Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Determination

In the morning, Freya woke up with a heavy pain in her back, it felt like her bones had been scrunched up together. She knew that would happen, but she still had to think about herself. It didn't matter though, she was going to tell her coworkers anyway... and maybe leave the part about her back out (she was hopelessly proud).

Freya really wanted to stay a little longer in bed, but it was time to get up and do something. She got dressed up in her exercise outfit and went into the backyard.

The backyard was her training place, just going there brought memories, some pleasant, others less so. That was the place where she learned some cool tricks after finding out about her powers. Only later, she started going to the agency for training, so it had been a while since she used the backyard for training. The agency was just better suited for her quick anger and needs.

Freya only decided to train because she could focus more when fighting, sometimes taking her mind of something helped her find an answer to it. That's why it was going to help her think about what happened to the magician and the guy that randomly attacked her, and she could easily let out her anger for not catching the villain by hitting something lifeless.

She started fighting a dummy, in a hurricane of fists, without using her power. 'There were many people in the park and pretty much every guest stayed to watch sir Hibiki's magic show. Only one of them attacked me and the others ran away. Even if I know something about that guy, I can't just assume it was him. If it was that guy, there is the possibility of him working with someone, either in the park or from the outside. The assistant couldn't have done it, unless he placed something in the box before it was brought on stage.' Freya was still confused. There were many possibilities, and all of them were good. If she wanted to get to the bottom of that case, she needed to find out who the guests were and who worked there. After finding out, she would need to investigate their backgrounds and maybe see some of them personally.

"Gaaah! Why does this have to be so hard? It should be my vacation, not a new mission. I didn't tell Mr. Evans that I want to get a vacation just so I can work behind his back!" Freya punched the dummy so hard that it flew back. Nothing broke fortunately, but right after the dummy hit the ground, Freya's phone started ringing. She went to pick it up.

'Don't tell me the Overseer is already missing me!' She thought angrily, but it wasn't Mr. Hunter. If It wasn't him, it was an unknown number that was calling her. She answered the phone. "Hey! Who is this and how can I help you?" She said in a hesitant, rather dry voice. She wasn't sure if answering was the best thing to do. She had a lot of scammers do that before.

The voice who answered back wasn't what she expected. "Hi! I'm sorry for bothering you. I got the phone number from the police. I'm really sorry to get it without asking for permission or that. I just really needed to talk with you. Please!" The man said hurrying and stumbling over his own words. The caller was Mr. Hibiki's assistant. Freya never expected to get a call from him. Since he called, she thought that it might be important.

"Alright, what's wrong? Are you fine?" Freya didn't want to sound worried, but she couldn't help it. The mental state of the assistant was bad when she left. To calm down, she went to pick up the dummy. It wouldn't be nice to leave it there.

"I'm not that good. I think I can remember something from the party, about that man you fought with, but it's not much." The assistant's voice was shaking, on the verge of tears and he was almost whispering on the phone.

"I see. Tell me everything you know and I'll see what I can do." Freya promised him that she was going to find what happened to the poor magician no matter what, so she was going to keep it.

"W-well the costume that was covering him was in a box behind the stage, I saw it with my own eyes! I can't remember clearly who's person that the box belonged to, but that crate was brought there for the official shows, not by the guests!" Said the assistant after struggling to talk for a while.

"Thank you for telling me sir, that narrows down the search. I'll make sure to find out where Mr.Hibiki disappeared and who did it so we can get revenge!" She added the ladst part a little bit too tensely. She was never going to break that promise even if it took years to resolve it. "But, Sir, are you going to be alright? Should I send someone to keep you company or do you have someone else to take care of you?''

"You don't have to worry about that miss! I can take care of myself for now. I do have some people that can keep me company, so don't worry about that. Thank you a lot for taking care of my problem. I'm sure this is a bother, but I hope you can get him back!" He's voice because just a bit calmer, but still agitated.

"No worries! Take care of yourself then and stay safe!" Freya ended the call, she was glad she had decided to answer. Freya was carrying the dummy back to its original spot. She sighed and went back inside the house, somehow there were too many memories, too many of them sad. The call just made her wish to train shatter.

Freya got really bored. She even thought about going to work sooner this time. Not only did she want to gossip a little, Freya also wanted to ask the Overseer for a bit of help with the investigation she was going through because of the party. She didn't want to postpone the new mission either. Working on two was going to be difficult.

The women looked at the date. Four days had almost passed from her vacation. Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad time to go to Mr. Hunter and tell him what happened. She was even going to accept his mission offer, unless someone else took that spot.

She ended up deciding to leave her clean house and visit the office she'd been working in for so long. It was time to make that decision already! If this kept going much longer, she would never agree to the mission. You can only live once after all, a little bit of adventure would be excellent for her boring life, especially if she could travel as part of the new assignment, one of the things she loved to do when she could afford it. Today was the time for Freya to meet her special boss, Mr. Evans and tell him that she was going to accept the thrilling adventure he suggested her.
