Chapter 4 - Chapter 4:can you accept me? (edited)

After Jing Ning stepped out of the bathroom, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw Dr. Mu Chen's name. Surprised, she wondered, **"Why is he calling me at this hour? It's almost 10:00 PM."** She answered the phone and placed it to her ear.

"Sorry for the disturbance," came Mu Chen's voice, gentle yet urgent. "Please, can we meet tomorrow?"

"Why?" she asked, curiosity piqued.

"It's important, please. Can we meet?"

"Okay, but where and when?"

"Let's meet at noon, at the Five Star Restaurant."

"Okay, no problem. Bye."

"Bye, good night," he replied, and the call ended.

Jing Ning sat on the sofa, her mind racing. **"What does he want to tell me?"** she wondered, playing with her phone absentmindedly.

That night, Mu Chen tossed and turned, his mind consumed with thoughts of how to express what was in his heart.

The next day, Mu Chen was already waiting in a private room at the Five Star Restaurant. When the door opened, he stood up, his heart pounding.

"Have a seat," he said, his voice steady but his eyes betraying his nerves.

As she sat down, he cleared his throat and handed her the menu. "What would you like to eat?"

"Thank you, but let's go straight to the point," she replied, her gaze steady.

"Okay," he began, taking a deep breath. "Jing Ning, I don't know how you'll take this, but I have loved you since the first time you came to my office. I didn't know how to express my feelings to you. I always thought you'd reject me. I hope you won't reject me. Can you accept me?"

Jing Ning was shocked and surprised. She had loved him since the first time she saw him, but her terminal illness had kept her from expressing her feelings. She smiled sadly and said, "But you know I only have five months left in this world. I don't think there's any possibility for us."

He smiled gently, his eyes filled with determination. "I know you want to get married before you die. Didn't you want that?"

"Yes, I want to, but..." Before she could finish, he interrupted her.

"I want to marry you in the next two months, and I will try my best to find a cure for you."

She loved him too much to reject him. "Okay, I accept you."

They looked at each other, their smiles filled with hope and love, despite the uncertainty of the future.

The private room at the Five Star Restaurant exuded an air of elegance and intimacy, perfectly suited for a heartfelt conversation. Soft, ambient lighting bathed the room in a warm, golden glow, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. The walls were adorned with tasteful artwork, each piece adding a touch of sophistication to the space.

A round table, draped in a pristine white tablecloth, stood at the center of the room. It was set with fine china, crystal glasses, and polished silverware, reflecting the restaurant's attention to detail and commitment to luxury. A small vase of fresh roses graced the table, their delicate fragrance subtly perfuming the air.

Plush, high-backed chairs provided comfort and a sense of privacy, allowing guests to feel secluded from the bustling world outside. The room's decor was a harmonious blend of modern elegance and classic charm, with rich wooden accents and soft, muted tones.

A large window offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline, its twinkling lights adding a touch of magic to the evening. The gentle hum of soft jazz music played in the background, enhancing the intimate ambiance and setting the perfect mood for a meaningful exchange.

As Jing Ning and Mu Chen sat across from each other, the room seemed to cocoon them in a bubble of tranquility, allowing their emotions and words to flow freely. The ambiance of the private room was a silent witness to their unfolding story, a backdrop of beauty and grace that mirrored the depth of their feelings.

After Mu Chen's heartfelt revelation, their conversation took on a deeper, more intimate tone. The initial shock and surprise gave way to a profound connection, as they both opened up about their feelings and fears.

Jing Ning, though initially hesitant, felt a sense of relief and warmth knowing that Mu Chen shared her feelings. She confessed, "I've loved you since the first time I saw you, but I was afraid to say anything because of my illness. I didn't want to burden you with my fate."

Mu Chen reached across the table, taking her hand in his. "Your illness doesn't change how I feel about you. I want to be with you, no matter how much time we have left. We'll face this together."

They talked about their dreams and hopes, the life they wished they could have had. Jing Ning shared her fears about the future, and Mu Chen listened with empathy, offering words of comfort and reassurance. He promised to support her through every step of her journey, both as her doctor and as the man who loved her deeply.

The conversation also touched on practical matters. They discussed the upcoming wedding, how they wanted it to be a celebration of their love, no matter how short-lived. Mu Chen reassured her that he would continue to search for treatments and ways to improve her quality of life.

As they spoke, the ambiance of the private room seemed to cocoon them in a bubble of warmth and intimacy. The soft lighting, the elegant decor, and the delicate aroma of Jing Ning's chosen dish created a perfect backdrop for their heartfelt exchange.

By the end of the evening, they felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. Their love, though born in the shadow of uncertainty, was a beacon of light guiding them through the darkness. They left the restaurant hand in hand, ready to face whatever the future held, together.
