"Don't you love me? Why do you need him when I'm here for you?"
She was using her powers on him.
Some how Aiden felt guilty about not loving her the way he was supposed to... why would he feel this way? And what was that about loving her? The last time he checked he was head over hills for Kai not her,
Aiden felt his head throb at the thought of Kai and he winced, averting his gaze from hers.
"Look at me..." she pulled his head down so he could look back at her and when they locked eyes once again, she creased her brow in feigned sorrow. Right now she was trying her possible best to remain patient... why was he resisting this so much? It didn't usually take this long to have someone respond to her charms,
"Please tell me you love me." She coaxed and the pain in Aiden's head increased. He wanted to turn away but she held his face in place with her palms making sure he doesn't look away. The more he stared into those orbs, the more his memories were washing away and being replaced by the false thought of being deeply in love with Lilith. His consciousness tried to keep his thoughts intact which made his head throb painfully,
"I..."
Aiden was about to give in when he suddenly felt a pair of soft cold hands shield his eyes, preventing him from staring into Lilith's eyes. The touch felt familiar... he knew these cold hands all too well.
"What do you think you're doing Lilith?" Kai questioned with a deep scowl on his face. Her eyes widened with shock when kai suddenly came out of nowhere.
His bright blue eyes were narrowed and filled with hate as he stared at her which caused the girl to flinch. Kai had never stared at her with such hateful eyes before and now that he did, it hurt her. This wasn't what she wanted...
Kai smacked her hands off Aiden's face and pulled him away from her touch still with his hand over his eyes. His intuition was right... he should have never left Aiden to come out alone with Lilith,
"I told you not to use your powers on him and you gave me your word. So what the hell were you thinking? That he'd let you stay if you did that?" He scolded on top of his voice not minding the passer-by's.
"No Kai, that's not why I'm doing this! I don't care about him, you're the only one I care about. You don't know what you're doing... he's just keeping you captive and I just wanted to help."
"Please don't bring that up right now. We're done with that conversation. I thought you understood that? Vance and Vlad accepted him so why can't you?!"
"Because I like you Kai, I've liked you since when we were little and I can't stand seeing you with another person."
Kai didn't know what to say when she revealed this but it didn't make a difference to him.
Seeing him silent, Lilith decided to continue, hoping to get through to him.
"I've liked you for so long and I wanted you to be my mate but then he came along and just steals you away from me -"
Was that what was going on in her head each time she looked at him? How to make him her mate? Was he the only one who just wanted to be friends? Kai clenched his fists at the thought of this betrayal.
"I'm not an item that someone can steal. I like Aiden and nothing is going to change that. I thought you were my best friend but I guess I was wrong."
"What? Kai, I am your best friend-"
"- If you are my best friend then you'll be happy for me not try to take my happiness away!" He heaved a sigh and slid his hand away from Aidens eyes and pulled him into his embrace so his head rested on his shoulder, "... Go back home Lilith and don't come looking for me again."
"Kai, I'm sorry I just wanted him to let you go..." Kai gritted his teeth, fed up from hearing the same excuse over again,
"Did I tell you I'm being held against my will?"
"Kai!"
"You can tell mother I chose to stay when you get back. And she should not send anyone else to look for me." He didn't have the strength to deal with another person if she did that.
Lilith had nothing more to say that could convince Kai... it was true that she did give her word not to charm Aiden but she couldn't think of any other way... now her decision caused her to lose him before she even had the chance to move further in their relationship.
Kai took a deep breath to calm his nerves before he turned his attention to Aiden who rested his head on the merman's shoulder,
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just a little headache." He smiled. Luckily Kai had come to his aid at the right time when he was still struggling to remain in his right mind. Either way, it was all still worth it because it went according to what he had planned.
Kai bit his bottom lips feeling his heart ache when Aiden smiled and he smacked him on the shoulder,
"I told you not to speak with her in private." Aiden laughed at the cute reaction and allowed himself to be pulled by the arm by Kai. "Come on, let's go home."
Kai forgot all about his sprained ankle and stepped forward with all his weight on it. The sudden pain that spread through his body caused him to stumble but Aiden was quick to hold onto his waist to prevent him from falling,
"Kai," Lilith called with worry but Kai just shot her a glare, warning her not to get close. Aiden who stood behind him saw this and couldn't help but smile.
It was obvious that Lilith was now out of the picture since Kai wasn't willing to give her a second chance.
Feeling quite satisfied with himself, Aiden lifted Kai off his feet in a princess carry. This surprised both Kai and the female nurses who passed by. Their faces flushed and they couldn't help but ogle at the open display of affection,
"Aiden what are you doing? People are staring at us."
"Then let them look and see how much I love you." He whispered with a flirty smirk which caused the merman to flush.
Aiden felt glad... everything felt normal once again. Martha and Lilith were no longer going to be a nuisance and kais brothers weren't intruding anymore... his father already knew about their relationship so there was no need to worry about him anymore... nothing could ruin this,
"We were on our way home." Aiden glanced at Lilith with a satisfied smile on his face as if to rub it in that she had lost, before he exited the hospital with Kai in his arms.
They got back to the car and Aiden gently sat the merman down in the front seat before he got in the driver's seat and turned the car on.
"Aiden, do you know anyone named Rachel?" Kai asked with his head hung low. The young master halted for a split second and stared at the merman blankly before he finally asked,
"Why?"
"Uhhm... those bad guys kept saying she was the one who hired them to take me and... I don't know anyone by that name. I thought you knew."
Quite smart, Aiden thought and just smiled to himself.
"Me neither," he shrugged and ruffled Kai's hair, "I don't know anyone by that name. It's all in the past so don't think about stuffs like that. You're safe with me now okay?"
Kai nodded and peeked at Aiden from under his lids. Aiden saw this and tilted his head,
"What, got something more to say?" he caressed the others cheek and Kai nodded,
"Can you kiss me." Aiden paused,
Well that was unexpected... but what else could he do than to obey. He leaned over to where Kai sat and took his soft lips in his relishing the sweet taste. This was how things were meant to be... perfect.
