Chapter 12 - The Past

No one knows what the future holds

We only know

If things aren't done right

The past could repeat itself

Seven hundred and eighteen years  earlier

After the small section of getting to know that I'm getting married to an average god, the guards declared the environment safe again. But my dad still said everyone was to come to the kingdom's arena cause he had something important to say. And no matter how hard I try. He doesn't tell me what's it's about. And i couldn't just stand the looks everyone that was present when I blurted out I was getting married to a god gave me. It was like I was missing out on something. And the worse part was. Even my friends deserted me. And finally the time for the meeting came. The whole kingdom sat in circles while the king's family and by that I mean, me, my mum, and my brother sat in the middle facing the congregation. Even Luca was present, but sat at the front row next to me.

"Let the briefing begin" someone announced and my dad sighed facing me before looking at the people.

"I believe we all know why were here"

Murmurs ran across the room, and my dad continued his speech. Why would they know and I don't.

"Tara" he called.

I stood up and faced him bowing a little. "Yes your highness"

"Today, you shall prove yourself"

Okay, he lost me there. Prove?

He nodded at one of the Kingsman who walked forward carrying a tray that was covered with a golden cloth. It was rectangular.

" Open the cloth Tara"

"Uhm okay." I looked at the tray then looked at my parents then at the people and they all seemed to be anticipating the moment I was going to unveil what was beneath the cloth.

As I stretched my hand to the tray. They all seemed to stretch their head forward. Okay this was getting creepy. I looked at my dad.

"Go ahead Tara" he said.

I inhaled and removed it and immediately I did. Wild gasps filled the room and the next words I heard was.

  "She removed it!!"

"She really is the one"

Ignored their whispers and stared at the thing I uncovered. A violin.

What's so important about a violin that got them so worked up.

"But why is it a violin" one of my dad's Kingsman asked.

"It's her weapon, that's what she needs"

"How's that so"

"Raven's own was a flute, so why can't her's be a violin." my dad announced.

"She can't do anything, how are we sure she can play it"

"They don't teach music in the school." Mr Harry our school's dance teacher shouted.

Who says I can't play a violin. Why do they think I run away to do when they look for me. I'll explain that later but what I needed to proof now was, I could play a violin. And I'm an expert at it.

I picked up the violin and the tray holder didn't seem to know cause they were all interested in arguing.

I picked up a lullaby. And the noise died down immediately. The soothing sound of the violin soon filled the air as everyone remained transfixed in the rhythm.

Then the most unbelievable thing happened. I didn't know where the butterflies where coming from but it came out of the violin each time I stroked. Then something or someone in my mind whispered something to me. 'show them your power over them, let them know who you are'

And right there and then I faced James. I didn't know how I sighted him in the crowd but he was my target. And then I said the words in my mind.

"Falcon" the butterflies flew in a straight line and circled James and when the butterflies moved away, James wasn't there anymore and what remained was a falcon.

The congregation scattered.

The congregation scattered.

very sick ending right.

Well. my dad didn't find it that way. And I wasn't finding it that way either after fifteen minutes.

James was still a falcon and I had no idea how to change him back. in this same fifteen minutes my dad made all the magicians, people with the abilities to transform things. But none of them had the power to change him so they came to a conclusion. The one who turned him, would be the one to turn him back.

I felt like a murderer but in a good way. James was now a falcon for real. You guys might be thinking about why I hated James.

James was one of the monsters I fought everyday of my life and he found it funny to chase only me. And he was always in falcon form. He would use the beak to pierce my skin at any opportunity. So I guess I helped him by transforming him into a real falcon.

My friends stared at me. Vicky's eyes were more darker than usual and I couldn't help but feel like they all wanted to stay clear of me.

Vicky, Sammie, Sadie and Amy all stared at Tara. They couldn't believe what she did. Tara, their powerless best friend turned James into a falcon and had no idea how to turn him back.

"Okay, I can't stop getting tempted to talk Tara" Amy called standing up. "How did you do it, I'm dying of curiosity. I mean my fingers can't take another bite." Amy waved her fingers.

Tara sighed, she was expecting the question. "I don't know guys, I just said it in my mind and it happened"

Vicky finally spoke up. "So you just said. Falcon. and James turned into a Falcon"

"Yes"

"Unbelievable!" She shouted. "That's too easy. Even transformers have to say some words before transforming something"

"Don't forget magicians" Sammie added.

"Yes, even magicians" Vicky put in.

"Okay guys look" I picked up the violin and they all shifted their seats backwards. "Are we really doing this?"

"Don't take this wrong, but get this. I'm not taking the risk" Vicky said.

"And neither are we" the others added.

Two guards barged into the room

"Your highness, the king seeks your presence in the training room" one of them said.

Oh no, not again.

I nodded and followed them but not without giving my friends another guilty look.
