes, there's something I need to explain. Please, have a seat!"
Chelsea and Zack are Ryan's parents who have been living in the city. Ryan works as a manager at a company, and Chelsea is building a restaurant business there. They decided to entrust Ryan to Rika to keep her company since she now lives alone.
In the past, when Rika was about to give birth to Chelsea Clementine during Chelsea's pregnancy, her husband, Robert, was at work and rushed to the hospital to be with her. However, Robert had an accident that resulted in his death.
Rika had to endure the pain of childbirth without her husband by her side, hoping that Robert would be there to support her. Little did she know that her husband had an accident and fell into a ravine.
Not only did she lose her husband, but after successfully giving birth to her daughter, whom she named Chelsea Clementine, she gave birth to another child of the same gender. However, the second baby died shortly after birth.
On the other hand, Rika explained everything that had happened that had made Ryan so angry. Chelsea and Zack were shocked to hear their mother's account, which involved befriending sirens because, as far as they knew, sirens were evil creatures that could only harm humans. That's why there was a Siren Hunter community, not just a community, but also a job for some people, including Ryan.
"Sorry, Mom, but this time I agree with Ryan. You should stay away from that siren; she could be dangerous," Chelsea said.
"What? I thought you would support me after I revealed my biggest secret," Rika got up and left them both.
Seeing her mother like that, Chelsea felt uncomfortable and wanted to follow her. However, Zack stopped her by holding her hand.
"She needs some time alone, Honey. She said she's been friends with that siren for fifty years. It must be painful for her to see her friend captured by her own grandson," Zack explained.
"What? Are you blaming Ryan?" Chelsea asked.
"No, no, that's not what I meant. Just... give her some time."
Ryan arrived at his workplace, where he now had the task of guarding Clara along with his coworker, Ronald.
"Have you seen the siren's true form?" Ryan asked.
"No, I've never seen it; John forbade me," Ronald replied.
The two of them chatted while guarding a door secured with a padlock to pass the time.
"Why? Is the siren dangerous?"
"John said yes, she's dangerous. He got information that this siren is the queen of the other sirens, or perhaps we know her as Poseidon."
"Poseidon? I thought Poseidon was male," Ronald retorted.
"Yeah, I thought so too. Maybe the male one is Neptune, not Poseidon," Ryan replied.
"I don't know. Oh well, let's talk about something else. How about we talk about Sena, the girl you like?"
"What? No, we're not going to discuss that."
They both changed the topic of conversation while joking with each other. A few minutes passed, and a man approached them, asking Ronald to join him.
"Wasn't I invited?" Ryan asked.
"No, you weren't invited, so just stay here and wait," the man replied.
"Alright then. Ron, give me the key! I'm the one on guard; I should hold the key," Ryan said.
"What will you do if you hold the key, open the door, and let the siren go?" the man, whom he didn't recognize but was part of the Siren Hunter, retorted.
"Why? Is she going to fly and kick your ass?" Ryan replied.
The man seemed annoyed when Ryan responded with a joke. He was about to approach Ryan, but Ronald raised his hand in front of the man's chest as a sign to stop him.
"I apologize for my friend's recklessness," Ronald said, looking at the man. "It's alright, Ryan. I won't be long; I'll be back soon."
The two of them left Ryan alone. However, what Ronald had said wasn't true; Ryan actually waited alone for quite some time.
He started to wonder what Ronald was doing, so he quietly left and headed to the meeting room.
"That's why we need to execute the siren as soon as possible; she's put my son on the brink of death!" John exclaimed.
"But we don't know what kind of siren she is. I saw with my own eyes that she helped Ryan and his grandmother," Ronald politely argued.
"I don't care! I don't need your permission. It's just that Mike asked you to kill that siren. That's why I called you here!"
