Max regained his senses and immediately felt a wave of comfort flood his spirituality. It was indeed effective! And it had brought him a considerable amount of digestion. In fact, if he kept this up, he most certainly would be able to fully digest the potion in just 10 more Divination clubs. And based on his understanding, there would be 12 more before Klein died.
Plus, Ms. Justice would also soon become a Beyonder, and his feedback from the potion when influencing them would most definitely result in faster digestion since the number of Beyonders he could freely influence changed from 2 to three. Plus, Alger would also most likely advance to Seafarer at Sequence 7 soon enough, which should in theory speed it up even more.
However, now was not the time for this. Instead, Max quickly put on his clothes. This time, he wore his formal white clothes, and top hat, and left his hotel, heading straight for the Entwine Café.
Sneaking in through the backdoor, Max picked up one item before heading out, and straight for the district with Welch's house, where the late Welch McGovern and Naya had committed suicide.
However, he halted in his steps as he recalled something. Although Klein did indeed come into contact with the Divination Club today, he only got a divination for himself and did not join it due to the hefty joining fee. It was only later that he joined it after he got permission to claim money from the Nighthawks.
'How could I forget something like this!' Max exclaimed. However, he quickly made up his mind and continued his footsteps. He would still need an excuse to make a newly joined member like Klein take his divination.
If he were to have already visited multiple times and gotten most of the formal members to do a divination for him… and then kept coming back to ask if new members had joined…
'This will work… but it will cost money… something I seem to have enough of…' Max chuckled internally as he slowed down his steps to avoid Max and ensure they do not meet until he could do his divination to avoid scaring away the over-cautious lad.
Gradually he made his way to the building where the Divination club was, and after scanning around and not finding Klein anywhere, he entered the building. Luckily, Klein had already passed by and got his own divination done while Max had entered Café Entwine and walked rather leisurely all the way here instead of taking a carriage.
As soon as Max entered, a woman with coiled brown hair sized him up before speaking with a genuine smile.
"Sir, do you wish for your fortune to be told, or do you wish to join our club?"
"I want my fortune to be told," Max replied with a smile of his own.
"Well, it is a Monday afternoon, so most of our members are busy at work. We only have five members here today."
As she introduced the people, she pulled out an album with photographs and names along with brief descriptions on it, while motioning Max to settle down on one of the sofas.
Max kept his smile before nodding.
"I'll take them all, one at a time of course. Starting with the most expensive and working my way down."
The woman froze for a second before nodding with a sweet smile as she stood up and beckoned Max to follow her. They walked by a corridor leading to an open meeting room that had tables, newspapers, magazines, paper cards, and coffee, everything one needed for a relaxing afternoon.
The receptionist sped up a bit and entered the room before shouting.
"Mr. Hanaas Vincent, someone wishes for your divination."
"Hmm? Sure, I'll be taking my room." The voice said as the receptionist just nodded and stepped backwards.
Max saw a middle-aged man with rather obvious dark circles stepping through the door. His brown hair was thick and hard. Each strand stood firmly like a porcupine's spikes. Apart from that, there was nothing unique about him.
This was the Hanaas Vincent who had set everything in motion after all, starting all the way back to selling the Antigonus notebook to Welch McGovern.
Max just put on a smile as he nodded and had the man divine his past, present and future using the tarot cards.
Surprisingly, the way she interpreted the cards was indeed similar to the actual situation, but nothing too extreme. In the past he got the wheel of fortune signifying a drastic change in fate and destiny. For the present, he got a chariot, signifying moving on from the past and feeling motivated. For the future he got the Fool, meaning embracing new beginnings, expanding one's horizons, and the willingness to take risks guided by intuition.
After paying the four Soli for the divination, Max exited the room and saw that the receptionist was waiting there with a smile. Mr. Hanaas Vincent just slipped something to her before heading back to the room he was originally in. Meanwhile, the Receptionist's smile grew as she asked.
"Should I bring the next member?"
"Sure."
Max shrugged. After all, he was only doing this as a formality to have an excuse to ask for new members. After all, he did not know of a seer who would help him find the old man without trying to take advantage of him in some way, selling his information to others, or just directly interfering with him by killing him.
After finishing his divination with all 5 members, Max left with a frown on his face, acting as though he was not satisfied. He turned to the receptionist just before leaving and said.
"I will be back. Hopefully, there are others by that time."
