Next Morning
Hazel got up at six to prepare for the day. She was the CEO of Coleman Industries, a company that focused on making technological devices, selling electronic parts and dabbing into other investments.
She chose a white suit as her outfit and got set to leave. Her house was quite big; a huge stylish villa, with a pool behind it. It had about twenty rooms and she shared her home with Andrew and Fred.
She got into the elevator and went down to the main living room, where she met Andrew and Fred watching TV. Yes, she was the only one with a real job apart from their dangerous death jobs.
"What are you guys watching?" She asked as she moved into the kitchen to prepare a quick cup of tea.
"Looks like Pears called the cops. Couldn't handle the deaths of a few guys." Fred said.
She came out and walked towards them. "Chairman of Express Enterprises?"
"Yeah. " Andrew affirmed. "Ava said they gathered blood samples. I think mine was among them."
"It doesn't matter though. It will have no match."
"Yeah. I know." He flexed his wounded arm in pain and Hazel watched him. "Has the doctor come?"
"He was here around 6:30. Treated the wound then stitched it up. Still hurts though."
"Well, next time try and avoid the bullets." Fred suggested mockingly and changed the channel.
Andrew gave him a piercing gaze, like he could kill him just by looking at him. He returned his focus to Hazel. "Where are you off to?"
She looked at him and chuckled. "Um, I have a job?"
"You say that like we don't have jobs."
She laughed again. "Cause you don't?" She answered and moved to the kitchen.
Andrew tilted his head and narrowed his eyes at her. He wasn't taking that. "We have jobs, you know? The one that actually gives us millions of dollars."
She returned with the cup in her hands. "Remind me who pays the bills here. "
"Because it's your home."
"You are always free to move out." She quickly gulped her tea and took one of her car keys. "And my job and this estate does bring millions of dollars. I lived here before I met you guys."
"She really is the boss." Fred said and laughed.
Hazel smiled. "See you jobless boys later." and she left the house before Andrew could say anything.
"I'm not going to let anyone get on my nerves. "
Fred tapped him on his shoulder. "You up for a game of basketball? I'm in the mood to take you down."
Andrew grinned. "Oh you are on. " And they both ran upstairs to the gaming room.
★. ★. ★.
On her arrival at Coleman Industries, Hazel's secretary rushed to go get her bag. "Good morning ma'am." She said hastily and shakily.
"Good morning Zoey. "
Zoey was still shaky as they walked into the building and took the elevator to the third floor, where Hazel's office was located.
"Are you okay, Zoey?"
Zoey felt her heartbeat increase. "Um, yes ma'am. I just have something I want to tell you."
"Is it about Harry? What? He doesn't want to use our equipment for his movie?"
"No it's not about that, ma'am."
"Then everything is fine, Zoey. " The elevator door opened and she walked out, going straight to her office. Zoey followed swiftly.
"I do think you need to know about it ma'am."
Hazel grabbed her key from her purse. "Look Zoey. I didn't have a good sleep last night and I can't deal with any bad news right now."
She shoved the key into the door, but it was already unlocked. She arched her brow and looked at Zoey. "Why is it open?"
"That's what I've been trying to tell you ma'am. I met some guy here. He said you know him and you gave him a key to your office."
"Did you think to call the cops, Zoey?" She walked into the office and saw a man seated in one of the chairs. "Hey, Hazel. " He said with a charming smile.
Hazel's mouth dropped open. "James?"
She ran to hug him and they kissed. "You are back! How are you back? And why are you back?"
He laughed. "Cause I was missing my girl. Good thing you came quick, cause I think your secretary was about to kill me. "
Hazel laughed and faced Zoey. "Zoey, this is my fiancé, James. I'm so sorry I wasn't listening to you. "
"That's okay ma'am." She was relaxed now that she was sure her boss knew the man. She took her leave as Hazel told her and shut the door.
Hazel kissed James again. "I'm so glad you are here. But really, why are you in town?"
They both took a seat on the couch in her office. "Well," James began. "I was actually missing you though. We haven't seen in like what? Eight years?"
Hazel giggled. "Four years, James. And we Facetime each other."
"That's not enough. " He placed his hand on her cheek and leaned in to kiss her. " I've been starving for you." He gave her a deep french kiss and she let it go on for a while before she gently pushed him back.
"What?" He asked. "Didn't you miss me?"
"I did, James. But that's not enough reason for you to fly all the way from Switzerland to come see me."
He smiled. "I own a hospital now. No longer an employee."
Hazel was surprised. "That is great! For how long?"
"Two years. And it's growing fast. So I have reliable people to leave the work for. Took a little break to come and see you."
Hazel stroked his chin and pecked him. "I'm proud of you. So what hotel did you put up in?"
"None. I'm staying with you." He said, excitedly.
Her eyes widened in shock. "With me?"
"Yeah. I'll be around for a while. So I don't want to waste money on hotel bills."
She didn't have any problem with him staying with her. The only issue was, the men living with her. "That's fine. I'm sure my cousins would be glad to have you around. " She said and smiled.
"Cousins? What cousins?"
"You know, after my father died, they moved in to stay with me."
He looked on suspiciously. "But you never told me you had cousins who moved in after your father died."
"Because I didn't think it was important. But now that you would be around, then you should expect it. "
He shrugged. "Yeah, whatever. When do you close for the day?"
"At six. Where are your things?"
"My car."
"Okay. So you're just going to sit here and wait till I'm done?" She moved to her office chair to sit and turned on her laptop.
"Nah. I'll go check out the town. Haven't been around since four years ago." He got up and went to peck Hazel. "See you later."
She waved him bye as he left the office, then focused on the notification that just popped up on her laptop.
'NEW JOB OFFER'.
Oh no. She thought. Not this period.
