I stood in silence as crew members and security personnel ran behind me with urgency, the entrance to the hanger cracked open with bright lights poring into the dark corridor where I stood as my armour reflected the unrelenting light. Immediately I saw Rylanor talking with the Admiral, I began to approach them catching the eyes of many of the servicemen and women who worked till their hands were blistered and sore but then some began to kneel as I made my way towards Rylanor and the Admiral.
During my spare time when I wasn't catching up on what I had missed over the years I polished and cleaned the armour that I wore into battle, then into a blaze of glory and then made my way through the gaping maw of hell itself, then to top it off a planet that was nothing but the deathly echo's of a world that had life but was snuffed out of the Emperors grasp, now I was happy to see the white of the Luna Wolves again instead of dirt and blood.
Looking upon my armour you can see the ornate wolves that decorated it symbolising some of my achievements and some of the Legion's victories, now I was but a few metres away from them, before,!ALARM! " anit-air guns are targeting the fleet from the surface, battle stations I repeat battle stations!" now I am starting to guess what the message that was sent was concerning, I looked towards Fiora Betatar, " Admiral I am guessing the message that the Governor sent was relating to a strike against Port Maw and the surrounding fleet that is stationed here and any would be relation?" Fiora Betatar now finished confirming the impending attack from her second in command, " Yes my lord you have guessed right, our situation is dire, we cannot lose Port Maw at any cost even at the sacrifice of our lives, it must stand! but sadly we can't target the gun emplacements with our main guns or we risk destroying the Hive city." Rylanor, the silent strategist, then looked at me and began to speak, " I have fought against the enemies of the Emperor more than anyone alive but what are your orders? Chapter Master" I acknowledge his words with a slight bow, thank you Rylanor, you don't know what that means to me, I said close to my heart.
" May I suggest a ground assault, backed up with heavy ordnance but before we get anywhere near this point, a surgical strike force goes in and takes out a few of the emplacements before unloading the main force." As I was talking an officer brought out a Hololithic device that shows a map of where the emplacements are, then I started to point at specific emplacements which I deemed priority targets, and then we will establish a beachhead so that we could reinforce our need positions on the ground.
I went into more detail with the Fiora Betatar on my plan, then began to talk with other officers around her, she turned back to me, " A sound plan my lord, I take it that you and your battle brother are to be a part of this surgical strike? In that case, I can send three Valkyries and five squads of guardsmen. Would this be enough?" I listened to what she said, I stared into her eyes through my helm and to think anyone would ask a Space Marine, a soldier who has fought the enemies of the Emperor probably longer than many who have been alive and have had the honour to look upon the Emperor in glorious battle during the Ullanor crusade, I felt anger by her question I looked to Rylanor who was always a hard person to read but this very moment a blind man could read the writing on the wall he was enraged by the very same question, stepping forward just a little but enough he started to spark his Heavy Flammer, I need to stop this before it escalates.
I walked forward with every step like thunder, only but a breath away, "As I said before Admiral we will help you until we find a way to get to our objective, however, if we ever meet again Admiral and for that matter never question if a Space Marine will fight because I know for a fact that even if we die, we will reject death herself to continue fighting for the Emperor until he tells us otherwise.
Walking away towards the Thunderhawk, Rylanor followed close behind, I started lowering the ramp of the Thunderhawk and I looked back at Fiora Betatar only able to see her back walking towards the exit of the hanger, " Admiral!" I shouted making her stop and face me with a neutral expression, " Admiral we will take two squads and if needed another... We are grateful for your hospitality and will not forget. When we return you will not only see us again but you will also see one of the largest forces of this age, mark my words Admiral we will win this war no matter the cost.
I and Rylanor waited for the guardsmen to come aboard but what we didn't expect was a tech-priest with a couple of servitors in tow, he was told to make sure that Rylanor doesn't get damaged or killed and to do anything at all costs to make sure he survives, but I was sent a private message by the tech-priest who cares for the Spear of War and all it said was "protect this child of the Mechanicum, he's the student of a friend, he will aide you in your quest for I sense a new dawn in the Imperiums future farewell Chapter Master of the Luna Wolves,-----End of Transmission-----" I appreciate anyone who wants to help a comrade of mine and trusts me with the safety of someone close but I wonder who this "friend" is, an hour later I talked to the lieutenant who would help lead these squads of guardsmen, he seemed competent enough.
A loud mechanical voice appeared suddenly and spoke plainly, " Main doors... opening, may the Omnissiah protect you." that was our cue to take off, may the Emperor protect us all. Engines explode into life, taking us into barren space, then onto our target Hive City Malora. 30 minutes into our flight, I could see the hive city, its structure and size all monuments to the Emperor's vision but like any tool or creation, if not maintained... it decays, which became more apparent as we approached now only but a few Kilometres away, I am starting to think these idiots didn't think to prepare for a air...! Alarm!Alarm!Alarm! I immediately choked on my words and shouted, " Target lock! Missile inbound, hold on tight!" I signalled the Valkeryies to seek cover or move out of range and find another way to our objectives, I saw three missiles were fired, I did my best shaking off two of them with countermeasures but one tore most of the wing off I had only just been able to "Safely" land us on a terrace that connected to a courtyard. I came to, only out for a minute at most and thought that any controlled landing you could come away from was a good one but now I am pistoff that some little shit blow up my ship.
I went back to check anyone if anyone came out alive or mostly intact, but the first thing I saw was Rylanor facing the ramp of the Thunderhawk, slowly approaching him, not making any loud noises, I quietly asked, " What is it?" his reply spoke volumes but was filled with the opportunity for vengeance! " Enemies..." as his assault cannon spun with fury and metal.
