Chapter 3 - Virus and Medicine

For now, before the apocalypse broke out, money was still the best way to pave the road. After nodding goodbye, Clark headed straight for the pharmaceutical company where he worked.

As he walked out, the two lenders creditor  wore strange expressions, unable to resist whispering to each other.

"Boss, I checked this guy's information. He even mortgaged his house. He's paying 70% interest in three days. That's pretty ruthless."

"Who cares? He probably got obsessed with gambling and lost his mind. If he doesn't pay in three days, we'll take his house."

In the pharmaceutical company, Clark walked into the building's entrance and casually tossed out his work badge, responsible for escorting and security.

The old man in charge of the entrance hadn't had a chance to see who he was when the work badge fell to the ground slowly.

"Name: Clark"

"Gender: Male"

"Age: 24 years"

"Position: Special Medication Escort Personnel"

Ding! The elevator opened. Clark went straight to the third floor and swiped his card to enter the laboratory. It was a holiday and lunch break, so there was only one intern left in the lab.

"Clark?" The intern, who was a year younger than him, looked at Clark in surprise. He had sleepy eyes and hair that resembled a chicken's nest.

Clark locked the laboratory door behind him without wasting any words, making sure the intern couldn't escape. He got straight to the point.

"Where are the extracts of the giant lizard and the purified snake venom?"

"Clark, there's no medication delivery task today. What are you doing ?"

The intern looked puzzled and a little uneasy.

The names Clark mentioned were all high-value medications that required reporting, and each vial was expensive.

"There are things you shouldn't know," Clark said in a cold voice, almost like a warning.

The intern seemed to realize something, and the coldness and impatience in Clark's eyes made him feel afraid for a moment.

After struggling for a while, he said, "Clark... I really can't."

Clark glanced at the wall clock. He didn't have time to waste. As a crucial part of the plan, he needed these two types of medication.

Clark shook the bundles of cash from his backpack and said, "There are 700,000 dollars here. Even if I buy them, it's just a matter of registration. The company won't do anything to you."

The intern stared at the money scattered on the floor, feeling unsure. 700,000  dollars, roughly the same price as the company sells them for.

Clark wasn't planning to waste any more time talking. He barged into the lab, pressed for time, and didn't have the luxury of hesitation. Although he could have taken the drugs without paying a cent, he decided to pay. He knew the value of money would diminish after three days, and besides, he knew this guy.

Behind him, the intern hesitated for a moment and wanted to say something to stop him. However, thinking of Clark's cold and fierce gaze and the piles of cash on the floor, he couldn't help but reassure himself:Well, Clark paid for them, and it's not too much of a violation.

Clark forcefully opened all the refrigerators in the lab. After a brief search, he held up a test tube under the overhead light. He stared at the two bottles of deep blue liquid with fascination.

"Giant lizard extract: Extracted essence from the blood of the North American Giant lizard, greatly enhances strength in a short period of time."

"Snake Venom Purification Essence: Stimulates the heart and lungs to forcibly increase explosive power and endurance."

As special drugs, these two substances had outstanding effects, but their side effects were also significant. However, Clark didn't care. As long as they could awaken his abilities, his body would return to a perfect state after awakening, regenerating severed limbs, and eliminating diseases.

Every awakened person would become a perfect warrior. Furthermore, their physical attributes would be enhanced. With a strong desire for the power he had in his previous life, Clark filled the gaps in his backpack with 30 vials of these drugs.

After the apocalypse, these drugs would stop being produced. One vial less meant one less opportunity to unleash explosive power, stamina, pain tolerance, and focus.

In the early stages of the apocalypse, a single vial of these drugs could reverse the entire situation. With these drugs in hand, his grasp of the plan increased by several points.

Clark walked out of the lab, satisfied with his haul.seeing The intern, who had hastily stashed the money,  with a hint of fear,Clark said:"Keep it a secret for three days. After that, you can tell anyone you want,"

Clark left the lab.As the elevator descended, Clark calculated carefully what supplies he needed to purchase. Food, high-calorie canned goods were essential. He also needed plenty of portable chocolates and energy bars.

With the immense strength of an awakened person, energy consumption was far greater than that of an average person. Water, a batch of bottled water should be enough, but he could add some glucose to it. Weapons, crossbows were unnecessary. With awakened abilities, long-range attack methods like these were garbage. As for firearms, they were difficult to obtain, and they would take up too much time. He gave up on them.

Combat suits could be acquired in greater numbers. In high-intensity battles, clothing was easily damaged. Explosive shields and bulletproof vests were of no use. They would only hinder agility. Weapons-wise, cold weapons were a good choice. He could get some alloy weapons, ensuring that he wouldn't be left empty-handed due to a broken blade.

"Beep, you have arrived on the first floor," the elevator announced.

Clark stepped out of the elevator and began to study the map on his phone carefully. His eyes burned with excitement.

"If I'm not mistaken, there should be a crucial piece of equipment that can aid awakening right here!"

Market 97, FM Road, LJ City. Clark walked through the empty streets and suddenly accelerated, forcefully kicking the door of a shop at the street corner. With a loud crash, the sturdy steel door was kicked open, leaving a gap half a person's height.

As an entertainment street in LJ City, there was almost no activity here during the day. However, at night, when the bars and nightclubs opened, it would be bustling with people. Without any hesitation, Clark easily kicked open the symbolic iron door. As a tea house for gambling transactions at night, the person in charge didn't even bother to close the inner door. After all, this was a gathering place for many underworld forces, and no one dared to steal from here.

"Who the hell is kicking the door? Are you bored of living?" Inside the tea house, a middle-aged man with tattoos covering his arms cursed while running towards the entrance, puffing on a cigarette. His flip-flops clapped on the floor as he hurried over.
