Synopsis
"You are capable of doing good. I wish for you to live a life free of regret. Live strong, live happy. I do apologize that it came to this... I love you Marls." The last passage of his mother's last letter echoes in his mind. He can still envision the teardrops on the letter that is mixed with ink. Marls is a 19-year-old boy who lives a mediocre life. He lives for the sake of it, a life that is empty and has no dream. He is determined to rot to death, as all things will be. But it all changes when he gets kidnapped by a kingdom from another realm, which claims him to be the source of threat in the coming future. In there, he is given a chance. To change or not to change. His life is just beginning. An iron ingot has to go through hammer and forge in order to be a great sword. And so will be his life.

Chapter 1 - A man and a dog

There is a guy, sitting on a chair. It's a simple chair, made just right to not cover enough space, all to annoy someone who sits on it. A guy with a mundane life, imprisoned by a glass wall. He chuckles at the thought of how funny it would be if he just lived behind the bars. His face then turns sour with envy.

The sky is a hard carton, classic minimarket white light, bleeding outside to what seems to be a mushy wet asphalt. It rains an hour ago, now it smells like old perfume mixed with something that smells like poo.

Nobody is up this late. And if there is, they probably just killed a random guy on a street a minute ago. He looks at the time because he has nothing else to do. Born poor, he knows he has to endure all this, but, it is still hard to not envy the lucky ones. The door slides open, a good time to stop his devolving train of thought. Nobody was there but he could hear footsteps.

"I swear I didn't take crack tonight.." he whispers.

He looks down to find a dog walking in front of the counter, he lets out a sigh, sitting back on his chair.

"What a sad life you have mate!"

"Indeed I have"

He stares blankly at the shelf in front of him and lets out a breath. His lips frozen in an o shape, couldn't believe what he saw when he looks back down.

The same dog, but now with tuxedo set and it is standing. The dog is standing.

"Hell nah" the guy said.

The dog tips his hat.

"Glad to meet you, I am death. Here to take you through your journey in the afterlife. A pleasure to meet you sir!" A gentleman!

"N-nice to meet you.. (?)" He stutters.

"Simply do not be afraid. I come in the form of something that deep down you love."

"Apparently it's a dog." The dog continues.

"But I'm not dead yet! Where is my body?"

"Very good question Mr. Marls! Just come with me."

"N-no why would I?" He backs down.

The dog lets out a long sigh.

"We both know that late shift is hard so let's just proceed shall we?" The dog whips his tail and it immediately propels the guy forward, bumping into the counter and messing up with the monitors and some drinks.

The dog takes its short hands and swings out a tiny baton stick, which from it comes a wave of music for a short time, opening to what seems to be a very bright hole in the ground that feels warm like sunlight.

The dog hops through the hole pulling Marls in, a second before the hole closes. Marls' gut rumbles upon entering the hole. It feels as if his weight shifts drastically, like the moment you fall from a tall structure. Marls closes his eyes as an instinct while holding his mouth to not puke, but a loud explosion appears to shock him out of his body. His eyes are forced to see a fist doubling his size that is made out of molten rocks right in front of him. The dust particles fly from the ground after the impact splooshes over the side while it joins with the lava that is flowing.

"Holy shit dog! Where are we?!"

"You almost got killed and your first instinct is curiosity?"

VWHIP!

The dog swings its baton to immediately pull Marls away to a safe place, while the dog's other hand forms a hand gesture, its thumb and middle finger touched together, but every time it doesn't, a big directed explosion that looks like a cone hits the rocky creature. It doesn't seem to affect the rocks much except pushing it back greatly with some repelling particles of rocks.

"He makes it tougher it seems!"

The dog changes its hand gesture. Its fingers form a posture as if it is holding an invisible wand. At first, the dog loosely "grips" the wand, and an explosion comes out from it, but it still forms a cone just like before, directed at the creature. But as the dog tightens its grip, the cone starts to become thinner and thinner, and essentially it starts to form a tunnel as thin as a needle. The explosions become much more frequent, each time reducing the interval greatly. What is left now is a ray of light, which cuts the rocks down to pieces.

"Where is your master?" the dog says.

Before the dog finishes its word, it clenches its fist and takes out the remnants of the rock, which is only the rocky body with shining cracks that contain the heart and the head.

"Forgive me for my blatant question. Your own body will tell us soon." The dog continues.

"NO" a hoarse voice comes from the rock, as it gradually shines brighter, and brighter, and brighter than before, until the brightness grows exponentially.

The dog's eye widens in surprise, its pupil shrinks in response to the amount of light received.

"You twat!" The dog grunts, drops its wand, simultaneously drops Marls, and with its two hands clamping together, the dog directs it to the creature. A burst of sound like a jet going supersonic comes from the creature. When the brightness dims and the eye adjusts, what is left now is a dense sphere of rocks, floating mid-air.

Marls could hear the sound of heavy breathing coming from the dog. The dog is exhausted from whatever magic battle that happened between the two sides. Marls looks at the dog worried.

"Dog! You okay?" He yells.

The dog turns to him.

"I'm sorry young sir but I have to ask this, can you walk?"

Marls softly nods, "yea!"

"Then please, let's continue."
