Chapter 15 - Le Me Out

"Man is not what he thinks he is,

  He is what he hides."

Interviews

Interviewer: we've heard some of Raven Khar-hah-lac's... classmates say Raven's toast for this trial, why do you think that is?

Professor Cauline: (Nodding) I'm also worried, Raven has failed all classes that involve drawing and maths, but especially drawing.

Interviewer: but you don't look worried.

Professor cauline: (glaring at the interviewer) I am, you can't just see it.

Oh, I gasped, it looks perfect.

I could feel the voice smiling. Yes, it is.

It was a sketch of an ice dragon, with it's wing spread wide, making it look like it wanted to take off, the various ridges on the body of the dragon was so confident it looked like it was sketched with the body of the real thing standing before me. I frowned, it was to detailed to be from imagination alone.

This looks like the real thing. I said to the voice.

Well yes... isn't it supposed to? The voice didn't sound confident.

It is, but...it's to detailed to be just drawn from the memory of what I saw in the textbook alone.

So?

Yeah so, I didn't have anything to say again. I shrugged, as far as the voice drew it correctly.

Can I have my hand back now?

It didn't answer for a few seconds that I thought it didn't want to let me back in control.

Can you...can you give me control once in a while?

I was stunned, the voice was actually asking me politely about something.

It was low of me, but I decided to use this as a bargaining chip.

I'll let you take control of my body once and you'll tell me who you are and what you want with me.

The voice was so quiet I thought the answer was no, but then, I jerked as the voice screamed, for what reason, I didn't know.

You ungrateful slimy twit!

Mother said you'd be perfect!

Just give her time, she said!

She's your's and no one else's!

You're perfect for each other!

But no, you've locked my up, giving me no power or free rein!

Let me out! Let me out!

"Enough." I didn't realize I'd screamed out loud, and I didn't care. But at least the voice had stopped ranting.

If you're so suffocated, then leave me!

Seven hundred and eighteen years earlier.

Tara

"Father you called for me" I bowed a little.

"Yes I did, your training will be taking place In the woods" father said.

"What training"?

Dad sighed. "Come here." I went to him. "I know you have questions." He began.

Oh I did. I had many questions.

"But I can only say this."

Very terrible ending dad. I didn't say it though.

"The kingdom is in danger and not only from Asher, we need all the help we can get. And you're our only hope."

"How am I the only hope"?

"There are some things I'd rather like to remain hidden. I know the union between you and Luca came as a shock and then this. I knew you were going to be the next Chantara. That was why I was never worried about you having no powers, this is your destiny. And you have to accept it. For the sake of us all. For the sake of your kingdom."

Was that pep talk suppose to strengthen me up. If it was, then it's not working, because I'm feeling the opposite of strength.

"Luca is waiting for you, your training would begin immediately, I'll tell Max to take you there." With that said. My dad disappeared into a puff of mist, leaving alone.

Curse his power.

I sighed heading to the exit.

"Sup little sis." my brother appeared.

"Are you crazy?" I screamed when I got over the surprise. "I already told you to stop doing that."

Max smiled. "Dad told me to get you."

"Yeah, yeah let's go."

He held my hand and we disappeared.

We appeared in the forest.

"Bye." Max shouted as soon as he let go of my hand and disappeared.

Why does everyone keep disappearing on me.

"Welcome." Luca announced.

I looked at him unamused. "Are we doing this or what."

"Are you up to the task." he asked.

I hissed. "Do you think I was interested, just get to the point."

"Alright. Come to me."

"Is that the first lesson?"

"Yeah, come to me."

I looked at him weirdly. He was ten feet away from me. How hard would it be to walk to him.

I scoffed. He's the teacher though.

I took the first step and stopped.

Was there like a trap or something.

I looked up at him.

"Can't you walk faster than that."

Was he seriously manipulating me to walk faster?

I took the second step, then the third, fourth and fifth, and that was where the trouble began.

My legs refused to go further, I moved back and my legs got freed. I moved front and it got stuck. I raised my hands to touch the invisible wall that was blocking my path and I realized there was a barrier between me and Luca.

  "I can't get passed this."

Luca smiled. "You can, you just have to figure it out."

"Or I'd rather go back."I smirked and attempted to take a step back but my legs wouldn't move.

"Why can't I go back?"

"Figure it out." he smirked a reply.

How was I supposed to figure it out. I don't have any powers.

Oh right, I did. The cursed violin.

I brought it out from the bag. My dad made me carry it everywhere.

How is this supposed to break the barrier. How can I break something I can't see.

An I idea came into my mind. If it was invisible. Why don't I make it visible. Ok Violin don't fail me now.

What was I supposed to say.

I repeated what I did last time but this time with the words. "Visible"

This time, no butterflies came out. But birds. Transparent royal blue birds. They flew to the barrier. And formed a wall. The wall was circled around me. I guess they just showed me how the barrier was.

So now, I was I supposed to break through it. I looked at Luca but his expression remained indifferent.

What if I tried. "break".

I felt the barrier lift and the birds disappeared. Just to be sure. I took a step and nothing stopped me. Then I smiled walking towards Luca.

"How was that."

"I'm not impressed. It took you 15minutes to lift a barrier."

I frowned. "That barrier was made by you, and sorry to say this, but I'm new to this kinda stuff."

"Well I didn't say you were old. Three simple words could have lifted the barrier."

"Oh right, and what was that."

"Let-" he took a step forward and I took one back.

"Me-" another step forward and another step back.

"Through." he finished with a step and I took one back.

"Let me through, how would I have known it was that easy?"

"Then why don't you try it again. This time with more confidence."

It took me five seconds to understand what he meant. "Oh no you don't."

But it was to late. He didn't even flinch a muscle to lift a barrier.

"This is so unfair." I cried out.

"Life is not fair darling."

"Oh shut up." I held the violin back up and started a tune. "Let me through." I shouted in anger, but in my mind, mind you.

The barrier was lifted immediately. "Are you satisfied?"

"Not likely." he smirked. "Next lesson." Luca snapped his fingers and the ground seemed to rumble in response. Rock poles erupted from the ground each having at least fifteen feet space from each other. The I found myself on the highest one almost falling down. I looked down in horror to find out that I was more than twenty five feet off the floor.

"Are you crazy!" I shouted at Luca who was now floating mid air infront of me. He was smiling like it meant nothing.

"Get me down from here now!'

"What, don't tell me you're afraid of heights. I mean your dad personally told me. You climbed mountains because you wanted to run away so this shouldn't be a problem."

"I swear to the gods, if you don't get me down I'll jump down."

"Feel free to jump."

"Are you seriously going to let me jump."

"I'm not holding you or begging you not to."

Oh right, like he would care if I died.

I looked around me. The pole was circular and I was in the middle of it. If I took two steps I would fall off. He really wanted me dead.

"So what am I supposed to do?" I asked.

"Easy, Just get from one pole to the other, If you've been observing you would see that the poles are not the same height. Each one is lower than the other, so until you get to the last one. You can jump without possibly breaking your neck or any part of your body."

"And how am I supposed to do that?"

"Figure it out." with that said. He floated away to the ground. I watched him from above as he sat one a rocking chair I didn't see before and now held an orange juice--- I think--- why didn't I see the juice before. He lifted the juice to his mouth and sipped. Then he relaxed on the chair head up to watch me fall to my doom.

Now could you possibly blame me for hating him.
