Chapter 2 - A clever way to use telekinesis

After 30 minutes, Miles had tried every conceivable method to hammer the nail. Nothing worked. Focusing telekinetic energy on the hammer would freeze it, same for the nail.

Miles looked around and looked at his phone. He had less than an hour to do something.

"Okay, think, I'm always focusing the energy on every area of the nail. What if" Miles stopped talking and placed the nail directly on the cocoon.

He channelled the colourless energy to cover the nail once more, but this time, he added a spin to it. The nail began to rotate slowly. The more energy that gathered on the nail, the faster it spinned.

Sparks of light formed on the cocoon as the area where the nail spun had disinterested into ashes. As the nail continued to spin, he added more energy in a downwards motion on the nail.

It spun and went down slowly like a drill. The body of the nail got red hot, and soon, it melted into nothingness.

Miles checked that area of the cocoon. There was a dent formed by the nail. He rushed to the top part of the church and brought out all the nails from the drawer. He also picked up a big screwdriver.

He went back to the cocoon and placed the screwdriver above the dent he had created earlier. He looked around to ensure his safety before he focused on the screwdriver.

The colourless energy surrounded the screwdriver in a downwards spin, which started off as slow but gradually increased in speed as more and more energy converged on the screwdriver.

The energy didn't stack on top of each other but rather fused with the pre-existing energy to strengthen it. The screwdriver was soon wrecked, but the hole had increased considerably.

He took one more nail and did the same thing. After the nail got red hot, it broke into the cocoon and rushed forward like a bullet.

Miles saw some lights form on top of the cocoon, a white light, orange light, and a red light.

He touched the white light, and it flew into his body. A notification popped up but was quickly closed by Miles. He touched the red light, and a nunchuck appeared in his hands. Its handles were red and looked extremely imposing. He touched the orange light, which also flew into his body.

He went back to the room on top of the church and went through the notifications.

Miles summoned his status.

"So I gain 1 attribute point for every level up, and I gained 50 attribute points from the body of the cocoon." Miles licked his lips and checked his phone.

Less than twenty minutes left, he was tempted to search for more cocoons, but outside the cemetery, there could be zombies and dangerous humans with powers.

"Right now, what I need the most is defence. I'll raise the constitution up to a hundred and then focus on other things." Miles watched as his free attribute points dropped from 100 to 9. Constitution didn't rise above 99, and a new prompt popped up.

[Evolve to tier 1 to increase attributes above the limit.]

'This damn system is purposefully withholding information until it's too late.' Miles now understood why some people in fiction always cursed the system given to them. He spread the remaining 9 points evenly.

[Strength: 11

"Now for this." Miles looked at the red nunchucks in his hand, and a prompt popped up a second later.

[Item: red nunchucks

Grade: Tier 1]

"Wow, so like this is a red nunchucks just like how it looks. And who would have guessed that it was tier 1? Well, after all, it did come from a tier 1 creature." Miles' frustration with the system grew a bit. He opened up the last prompt.

[Gained 30 skill points]

Miles closed the system and tried to recall what had happened to the nail in its final moments. It suddenly sped up after breaking the cocoon.

A nail slowly floated in front of Miles, colourless energy formed in front of it and formed a square wall. This wall made of telekinetic energy was only visible to Miles.

After the wall reached a certain strength, Miles kept strengthening it and began to gather the colourless energy towards the nails botton. It propelled the nail to go forward, but the nail was halted by the wall.

The timer went off, but his concentration remained on his little experiment. The nail had started a crack on the telekinetic wall, Miles released the energy of the wall, and the nail took off like a bullet.

BANG!

It flew through the house, broke through a gravestone before impending itself deep within the ground.

Miles turned off the timer before calling his parents. The line was busy. He didn't bother trying something useless, like calling the cops. In an apocalypse, this was just a waste of time. He set the phone to silence and tried to find a better way of using Telekinesis.

"The delay and release method takes too long," Miles thought to himself. Determined to find a better way to use his Telekinesis.

"I can form any fixed shape with it but nothing too complex." he formed a giant sphere the size of a person before condensing it to a dot. As he released the invisible telekinetic energy an air explosion occurred and nearly blew away the house.

Miles made a casing around the nail, from the outside he formed a sphere bigger than the church and compressed it to the size of a dot. He cylindrical casing around the nail had space at the back, it was completely enclosed save for some gaps he made at the back closing.

BARGH!

A weird scream came as a human with brown skin and white eyes ran into the cemetery, it spotted the cocoon and went to eat the goo present inside.

Miles realised he must have been too loud earlier, he moved the nail cannon above the monster's head, contraptions could be moved unlike when he directly imposed the telekinetic energy on the object.

The nail cannon was completely silent as it moved above the zombie's head. Miles timely released the front wall blocking the nail and the dot of compressed air in the back.

BOOM!

With a sonic boom the nail penetrated the skull of the zombie and went into the ground.

Miles checked and saw his level had gone up to level 56. He didn't have time to check the corpse as four more of those guys made their way into the cemetery.

They all rushed to the cocoon and began to eat the goo like Savage beasts.

"You can do this Miles" Miles reassures himself and brings out four nails, he forms four closed cylinders around the nails with space at the back for the compressed air ball, and also makes holes in the cover and on the backwards area.

This way the air will be more pressurised when released. He looks outside and forms four massive balls of invisible telekinetic energy. They shrink to the size of a grain as Miles moves them into the back of the container.

These nail cannons are sent to the top of the heads of the four zombies. To an outsider it would seem as though four nails were floating.

Miles timed their release together.

BOOM!!!!

Four resounding explosions went off at the same time as though from one source. Miles waited for a bit but saw no more zombies.

He rushed downstairs absorbed the lights, got a staff as a weapon and rushed upstairs. He hastily checked his status.

"That's weird, without the attribute points from levelling up, I only got 10 points from the white lights." Miles found it odd, he focused and attribute points and got a detailed summary.

[The attribute points gained increases with tier and increases when the opponent is stronger.]

This meant that the higher the gap between you and your enemy, the more attribute points you will gain. Also killing a tier 2 as a tier 1 was more rewarding than killing a tier 1 as a tier 0.

Miles put his point evenly between speed and Vitality.

Miles instantly felt lighter and stronger, he looked at the number of nails remaining before making five more nail cannons. He placed the tier 0 staff on the ground.

Miles made his way downstairs, he opened the church door. The inside was larger than the outside, rows of chairs were arranged neatly to the front and a humanoid figure seemed to be crying on the altar, it's nails scratching it and producing an unpleasant sound.

Miles aimed two nail cannons at it and fired, the nails moved as fast as bullets and penetrated the chest and the leg.

The creature screamed like a dying pig and made its way to Miles, although it was crawling, its speed was faster than a car.

Miles quickly fired a nail cannon towards the head ending the life. As he walked towards the corpse of the creature which dropped some lights, the door closed behind him making his heart skip a beat.

He approached the monster and picked up the white light and orange light. He sat on a chair and looked around the church, it was as long as a train on the inside the far end of the church stretched.

He was surprised by his attributes.

"I feel so light and strong" the sensation of getting strong was highly addictive. Miles placed his hand on his chest and calmed himself.
