Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Tail Creek Forest

The convincing of the staff members did not take that much time. Mr. Tul had another full on conversation with them the next day when Friday was coming. The staff didn't know what to say, they didn't think they had any say in this in the firsy place. The principal didn't care, Mr. Tul made sure to talk to him about it, it was a quick answer. It seemed like the chubby man wanted the Delinquents gone anyway.

That is why he made a deal with Mr. Tul. He could go on the field trip, but the whole Delinquent Cord had to come too. The teachers agreed, hoping it would make it so they didn't have to deal with "teaching" the students.

So when the day came for the field trip, the students were very hyper. Before boarding the bus, all of the students in the Cord lined up in the courtyard. The teacher's went to the entrance, making sure none of the students left. Still, the kids will be kids. They moved around and talked over one another, only a few pretended to pay attention. The staff still continued to explain, quickly since they wanted to get this over, just as much as the students did.

"Everyone must make sure they have their packed belongings in their backpack. The form that was sent out has all of the things you need to bring. We will not stop and wait for anyone, everything you brought today is what you will have to rely on for the remainder of the time." The teacher spoke loudly for some of the kids in the back, but it was obvious that it didn't really matter. The students just didn't care, talking over one another without a care.

"Move it fucker!" Damian pushed away everyone, making sure that him and his group got onto the bus first. Didn't really matter, they ended up going to the back of the bus.

Kim Seo was next to them, sitting in the far back while the others began harassing the kids sitting near them. The boy quietly observed the others come in on the bus until he noticed a familiar shade of hair. He sat up, waving his arm.

Vinh looked up from her book, looking at the boy in the back that called her over. She hid a smile that was threatening her lips. Walking over, a hand slung over her shoulder. "Let's all sit in the back shall we?" It was Loire.

The long haired girl didn't hide the annoyance in her face with this one. She noticed that Loire also had a hold on Cameron, the boy seemed to struggle out of her grip. She did look very strong, holding him in her arms with ease. Vinh didn't try to fight back, crossing the middle aisle of the bus until they ended up in the back.

"The fuck?- You assholes go away," Damian spoke up, standing up to face Loire.

The girl, with Cameron still in her arm, came forward to face him. "We can sit wherever the fuck we want!"

"Not here you can't, there's no room-"

"Move over," Kim Seo said from behind them. He was moving some of Damian's friends out of their seats, the tall boy then looked to his friends. "Come sit over here."

Vinh and Cameron were dragged to the back by Loire, grining with victory as she passed the boys who were shooed away by Kim Seo. The hyper girl pushed Cameron next to the window, she sat next to him to make sure he couldn't escape. Vinh sat next to Kim Seo, looking back down at her book.

"I didn't agree to this!" Cameron tried to get up, getting pushed back by Loire who didn't respond, she was busy talking to the tall boy.

"You know how big the Tail Creek Forest is? Massive! The largest one here!"

Kim Seo looked over Vinh, looking at Loire. "How big is it? I don't know- is it easy to run away from someone?"

Vinh looked up at him, her eyebrows twitched.

Loire smirked, "yep. Big, big!"

"You guys are idiots. The staff would never look away from you in a second, running away will get your ass caught and punished!" Cameron had butted in, giving up on trying to push out of Loire's figure.

The girl who trapped him, scowled at his words. "Doesn't mean we couldn't try it."

"Who is 'we?'" Cameron said with a bit of disgust in his face.

"That would be us Cam cam," it was Kim Seo who responded, gesturing to Vinh and himself. The quiet girl didn't deny it, continuing to read the book with sweat rolling down her back in the stuffy bus.

Cameron scoffed, looking back to the window. "Have fun getting caught."

"Oh you're coming too!" Loire responded with a grin.

The short boy shot his head over to them, but before he could say anything, the bus suddenly moved with a start. It lunged forward, sending students flying forward. Loire, Kim Seo, and even Vinh managed to catch themselves, unlike Cameron. The small boy smashed into the seat in front of him, falling to the floor while groaning.

Loire burst into a fit of laughter, hunching over her stomach. She turned red, her eyes becoming hot while Cameorn moaned in pain.

Even Kim Seo and Vinh couldn't hold back their smiles, they laughed to themselves silently but Cameron could just feel the joy they had when seeing him fall. He was tempted to stay on the ground, but had a small bit of pride hiding within him telling him to stand up. He got back to the seat, rubbing his nose while ignoring Loire.

She continued to holler like a hyena, causing attention to the back of the bus. The three didn't seem to mind, laughing their heads off until they left the school grounds. When it seemed like Loire got over it, she turned her attention to Kim Seo. The older boy was talking to Vinh, noticing a bit of uneasiness in her expression.

He could read her expression, the look in her face. "You're worried about the angel?"

Vinh looked at him, her eyes furrowed in deep thought. So that was the answer then, but it was clear she was hiding something. He felt like prying at it, he wanted to know how she was feeling to make her feel better. To at least do something. He didn't like feeling useless.

"I bet you don't like leaving her with those adults huh?" The older boy sighed, looking out of the window. "I wouldn't either, I bet they already let them lose to fuck with each other."

"Are you stressing me out on purpose?" The girl growled from next to him.

"Kh-" the boy held back a laugh, knowing that he wasn't trying to do it on purpose. "No- no sorry, but I do believe that they brought them as well."

"Brought who?" The girl tucked the hair behind her ear, eyeing the boy.

Kim Seo smiled, a bit of softness in his expression. "The kids. They may have brought them."

"How would you- what?"

"They were talking about it while busing everyone. Seeing how they didn't want to exclude the little sperms, minus the angel, they brought them along."

Vinh looked up at him, no expression on her face, she only looked on with a gaped mouth. "Your fucking with me."

"If I was, you would know for damn sure."

She bit her lip, hiding a smile that was about to make its way on her lips. The boy could see the slight smile, he wanted to tease her about it, instead he dropped it.

Instead, he turned to his other side to where Loire and Cameron were. The girl was busy harassing him and poking at his red cheek.

Cameron pushed her away before ignoring her completely, he was slumped with his eyes closed, trying to sleep. Loire got annoyed as he seemed to ignore her completely. She was craving attention, so when Damian looked over his seat at them with a mocking grin, she joined a conversation with him.

It went over the lines of Damian making fun of the two, only Loire bit back with hurtful words. Well, hurtful to Damian indeed. It pissed him off, causing the boy to growl and try to grab at the girl. She countered with a few shoves of her own until the teacher yelled back to them.

Mr. Tul didn't even turn his head to say it, causing the kids to ignore him. After he realized no one was gonna listen, he grumbled before shutting up.

It was about an hour as the kids fought and played around in the bus until it slowed to a stop. The teacher stood and announced for the students to exit. He was ignored, so he stood up and left as the kids trailed behind him.

Another bus soon stopped after them. In a much uniformal fashion, a teacher came out with a few of the young kids trailing. They all held hands, listening closely as the teacher gave instructions.

With the other kids in the bus in front, they babbled on while Mr. Tul gave instructions. He didn't try very hard, quietly telling rules and safety things while the kids began to disperse. He was about to give up, but the female teacher with the little kids patted his shoulder.

Mr. Tul looked, faced with a grin as she gave a smile to him. She turned to the group of kids, shouting loudly.

"Everyone listen up!"

The shout made the students jump, stopping as they turned to her. She made an audible 'ahem' sound before shouting instructions. "I am Ms. Kurk, a teacher for the younger students who are on the field trip as well. Everyone will stay close as we adventure through the forest on the trail. No one will leave, no one will leave out of either of our sights." She motioned to the guards that stayed behind the kids by the bus, "if you do anything like leaving alone, or hurting one another. You will be detained and sent to the bus for the remainder of the field trip. If you want to know, that will be for 5 hours ALONE on the bus."

The students made groaning sounds, saying curses and shuffling around with irritation. Ms. Kurk ignored them before continuing. "This trip is for you all to learn some social skills. The younger kids will be following you in groups, your job is to explain and show them the nature and living things in the forest. You will be graded on your actions towards these younger students, do not curse, yell, and say crude things to these children or else you will get a 0 on this."

It was silent, a few side conversations continued, but the message was sent to all the students. The little kids began to mingle with them, walking forward as they formed groups. The guards, about three of them, stayed in a circle around the groups as they made sure no one would run off. The teachers pulled some backpacks up, Ms. Kurk yelled some instructions as the groups were formed.

Vinh had disappeared for a few seconds, leaving the other three by the end of the group. Damian and the other boys were trying to form a group with Kim Seo, but Loire stepped between them. "No, he's with us assholes!

"Since fucking when?"

"Uh, today," she placed her hand on her hips. "He doesn't want to hang out with fuckers like you."

"Yeah right bitch," the boy rolled his eyes.

"Nah, she's right," Kim Seo responded, giving a smirk to his friends.

They looked in shock, trying to form words that were not being said. Damian began to speak up, coming closer with questions that Kim Seo ignored. The boy finally took the message, turning and motioning for his friend to follow him, they left the three just as Vinh had re-appeared.

But she wasn't alone. The small girl held her hand tightly, pushing into her leg with her face. Kim Seo had a smile on his face instantly, coming over to them. "Hey, you found the angel."

Vinh looked down at her and gave a smile. Marie felt at ease, looking up to Kim Seo she spoke with a small voice; "Stop it creep."

It was quiet while Loire stifled a laugh. Vinh shook her head, Kim Seo nodded to himself, hiding a smile, he realized it wasn't gonna be easy to win her over. He made a dramatic sigh, holding onto his heart with a tight hand. "Ouch! I just got hit in the heart." He gave the girl an eye, "who would have thought angels could be so rude?"

Marie pouted, giving him a glare that was just adorable.

Even as she turned her head to Vinh's leg, a small smile was on her lips.

Kim Seo gave a small win inside his head as the group began to move forward. Their group was formed by Loire, she made sure no one had left as the groups began to make. Well, mostly making such Cameron didn't leave. He tried a few times, but knew he couldn't leave even if he wanted to. These were the only people who would group with him, he would be alone if Loire didn't force him to stay.

Yet, for him, he wouldn't mind being alone with them.

The teachers led the way as the guards followed behind and on the sides of the group, Ms. Kurk spoke loudly as the kids entered past the fence where a large hanging sign hung above.

"Tail Creek Forest entrance"

Behind it was where the forest started, only one path in the middle of separated trees was there. The teacher began to lead them inside, informing the group to stay close. The forest was crowded with trees. On each look, there would be large oak trees mixed with bushes, vines, fallen logs, and maybe a few small ponds on the side followed by rocks.. the kids noticed that parts were open to walk through and off the path, but they stayed on it when the guards looked towards them. Mr Tul was the one to speak next, ordering the kids to begin doing their tasks as they made their way to a clearing.

The kids didn't realize they were heading to a clearing, but the delinquents decided to ignore the teacher. They acted as if they did what was told, but mostly talked with one another and made fun of the younger kids. The grownups could tell by the curses that the students didn't care, Mr. Tul was about to yell at the kids when Ms. Kurk stopped him.

"Wait until we make it to the clearing, let them get some of their energy gone. When we get to the place, they will do the assignment then."

"Do you have some hope in them or something?" Mr. Tul gave a confused look.

"No, but I learn from experience. These kids will be bored after walking around. Trust," she patted his shoulder then turned away. Mr. Tul didn't understand the meaning, nothing made sense to him but he decided to drop it.

The kids were getting rowdy, they began to push each other to the guards, hoping to slip past them. The guards ignored them, shoving back in case they tried to run past them.

The group looked around, Kim Seo couldn't help but roll his eyes at the idiots trying to run away NOW. He heard Loire give a snicker, she was also rolling her eyes at the others. She met eyes with Kim Seo, silently moving forward to try and be discreet. "When should we do it? Guards are everywhere."

"Obviously not right now. Maybe when a fight breaks out we can slip through."

"Oh- I know who should be in the fight. Can you let me choose?" She looked up, eyes shining.

The tall boy didn't even look at her, "sure, if you want to stay behind."

"What-?"

"If you start a fight, you will be in it. There is no way you can be discreet about anything." He shook his head, meeting the challenge in her eyes.

"I can be discreet!"

The boy looked to where Loire had Cameron interlocked in her arm. He squirmed, still fighting to break free while the girl didn't break a sweat while keeping him in place.

Loire gave a glance at the boy, understanding what Kim Seo was getting at. "Well if I let him go, he will run away!"

"I will not! Let me go!" The boy yelled from below them.

She glared at him, hiding an eye roll behind her eyes.

Kim Seo let his eyes roll to the back of his head in her place, shuffling over to where Vinh walked with Marie holding her hand. "You have no trust in him."

He walked off, leaving the two. Cameron ignored whatever interaction the two had, still fighting with all his might to break free. Loire on the other hand stood still, she actually took in the boy's words to her heart, what he said and what it meant. Feeling Cameron curse and stir made it even more obvious.
