Chapter 18 - Join my team and serve me

"Ah?" Lynn reacted to Clark's words, relieved that he had turned away and couldn't see her discomfort clearly.

"N-no," Lynn carefully examined Clark's smooth, inverted-triangle-shaped back but found nothing unusual.

Clark furrowed his brow slightly upon hearing her answer. How could there be nothing? After his rebirth, his willpower, even before awakening, had reached an astonishing 12 points, which could be considered a standard for mutants.

Did this mean he wasn't a mutant? Or were the patterns somewhere else on his body? With a series of questions in his mind, Clark was puzzled and furrowed his brow slightly. After a moment of hesitation, he abandoned the idea of taking off his pants.

Clark's curiosity about whether he was a mutant was also a passing thought. If he wasn't, it wouldn't be a big deal. After all, being a mutant didn't provide much help to his own abilities and could easily attract unwanted attention. He decided to leave it for another time when he was alone.

Putting his shirt back on, Clark turned around and looked directly at Lynn.

"No more words. I won't beat around the bush. Join my team and serve me."

Lynn blinked in surprise, and their eyes met. Clark's gaze was calm but imposing.

Serve him? Lynn hesitated. She didn't mind joining Clark's team; he hadn't harmed her when he had the chance. Besides, she had witnessed his strength.

After the apocalypse had begun, anyone with a bit of intelligence had realized that this world might not be the same as before. As an ordinary girl, she knew she couldn't make it on her own, even just on this road. However, the term "serve" implied many things.

"What does 'serve' mean? Or what do you want me to do?" Lynn lowered her head, clasping her hands in front of her, feeling a chill without her shirt.

"Obey all my commands," Clark replied succinctly, disliking beating around the bush.

"Everything? Do I have to obey you in everything?" Lynn remained silent for a moment, then asked cautiously. Until she got Clark's approval, she didn't dare put her shirt back on. Beneath her shyness as a young girl, she could only barely shield her snow-white figure.

"Yes," Clark replied without caring much about the details. He glanced at his watch, appearing somewhat impatient.

"Can I refuse?" Lynn raised her head after hesitating for a while. Anything, didn't that mean surrendering everything into his control, even her life?

"You can refuse. But you will die," Clark openly released his killing intent. He had saved Lynn purely because she could be beneficial to him. However, if she didn't cooperate, a disobedient mutant should be eliminated.

Mutants needed to fight alongside him in battles, and he would not tolerate any rebellion. As for whether Lynn would pretend to agree and deceive him, he had his own methods to deal with it after she agreed. If Lynn refused, he wouldn't let a mutant remain out of his control.

In the post-apocalyptic game, players not only had to struggle against zombies ,but players could also become enemies to each other at any time.

Lynn felt Clark's increasingly intense killing intent and sighed inwardly. She could sense that if she didn't agree, her head would be lying on the ground in pieces. Knowing this, she didn't play the role of a young girl. She knew what to do to survive.

Furthermore, Clark had saved her life, and aside from being a bit cold and ruthless, he didn't seem to have any other issues.

"I agree. Can you tell me now why you want me to join?" Lynn bit her lip and pleaded, "Can I put my clothes on first?"

Clark remained silent, nodded, and turned away. Although Lynn had a great figure, he had no interest in such matters right now.

A moment later, Lynn was dressed. However, when she looked at her previously shoulder-length hair, now cut unevenly as if it had been chewed on by a dog, she couldn't help but give a bitter smile.

Clark glanced at her and then led the way ahead.

"Follow me. In the future, don't keep your hair so long. Long hair will only hinder your performance in combat."

Lynn pursed her lips but didn't dare to reply. She silently tied her hair back.

Clark's pace was fast, and Lynn had to jog to keep up. He was such a cold-hearted man; she wondered what he had been through.

Clark, walking ahead, didn't pay any attention to Lynn's slight moodiness. He was focused on the holographic screen that had suddenly appeared in his mind just as Lynn had agreed to join.
