Chapter 30 - Chapter 29: Protagonist (3)

'I hope I'm not too late. Dean must have gone to the guild branch in Senova Empire first and left Yoon Dalmi to his men!'

Arthur ran outside Britney Main Street. Earlier, he was greeted by several knights. Some nobles did talk about Arthur not running out immediately when the incident happened. But that was only a few.

He ran to find a guild that could rent out mages there. He even intended to walk around Heonith City. Arthur couldn't ask Kalypt to give him a magic scroll because that person was helping people inside. Therefore, he looked for a mage instead.

As he turned opposite the Forest Green Inn, he came across a weapon shop. He went in without a second thought, even though his clothes were a mess.

Inside, an old man wearing glasses was reading a newspaper. He greeted Arthur who entered. "Mr. customer, welcome."

"Do you know where mages can be hired to teleport? I heard that many of them can be found at the weapon shop." Arthur hurriedly went straight to the shop owner.

The old man replied, "There happens to be a mage who just had a transaction with us. He is in the weapons manufacturing room. Please follow me."

He kindly led Arthur to the room in question, the door of which was next to a display case containing swords. There was someone selecting an unfinished staff.

"You!" Arthur looked at the mage's face.

It was the mage that Duke Rudolf had hired on their way to Heonith City. Arthur felt he was very lucky to see her.

"Young Duke-nim? W-what are you looking for here? Isn't there supposed to be an event?" That mage was surprised.

Arthur ignored that woman's surprise. "Hey, take me to the Senova Empire now!"

The old man immediately forbade Arthur. "Mr. customer, you can't go into the tiger's den alone!"

The mage also joined in supporting him. "That's right, Young Duke-nim. I heard that you even work hard just for your household. Don't even get me started on the country's politics. Don't be too kind, Young Duke-nim!"

'Damn, this is so troublesome. They want me to stuff their mouths.'

Arthur shook his head, removing the negative thoughts from his mind. He reached into the inner pocket of his suit, pulled out a small bag of coins and threw it at the mage.

Grab!

"That's 20 gold coins. Just take me to their main market where many guilds stand. Hurry up!" Arthur continued to force the mage.

"This is more than enough—okay! Sir, please get me another floor pen to draw a magic circle here." The mage asked the old man who are shopkeeper to find what she wanted.

Several pieces of furniture that were blocking the floor were easily removed by the mage. After the shopkeeper got the pen she wanted, she immediately drew on the floor.

Arthur looked outside from the nearest window, it was already late afternoon. He should have hurried earlier.

The mage had finished drawing and asked Arthur to enter the magic circle. After saying goodbye to the shopkeeper, he cast a spell and then they both disappeared from there.

Arthur searched for Dean's guild branch in the main market. It was very difficult because it was crowded with ordinary people. His clothes were very conspicuous because they seemed luxurious.

Occasionally someone would bump into him. Pickpocketing was notoriously high there, but Arthur didn't take anything else with him as he left it with the mage who turned out to be Milly's sister.

A small boy in a beret approached him. "Sir, what are you looking for?"

"Do you know where K-Night Merchant is?" Arthur knew the name of Dean's guild branch there. He only remembered some of what he had recorded.

The little boy nodded. "I can lead you there, but there's a fee."

'Damn, a kid trained in blackmail. I don't have any money left.'

Arthur looked at his hand, the ring his father had given him was still there. However, a second later he picked up the button on his sleeve. It was also a gem that could be sold.

He gave it to the little boy. "This is a real gem, you can sell it. Now take me there!"

The little boy told Arthur to follow him. He walked to a street that was bigger than the streets there. There was a tall building that seemed to be bustling with people going in and out.

The boy pointed to the building. "That's a building rented by several guilds. The first floor is the guild you're looking for."

Before he could say anything, the little boy had already run away. Arthur cursed inwardly for not thinking whether he would be tricked or not at that moment. However, since the building was rented by several guilds, he would definitely be able to find information about Dean's guild.

The door of the building never closed. So he stepped right in without any prompting.

There was a receptionist on the first floor. The place contained items that were neatly arranged as if they were going to be bartered by the incoming hunters. There were even some monster carcasses arranged.

"Hey, do you know where the branch is—"

"What are you doing here?"

Arthur looked back and there was the person he was looking for. Dean, who was followed by Leon, slowly walked up to him. That man seemed to show a confused expression before returning to his usual flat face.

'Ah, damn it, this is what I expected.'

Arthur cursed inwardly. He immediately asked, "Why did you release that demon race?"

Dean frowned. "No, I didn't. My team brought it to the headquarters when I picked up Leon. Then ...."

That tall man showed his hand, there was a unique bracelet with thorn-like tendrils surrounding his wrist. He showed it off to Arthur.

"This bracelet will glow red if the other side comes into contact with a force that is the opposite of the holy power. I have put it on my men to keep them in contact with me today. This bracelet did not light up at all near that woman. It seems the summoning ritual cannot touch the world of demon. Perhaps it only attracts people from other worlds who are like us."

Dean explained easily. However, Arthur still asked again. "Did you leave it with them while the woman was still unconscious?"

"Yes, I adjusted it. Today I brought approximately 90 members and there were 10 people who brought that woman. Don't worry, she's not a demon race." Dean replied.

Leon, who had been silent, opened his mouth. "L-Leader-nim, I asked Kalypt, Cindy and Count Rubel to come to our base. I-I already invited them through a magic telegraph to Kalypt."

Dean stroked Leon's head gently. He told Arthur and Leon to sit around there for a while before leaving again.

Ting!

'What the fuck? They say if you're a character you can read other characters? Why is there character equality?'

Obviously Arthur was grumbling because he thought the system would free him from restrictions, but it was actually making it difficult for him. In that case, he shouldn't be a character. Even though it was correct because he didn't cheat.

Inwardly, Arthur grumbled loudly. Until finally he felt that someone was watching him. He didn't know who, but he felt as close and as distant as the system.

The question mark above Dean's head also disappeared. Arthur hadn't checked the contents yet. He walked closer to the man before finally ....

Ting! Ting! Ting!

The bell rang from Dean's direction. His creepy bracelet had a small bell between the tendrils. It rang a few times disturbing them before finally falling silent.

Arthur asked, "What does it mean?"

Dean examined the bracelet and immediately took it off, then he ordered Leon. "Go upstairs, quickly get the levitation magic scroll for 30 minutes."

Leon stammered, "W-what happen, Leader-nim?"

"Ten."

Arthur didn't understand Dean's meaning. "What do you mean by ten?"

"Ten, it's the number of teams I left and the total of the bell ringing."

Arthur immediately widened his eyes at that. "They were attacked? Damn it, Leon hurry up and go upstairs!"

Leon immediately ran upstairs when he saw his leader's face. Dean's face looked cloudy. His eyes were flashing vertically like a predator. Arthur could feel the anger coming out of Dean.

When he had successfully carried the magic scroll, Dean turned into a half-beast and said, "Follow me!"

Leon tore the scroll and immediately followed Dean, Arthur followed. They exited the building. Dean, who had changed, ignored the stares of the people outside.

After only a few steps of running, Arthur felt his body getting lighter, then he saw Leon who looked relaxed with his legs half floating. Sure enough, they used levitation magic to lighten their load and speed up their journey.

Although it was only 30 minutes, it seemed like a long time to them. Dean had to be prepared for what made his ten subordinates attacked.

Until they finally reached the forest. Dean stopped his running with a gasp. He was followed by Leon and Arthur who finally stopped as well.

There, a woman stood upright with a bloody hand. She stared at the ten men who seemed to have been attackd by her. Dean, who saw that, was immediately ignited.

"What are you doing?!"
