Chapter 9 - Tottori [2] - Yae Mitsuo

I grinned mischievously at the humanoid, lifting my left hand and jokingly saying, "Guess it's time I tried to cast a spell, huh?"

((Normally, a spell cast without an affinity would only produce 5% of its intended effect. However, due to Kurai's immortality and unlimited magical energy, he is able to bypass this limitation.))

I shut my eyes tightly and took a deep breath, picturing the flames engulfing my hands in my mind.

I felt a sense of calmness as unnecessary thoughts left my mind. I need to envision myself as having complete authority over the flame, as if I am its ruler. Soon enough I felt a surge of warmth flooding my mind which I then allowed to move throughout my body.

I open my eyes when a ball of flames suddenly materialized in my hands; I exclaimed, "I did it!" Realizing that I had to put a large amount of mana into it, I added, "Now I have to put in a significant amount of mana into it."

*FUME*

I gradually poured large quantities of mana into the blazing fire. As I did so, it kept increasing in size and intensity, becoming extraordinarily large.

The expression on the humanoid's face changed rapidly, their eyes and mouth widening in surprise.

The air was incredibly hot, causing the grass and a nearby tree to start to melt and the increasing heat made the temperatures soar.

The humanoid realized that if he were to take the burning fire head on, he would perish instantly, so he chose the only viable option.

*ZOOM*

The humanoid flew away quickly, its whole body shaking with the force of its acceleration.

The fireball had become so large that it was unable to absorb any more mana.

Thanks to my seemingly limitless magical power, I was not constrained in any way, yet the incantation itself had a definite limit.

I shouted, "Where are you headed off to?" as the humanoid flew away.

I poisitoned my arms directly towards the humanoid.

I threw the blazing fireball at the humanoid. Its scorching heat boiled the buildings beneath as it flew by at tremendous speeds.

*BOOM*

Despite the humanoid's attempt to flee, the fireball pursued at an even faster pace and caused a huge explosion when it impacted.

The skies were suddenly filled with a vast plume of fire, replacing the once sunny atmosphere. The blast spread throughout the Kingdom as if a nuclear bomb had been detonated.

Fortunately, it impacted in the sky, so not much destruction occurred on the ground.

Soon after the fire died down and the humanoid had vanished, it had been completely wiped out of existence by a lowest tier fireball spell.

As a thick blanket of smoke filled the air, hundreds of birds dropped from the sky. They had been killed by the blast.

I stood there amazed at my own capabilities.

"Is that the power of a god?"

I heard the doctor coming up to my side, shielding his eyes from the intense brightness caused by the explosion.

As he approached me, I spun around and firmly grasped his shirt, demanding in a controlled yet stern voice, "Listen old fuck, what the hell is going on?"

He threw his hands up in the air in a gesture of surrender, his face pale with fear. "Please don't hurt me!" he pleaded, glancing furtively to the left in case I might attack.

I glared at him as I moved from grabbing his shirt to gripping his throat, "If you tell me what happened, I'll consider not punishing you harshly."

He shouted, "Alright, alright!", a bead of sweat ran down his face.

He looked at me and said, "Recently, all the people who drank the potions I concocted with your blood started experiencing a violent end—exploding from the inside out, or transforming into mutated humanoids!"

I looked down at the floor and thought, "That must explain why he hadn't been around to take my blood sample for awhile. I then turned my gaze back to him and shouted, "And where did Elaine go?!"

He screamed in terror and shouted, "You just killed her! That humanoid you just killed was Elaine!"

"What?"

He took a deep breath before speaking, "Typically, it is safest to consume one to three potions at a time; any more could result in life-threatening consequences. In simpler terms, even a small dose of immortality was too much for a mortal to manage, often resulting in death or mutation."

"Despite the odds, Elaine managed to consume as many potions as she desired. With every passing day, she became stronger and more adept at using her magical abilities. She could recover from any injury, but even she had her limits."

"A few days before the emergence of the humanoid mutations and deaths, she started feeling ill and parts of her body began to take on a purple hue, while her nails transformed into claws."

"Before the day everyone changed into humanoids, she had already transformed into one herself. She was the most powerful of them all and was the cause of why the Kingdom was destroyed and why the other humanoids were slain. Even the neighboring Kingdom of LionHeart was fearful of her."

I let go of the doctor and laughed, saying, "So she ended up meeting an awful demise and even becoming a monster? That's pretty amusing, if you ask me!"

The doctor let out a chuckle, it was clear that his laughter was not genuine.

After I stopped chuckling, he also ceased. He inquired, "Are you going to let me off the hook?"

I glared at him, my intense, intimidating presence making him feel small and powerless compared to me. It was obvious that I was in control.

"As if."

I plunged my arms deep into his chest, my right hand gripping his beating heart. His expression was one of shock and he uttered a small gasp, "Y-you monster."

I crushed his heart as I had my hand inside of him. All vitality drained away as I withdrew my arm from his chest. A great hole in his chest was left behind, with his blood spilling out and coating my hand.

His body slumped to the floor as his eyes shut, and he died in an instant.

*THUD*

His body made a loud thud when it hit the ground, and his blood stained the grass a deep red.

As I strolled to the summit of the mountain, I looked out at the ruined Kingdom. My long hair, wild and disheveled, flew in the breeze, yet my eyes remained devoid of emotion.

"This is just the beginning of my revenge."

"And there is also an endless amount of falsehoods and dishonesty that must be eliminated."

((SWITCHING POV))

In the northern part of Tottori, beyond a forest populated by powerful creatures and monsters, was the Kingdom of Lionheart.

The Kingdom had been shaped to resemble Japan and had been further developed by the inhabitants from another world.

A large expensive and luxurious looking mansion stood majestically atop a hill overlooking the city. The house had a grand entrance with tall white pillars and a huge wooden door. Inside was a spacious living room with a grand fireplace, a formal dining room, a music room, and a library.

Upstairs were the bedrooms, each with their own private bathrooms and balconies. Outside the mansion was a large garden with topiaries, rose bushes, and a fountain. The landscaping was impeccable and the architecture was awe-inspiring. The mansion was a sight to behold and served as a reminder of the power and wealth of its owner.

A young woman was observed sprinting through the corridors of the manor. She had bright pink hair, which were cut short, and her gaze was a mysterious dark color. She was dressed in a sophisticated black suit.

As she approached a big white door, she observed two female figures wearing silver armor and crafted from golden statues.

She opened the big door, and rushed into a large, grey-colored room that was vacant.

At the back of the room, a mysterious dark figured woman was seated on a throne made of solid gold. Her voice was powerful, low and commanding as she spoke, "Explain why you are here, Athena."

Athena bowed down on her knees, her pink hair swaying with the motion. "Sage Yae Mitsuo Sama," she cried out, her voice sounding squeaky and high pitched. "I have some terrible news!"

((In a previous life, Yae Mitsuo was the president of the student council and a classmate of Kurai's.))

The woman seated on the throne had eyes that shone brightly in a golden hue. Three curved pupils instead of one could be seen in her gaze.

"You may speak."

Athena let out gasp, then said, "We've received word that the powerful mutated humanoid who had been in the Tottori Kingdom was taken out by an unknown individual."

Mitsuo's golden eyes narrowed in confusion, "That powerful humanoid was going to be used to defeat the Demon King Shuten Doji when he would be revived in a couple of years."

Sage Mitsuo pointed to Athena and inquired, "Have we obtained any intelligence or identified any potential perpetrators of who did this?"

Athena let out a sigh and spoke sadly, "I'm sorry, but the answer is no."

Sage Mitsuo heaved herself up from her throne, standing on both feet. "Is that so?" she said inquisitively.

She rose from her seat and became visible. The young woman sage wore a long, flowing gown of deep green and a hooded cloak of midnight blue. She had a wand securely attached to her waist, and in her hands she held a book that marked 'Ancient Secrets'.

Her golden eyes with three pupils were intense and authoritative, giving her an extraordinary look. Nevertheless, she was an attractive sight to behold, as her figure was voluptuous and she had alluring physical qualities.

She walked towards Athena, her strode demonstrating class and command.

As she moved closer to Athena, she remarked, "I will be heading to Tottori to look into this myself. Send a team of messengers to alert 'Sado'."

"It seems likely that a formidable and dangerous monster will be arising."

((Sage Mitsuo is referring to Kurai when she says monster, although they do not yet know who he is.))
