Kaito Chapter 56
The rasengan collided with the jonin's stomach, sending him crashing to the ground below and creating a deep crater from the impact. Another shadow clone appeared in front of the prone jonin and wrapped him up with chakra chains, securely capturing him.
Meanwhile, the original Kaito appeared on top of a nearby tree, illuminated by the soft light of the moon. In his arms, he held Hotaru in a princess carry. As she slowly regained consciousness from the sounds of battle, Hotaru weakly opened her eyes only to be met with bright blue eyes gazing down at her. "Glad you're okay, Hotaru-chan," Kaito said with a gentle smile.
...
Kaito stood atop a tree, the faint glow of the moon casting a soft light over the surrounding forest. He held Hotaru securely in his arms, her body limp and exhausted after being rescued from danger. She looked up at him with tear-filled eyes and threw her arms around his neck, crying into his shoulder. Kaito gently stroked her hair and tried to soothe her trembling form. "It's okay, Hotaru-chan," he whispered. "You're safe now." Her sobs quieted as she clung to him, still shaking from the fear that had overwhelmed her when she was knocked unconscious. Through her tears, she thanked Kaito for coming to her rescue.
As the clone finished checking on the unconscious Kumo jonin, carefully examined his body to make sure he was still alive. Satisfied with the results, it carefully lifted him up using a chakra chain. Suddenly, they sensed danger and tensed up.Kaito's clone swiftly pulled out a kunai from its pouch and deftly blocked an incoming barrage of shuriken and kunai aimed at the jonin.
Kaito knew immediately that it was the work of Root Anbu, and he had been using his Kagura's mind's eye ability to keep track of them. The tension thickened as they all stared in the direction of the incoming weapons. Sensing their presence, Kaito called out confidently, "I know you're there, come out." The Root ANBU emerged from the shadows and demanded, "You're sharp for a kid. Now hand over the Kumo shinobi
and come with us for further questioning."
Kaito cursed inwardly, knowing that this encounter would not end well. He had been hoping they would simply leave without getting involved. Gathering his courage, he asked them with a hint of defiance, "Why should we follow you?"
The Root Anbu leader sneered and replied, "That isn't a request, kid. It's an order. And whether you like it or not, you are coming with us."
Kaito narrowed his eyes, his mind racing as he tried to think of a way out of this dangerous situation. Desperately, he focused his senses to see if he could detect the presence of Shikaku, Hiashi or Kakashi, But to his dismay, he couldn't sense any of them nearby.
Frustrated and feeling trapped, Kaito thought to himself, "I can't sense them...they must be out of my sensory range. I need to come up with another plan before it's too late."
Kaito's sharp eyes met with those of his clone, and they shared a nod, both on the same page. Turning to the Root anbu, Kaito declared, "Alright, we will follow you."
The anbu nodded in return before pushing forth their demand, "Hand over the Kumo jonin first." Kaito understood their concern and nodded once more before cautiously stepping towards them, holding Hotaru in his arms as she was still weak from the drug.
when they neared The Root anbu gave a satisfied nod and gestured for them to follow. Suddenly, without warning, the real Kaito with Hotaru in tow and the clone carrying the unconscious kumo jonin body disappeared using the body flicker technique.
As the remaining clones threw a dozen shuriken and kunai towards the Root anbu, who were caught off guard by the sudden attack, chaos erupted. The Root anbu swiftly began deflecting the projectiles but soon realized that each one was multiplying into hundreds, and worse yet, each had paper bombs attached to them. One of Kaito's shadow clones activated the explosive tags just as its physical form vanished into thin air with body flicker. Curses escaped from the lips of the Root anbu as they frantically tried to evade the explosion caused by the exploding kunai.
...
As he ran through the dense forest, Shikaku's mind raced with possible scenarios, desperately hoping to make it in time to save his students. The trees blurred past him as he pushed himself to go faster, his heart pounding in his chest. Suddenly, he felt a presence approaching from both his left and right sides.
With swift reflexes, a man leaped out from his left side, falling in step gracefully next to him. It was Hiashi, the head of the Hyuga clan. Shikaku nodded at him and asked urgently, "Can you see them?" Hiashi shook his head regretfully and replied, "My range is only 1 km." The two continued their sprint towards their destination, determination burning in their hearts as they risked everything to save those who were dear to them.
As they ran, another figure suddenly burst through the right side of Shikaku, seamlessly falling into step with him and Hiashi. It was Kakashi Hatake, also known as the Copy Ninja and student of the 4th Hokage. He nodded at them both before glancing around with his blazing Sharingan eye.
"Have you informed the Hokage?" he asked.
Shikaku nodded in response. "I've already sent a clone to inform the Hokage and assign more ANBU to keep an eye on the Kumo envoy."
Before they could continue their conversation, a series of explosions echoed through the forest, shaking the ground beneath them. The source seemed to be around 5 kilometers away from their current location.
"That's Kaito's explosive shadow clone shuriken," Kakashi stated, narrowing his eyes. Shikaku mirrored his expression. "Troublesome," he muttered as they continued forward.
Hiashi looked pale and anxious, his thoughts surely consumed by the safety of his daughter. "Hurry, we have to get there fast," he urged.
Without hesitation, Kakashi increased his speed and began to create distance between himself and Shikaku and Hiashi.
...
Kaito, carrying Hotaru on his back in a piggyback position, raced through the forest towards the village. Kaito's clone was close behind, holding the bound Kumo Jonin and leaping through the trees with impressive agility. They were putting as much distance between themselves and the recent explosion as possible. Kaito had used it as a diversion to escape from the root anbu.
As they ran, Kaito's senses suddenly alerted him to danger. Without hesitation, he and his clone leapt to the side with impressive speed, narrowly avoiding a sword strike that would have surely been fatal. With expert precision, Kaito continued blocking the sword strike while simultaneously creating two more shadow clones mid-air without any hand signs.
One of the shadow clones swiftly kicked at one of the Root Anbu members, who deftly evaded the attack but left an opening for Kaito to jump back and gain some distance between them. As he landed, Kaito's eyes narrowed as he assessed their opponents. Despite some burns on their bodies, they seemed unfazed and ready for battle.
The leader of the Root Anbu spoke up, addressing Kaito. "Nice trick, kid. But now playtime is over."
One of his comrades chimed in, "Why are we still talking, Captain? We should just knock them out and be done with it.".
As the fierce battle raged on, Kaito struggled to keep up with his opponents. His muscles burned as he dodged and weaved, trying to land a hit on the root anbu. just then, the shadow clone holding the unconscious kumo jonin disappeared in a puff of smoke as it was stab in its abdomen, dropping a Kumo Jonin in the process. and the root anbu proceded to stab the kumo jonin with his sword
meanwhile with the original kaito Before he could even react, Kaito himself was pierced through the shoulder by an enemy's blade and pined to a tree.
Kaito watched as another Root Anbu scooped up the unconscious Hotaru and taunted him. "Don't worry kid," the Anbu sneered, "it'll be painless."
But just as all seemed lost, a smirk spread across Kaito's face. "I'm not worried," he retorted confidently.
And then, in a sudden turn of events, both the Kumo Jonin and Hotaru disappeared in puffs of smoke. The sound of chirping birds filled the air and Kaito grinned slyly. "I was stalling for them," he revealed.
The leader of the Root Anbu who had pinned Kaito to a tree realized too late that they had been outsmarted. He turned to face Kaito with rage in his eyes, but before he could make a move, Kakashi appeared behind him with crackling lightning surrounding his hand. In one swift motion, Kakashi's hand pierced through the Root Anbu's chest, ending his life instantly.
As the other two Root Anbu were taken aback, they were quickly immobilized before they could react. Shadows slithered towards their necks, constricting them until they could no longer breathe. Shikaku, had used his "Kubishibari no Jutsu" (Shadow Strangle Jutsu) to take out the enemy. He crouched in a defensive posture, holding a hand sign as he surveyed the scene. Beside him lay a bound Kumo jonin, their captive from earlier.
Suddenly, the enemy activated their Anbu suicide seals and began to melt their features. Hiashi, arrived at the field with Hotaru in his arms.
Meanwhile, Kaito let out a sigh as he winced in pain while removing a blade lodged in his shoulder. He slumped to the ground, his hand glowing green as he attempted to heal himself. Hotaru rushed out from her father's arms, still weak and unsteady, asking if he was alright. Kaito flashed her a reassuring smile and nodded.
Hiashi walked over to one of the dead bodies and examined it closely. "Their facial features and chakra coils have been destroyed," he stated grimly.
Shikaku clicked his tongue in annoyance as he looked over at the dead bodies. "Troublesome... typical Anbu protocol," he grumbled before standing up and taking hold of the unconscious Kumo jonin. He moved towards his students.
Kakashi, with a sharp gaze, turned to face Kaito after thoroughly inspecting the Root ANBU. "Are you alright?" he asked, a hint of concern in his tone.
Kaito smiled and nodded confidently. "Yes, I'm fine," he replied, introducing Kakashi to his teammate Hotaru. "This is Kakashi Hatake, one of my Dad's former students." He gestured towards the silver-haired ninja before turning to Hotaru. "And this is my team mate, Hotaru Hyuga."
Hotaru greeted Kakashi with a respectful bow of her head, while Kakashi simply nodded in acknowledgement.
As they were talking, Shikaku and Hiashi approached them. Shikaku, ever the responsible leader, spoke up first. "We should head back and report," he said then looked to Kaito. "Can you walk?"
Kaito winced as he attempted to stand up, but quickly laughed it off and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I guess I used too much chakra," he admitted.
Shikaku shook his head with a sigh. "Troublesome," he muttered under his breath.
Kakashi help Kaito and carried Kaito on their journey back.
With eager anticipation, they set off towards the village, Kaito slung over Kakashi's back and Hotaru cradled in Hiashi's arms. Shikaku carried the unconscious Kumo jonin, their small group making their way through the dense forest. After a few minutes of travel, they reached the towering gates of the village, where a crowd of people stood waiting for them. The Third Hokage stood tall with his ANBU guard by his side, and among them stood Kushina with kaito shadow clone holding little Naruto.
As soon as she spotted them, Kushina rushed towards Kaito and engulfed him in a tight hug, relief flooding her features. "Are you okay, Kaito-kun? You had me so worried," she exclaimed, checking him over for any injuries. She gasped when she noticed his injured shoulder and exclaimed, "Oh no, are you hurt? We should take you to the hospital right away!"
Kaito let out a laugh while scratching the back of his head. "I'm fine, Mom. It's all healed now, ya know" he reassured her with a smile.
With a heavy sigh, Kushina's attention shifted to Hotaru. She embraced her tightly, concern etched on her face as she asked if she was alright. "Are you okay, Hotaru-chan?" she questioned, scanning her for any signs of injury.
Hotaru returned the smile, grateful for Kaito's quick thinking and protection. "I'm fine, Kushina-sama. Thanks to Kaito-kun," she replied with a nod.
Just then, Hiruzen approached and cleared his throat politely. "Hem hem, sorry to interrupt but I must know what happened," he said, gesturing towards the Kumo jounin, looking at kaito with a serious expresion.
Kaito took a deep breath and proceeded to explain in detail what had occurred, including the actions of the 'Root Anbu' in front of everyone. He also recounted the fight between himself and the Kumo jounin, as well as the confrontation he had with the 'Root Anbu'. The whole time he spoke.
As Kaito and Hotaru recounted their part of the story, Kushina held Naruto close to her and stood beside Kakashi and Hiashi. Her eyes twinkled with amusement as she listened. couldn't help but let out a small giggle at the events that had just unfolded.
Curiosity piqued, Kakashi turned to Kushina and asked, "Umm... Lady Kushina, why are you laughing?"
With a wide grin, Kushina turned to him and replied, "It seems history is repeating itself."
Hiashi, standing next to Kushina, furrowed his brows in confusion. "What do you mean by history is repeating itself?" he asked.
Kakashi also looked puzzled, glancing at Kushina for an explanation.
Her smile only grew wider as she explained, "This whole incident reminds me of how I fell in love with Minato. He rescued me from a group of Kumogakure shinobi when we were just genin during the Second Shinobi War."
She then turned to Hiashi and added with a playful wink, "And it seems that Hotaru-chan has fallen for my son Kaito." She gestured towards Hotaru, whose face was now adorned with a deep blush as she stole glances at Kaito.
As he observed this interaction between his daughter and Kaito, Hiashi narrowed his eyes and gave Kaito a stern glare. But eventually, he sighed and let go of his anger, knowing that love cannot be controlled or forced.
