Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Getting away

The clearing was large, it had a lot of space for the groups to get separated and mess around while the teachers watched over. The two of them talked amongst each other, deciding for Ms. Kurk to deal with the delinquents while the other teacher could watch over the younger students.

It was obvious to Mr. Tul what she was getting at, but he ignored it and decided to take the easy job for once. He understood why most of the other teachers who taught the Delinquent Cord had declined to come. It was his idea, but still, he was committed to go, making the other staff very confused. He just had to deal with it until the end, with Ms. Kurk there, she did make it better for him by putting authority over the other kids. It was easy for her since she never had to deal with these types of students.

They were troubled is all she knows, so she rolls with that on her mind. Mr. Tul knows a lot more, making it harder for him to send his status to the students. They just didn't care.

Trees were closed off in a mess around them. There was no easy way to get away, not only were the trees more crowded here, the guards had their eyes on everyone when the kids began to do their assignment.

The group stood by, it only seemed like Vinh was doing the assignment with Marie. She kneeled down to the group, pointing and telling Marie stuff about everything. The other three, Loire and Kim Seo began to try and find an opening to leave from. They spoke silently of a plan on how to get away, Loire still holding onto Cameron as she did so.

"Who do you think will make the perfect distraction?" Loire took a look around, fishing for someone to use as their distraction. Her eyes landed on Damian and their group, they weren't doing the assignment and just seemed to be ignoring the child that was assigned to their group.

Kim Seo followed her line of sight, catching the group of boys. He hummed lightly, sensing the same thoughts Loire was having. He wasn't too sure if he should do it or not, they were his friends. But they also got angry rather easily.

"It's the best bet."

"I know, that's why I'm looking at them." Loire responded with, pulling Cameron up as they walked over to Vinh and Marie. "Hey, we have a plan."

"Go do your plan then." Vinh didn't look up to where she was holding Marie. She ignored them, continuing to show Marie everything, she was the only one who seemed to be doing the assignment correctly.

"We need you to be ready when it happens. Pay attention." She hissed out, walking over to Kim Seo as she still dragged Cameron behind her. He gave up on fighting, getting pulled by his elbow wherever Loire went or wanted to go.

Vinh looked back at her, pulling Marie close to her chest. "What are you planning?"

"You know me," Loire shrugged when she was next to the taller boy. She winked, "I'm the best at planning~"

Vinh didn't answer, she did what the small girl told her to do. The group were close to one another, and it was Loire who started it. She was up to the group, a calm relaxed expression on her face.

They were all distracted, pointing and talking about something Loire didn't bother to lean into. When she saw another boy that wasn't exactly part of the group stroll by, she nodded to herself and moved forward. She was quiet, but the kick definitely wasn't.

She moved her leg back and smashed her foot in Damian's back, sending him flying forward. He caught himself, the friends holding onto him when they saw he was pushed forward. Kim Seo came forward, holding onto Damian just as Loire held onto the other boy who just so happened to stroll by.

The boy who was attacked swung his head around, pulling at Kim Seo's weak grip. "What the fuck!"

"Why did you kick him?" Loire spoke to the boy she held onto.

The innocent boy looked at the two, very confused. "I didn't do anything."

"We saw you kick him, don't play dumb." Kim Seo shook his head, having his hand loose on Damian's arm.

"You mother fucker!"

The boy moved forward, punching the innocent boy in the face. He fell back with a yelp, looking back up with a bloody nose and a glare in his expression. He bounced up off the group and tackled Damian, throwing him down along with himself. They began to tussle around, kicking, punching and fighting one another.

Loire and Kim Seo stepped back as Vinh called for the teachers. The guards traveled behind them, leaving an opening to the woods. Mr. Tul and Ms. Kurk came forward as well. Damian's friends had yelled and shouted at the fight, egging the two rowdy boys up to hit harder.

A few screams of the children mixed together with the excited holler coming from the delinquents that started to crowd around the fight. More guards soon had to join, they had to deal with pushing through and stopping the fight. The teachers couldn't do much, Mr. Tul had turned to try and get the kids back to their task while Ms. Kurk moved the smaller children away so they didn't have to witness the fight.

It was a perfect opportunity to make their escape. They did so, Loire dragging Cameron along as Kim Seo led the way out and past all the trees. They disappeared quickly, blending into the dense forest and off into an unknown direction, Kim Seo leading the way and dragging along his friends.

Vinh didn't bother to run since she held onto Marie, she did hear Cameron whining from behind her. He was saying something to Loire who just shushed him. They bickered rather loudly, they were also still pretty close to the center where they could get caught. Kim Seo yelled at them, telling them to shut up or run off on their own.

"Just let me go! I'll get you guys caught-"

"No, you're already coming." Loire shook her head, tugging the boy along as he resisted. He soon stopped, noticing how it didn't help with anything.

The boy moved past all the bushes and large trees, passing some small little rivers he hoped over. He didn't know where he was going, but it just felt good to be away from peering eyes and loud laughter. Though, Loire filled in that piece with her snickers.

It was a few minutes since they made their escape, Kim Seo had no idea where he was even going, where he was leading his group of friends. He just wanted to walk away and leave that place so quickly that he didn't even think. Vinh would be the one to have the thinking, the smart decisions. Which is why when she slowed down and ended up stopping, Kim Seo stopped as well to turn his head in her direction.

Loire along with Cameron stopped a foot behind them, Cameron pulling away and off to the other side of Loire. The girl didn't try to fight back, letting the boy do what he wanted to do.

She did keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't try and run off.

While that happened, Kim Seo turned and walked over to where Vinh and little Marie were. The messy girl set the child down, sitting down along with her to catch her breath. She was sweating, looking as if she had just run a mile. Kim Seo was tempted to tease her, but he caught himself, noting that she looked ready to pass out.

They were far enough, running for about a whole 2 minutes would lead them far. So he leaned down and took a seat next to her. Marie came over to the girl, leaning on her chest with her small fingers grabbing as her messy collar.

Loire fell to the floor just behind them, laughing silently while Cameron cursed her. He stood by a tree a bit farther from the group, leaning his back on it with his hands on his knees to catch his breath.

Kim Seo turned his eyes down to where Cameron fanned his chest, moving the sweater off from him to fan himself. He was also red, sweat pooling down and off his chin to the ground. The tall boy flinched, pulling his eyes away in a silent confusion on why he decided to stare for so long.

He finally looked to where Vinh sat next to him. She had moved down to rest her head on the grassy grounds, Marie sitting criss-cross between her long legs. She kept her eyes glued on the girl, a slight pout in her lips.

"You look about ready to die." Kim Seo laughed at her, shaking his head and huffing.

"We all are." Cameron groaned from his tree, covering the sun with his hand while he closed his eyes tightly in what seemed to be pain.

The tall boy rolled his eyes, looking over to Loire who brushed her hands on her knees that had dirt rubbed on her skin. When Kim Seo turned back down, he sucked in a breath, feeling more excited rather than tired, or.. what everyone is feeling.

It was weird, but he had felt this before. The excitement of running around, of doing what no one told him to do. He didn't like listening to other people, to be told what to do when he didn't like to do. He liked disobeying, to piss people off. And he wasn't alone. For once he had friends who were having the same excitement he was having, he hadn't had this feeling in a while.

Well, it's like years.

He shook off the memories, feeling no point in thinking of that, of all this. It was gone, his past life was gone.

"Ok!" Loire jumped from her spot, her tired expression completely gone. "What now?"

Her excitement pulled the groups around her. They turned, Vinh being the only one not even bothering to look up. Kim Seo gave a small laugh, being the only one besides Loire who wasn't having any difficulty to breathe. "What do you guys want to do?"

"I want to go back." Cameron cried from behind him, tripping before finding his feet.

Loire jumped up after him, pulling him down beside her onto the ground. He hit the hard rocks, yelling at the girl who put him in a chokehold. "Oh anything but that!" She whined, ignoring the boy's complaints. "I want to find a place to swim. What do you guys want to do?"

"That sounds fun, I'm down with that." Kim Seo nodded to her, turning to Vinh. "Your turn Vinh, what do you want to do?"

The tall girl sighed, taking a few small breaths before she found her voice. "Maybe.. we should go somewhere to.. well- relax.. somewhere kid friendly."

"Course," Loire laughed to herself, squeezing slightly on Cameron's neck.

"What about you angel?" Kim Seo turned to the child, giving a small smile. Without so much of a blink, Marie turned and ignored him. She stuffed her face in Vinh's chest just as Kim Seo nodded to himself and then her. "Alright, finding a river to swim in, it is."

"But- I didn't agree to this!" Cameron protested from under Loire who still held him. She turned to him, slowly letting him go and standing up to dust herself off. She looked over to Kim Seo, an excited expression on her face.

"Then let's get going!" She jumped to her feet, the rest soon following her with much less enthusiasm.

Kim Seo started it off by leading the way. He took the lead, not exactly knowing where they were going. After a few steps, he stopped to turn over to Vinh, the girl was walking beside Marie and had her by the hand.

"Where exactly would a river or something be?"

Vinh turned to him, a tired expression on her face. "You don't know how to look for water?"

"No?"

"Mm," Vinh turned away from him, looking around for a second before stopping and closing her eyes.

Loire and Cameron came over, Loire smirking at Kim Seo who watched his friend listen to the air. The shorter girl began to speak as Cameron groaned. "You've been leading the way, while not knowing where we are going?"

"Well, you guys followed me."

"Because you led the way," Loire bit back with a scoff.

"Let's not talk about that now alright?" Kim Seo ignored her before heading over to Vinh. "What are you doing?"

"Shut up."

Kim Seo sighed, turning away and looking down at Marie. He gave a small smile, squinting his eyes a bit so it seemed less intimidating. The small child growled, pouting her bottom lip and sticking her tongue out. She turned and continued to ignore him.

The tall boy nodded, turning away with a defeated expression.

"Found it." Vinh opened her eyes and turned in a certain expression. With Marie still held close to her, the tall girl had begun to lead the way. The group followed behind her, Cameron and Loire bickering the whole way.

The whole way they walked farther and farther away from where they came, getting more farther away from the group. It was silent besides the small sounds of birds chirping and the silent brush of the air flying in the wind. Soon, the sound of rushing water came to the teens' senses.

Loire rushed forward, dropping whatever she was doing and pushing through the brush. The trees hid the rushing water of a long and large river, Loire and the rest stopped and stared at the beautiful area they had uncovered.

It was open and wide. Only a small area with sand and rocks was under the little hill they stood on. The trees had stopped growing from there, only shrubs and rocks were down below by the rushing water, a perfect place to sit and chill while diving off the rock. The water was rather shallow at the beginning, as it went deeper, so did the water and the floor. It was rocky, then turning into sand at the very bottom.

Kim Seo turned over to Vinh, looking at her with a bit of admiration. "How did you find it?"

She looked over to him with a calm expression. "You can hear the water. It's really not that hard." She knelt down and picked up Marie before gently sliding down the hill.

Unlike Vinh, Loire took one large leap down onto the rocks. She huffed, quickly undressed so she could hop in the water. That left Cameron and Kim Seo at the top, the tall boy turned his eyes to the smaller boy, seeing how he looked uncomfortable with his body language both rigid and unsteady.

"Come on, let's go." Kim Seo, looked down before sliding onto the rocky bottoms. He looked back up expectantly, seeing how Cameron didn't follow him. "Come on?"

"I'm gonna head back.." The small boy turned, rubbing on his shoulders with unease. Kim Seo rolled his eyes, pulling the boy down next to him. The boy struggled, pulling away with Kim Seo only pulling back harder.

So, the boy gave up, letting the tall guy pull him forward and down onto the rocks. He tried to scoot away, seeing how Kim Seo kept an eye on him. He got fed up, growing and lashing out at the boy. "What!?"

"Oh nothing." He turned away, a small scoff escaping his lips. "You just seem a bit nervous. More nervous than normal."

"It doesn't concern you." He growled, turning away and farther down from the group of friends. Speaking of them, Loire had undressed to her undergarments and was now in the water splashing around and calling out for the rest to join her.

Vinh was behind her, her socks and shoes gone while she stood at the shallow ends of the water. She had Marie by her side, holding onto her and tossing around in the water. The small child laughed and giggled, holding tightly onto the tall girl's hands with her shoes and socks also gone on the rocky shore.

Kim Seo stood up after occasionally getting water tossed on him by the hyper girl who ran around. She was soaked, water running through her clothes and short hair. He undressed his shirt, rolling up his pants as high as they could go. Before reeling into the water, he turned to the boy who was farther away.

He huffed, jumping into the water along with Loire.

They played like little children, throwing water on eachother, jumping around and pulling at each other roughly. Kim Seo managed to get Vinh to join their battle, picking her up and throwing the girl over to Loire who burst into laughter.

Vinh shouted at the two, her whole body soaked wet since she was thrown in the deep end. She pushed Kim Seo, throwing hands with huffs and growls. She gave up when Marie seemed to be having a good time, she was giggling, rushing into the deep end of the water without a care.

Kim Seo came forward, picking her up before her little body could be submerged in the water. He laughed, giving a small smile with his arms under her legs to keep her up. "Careful angel, could have been bad."

She huffed, glaring at him. She turned, crossing her small arms with a small pout, Kim Seo shook his head, understanding the silent treatment. It was gonna be harder to win the angel over.

Vinh came forward, tossing her long black hair behind her and picking up Marie. The child held onto her, wiping the water off her cheeks with giggles. Vinh laughed along with her, Lorie coming over to hang over her shoulders with her own short hair stuck to her skin.

While the girls had fun, Kim Seo turned to the pair where he spotted Cameron crouched in on his knees. He looked tired and annoyed, it made Kim Seo think he needed some company. With a small huff, he left the water and joined him on the ground.

When the small boy noticed the tall delinquent make his way over he turned with his eyes rolling. Kim Seo ignored it, sitting down next to him, ruffling his hair that was soaked from the rough fighting he had had with Loire.

"Come on and join us, you're gonna be bored the whole time if not."

"I don't want to be part of your childish games." Cameron grumbled, turning his head away from the boy next to him.

He heard Kim Seo sigh, a bit of moving as he shifted himself closer to Cameron. "So you want to be bored the whole time huh? You're not gonna leave, so might as well join in on the fun."

"What part of this is fun?" Cameron huffed a bit louder while still avoiding the tall boy's eyes.

"Uh- swimming in an open river on a sunny day away from commanding adults?" Kim Seo sounded slightly annoyed, not understanding Cameron's strange discouragement. The overbearing of the adults at their school takes away all their freedom, and when Kim Seo gives it back to him, he shoves him away, refusing to comply.

It pissed him off, he didn't like the way this boy acted towards him.

He stood from the ground. Walking over back into the water silently. Cameron kept his head turned until he heard him come back with a different pair of steps following. Before he could turn, he was pulled up by his arms by two people. Loire and Kim Seo both dragged the smaller boy into the water. He yelled out and tried pulling back saying he didn't want to get wet.

They ignored him, Kim Seo letting his strength less apparent to let Loire fully shove Cameron into the water. He shouted when both him and Loire, who had wrapped her arms around his chest, dropped into the water.

With all his clothes on, Cameron was submerged in the water against his will.
