Chapter 1 - 1. Love's First Glance

Rishabh POV:

Do I believe in love at first sight? Well, I didn't until I saw her. She was sitting in the corner, enjoying her pav bhaji with grace, making sure not a speck fell on her dress. Her face had this amazing charm with all those Indian features. But what caught everyone's eyes were her captivating cat-like eyes. They were something else, framed by beautifully arched eyebrows that highlighted their shape. Those eyes were a deep shade of brown, full of emotions that seemed to say a lot. She wore a lovely blue lehenga , and her makeup was minimal, with her hair flowing down to her hips. Unlike the other girls with heavy jewelry and makeup, she had this simple but captivating charm that just pulled you in.

Suddenly, my brother Ansh shouted, "MR. RISHABH SINGH!!" and it was like a bucket of cold water. "What's up, bro? Why are you yelling?" I asked, rubbing my ears.

"I've been calling you for ages, and you were off in la-la land. Had to yell," he replied, looking pretty annoyed.

"Oh, got it. Why were you calling, though?"

"It's time to take our sister to the stage, remember? Her engagement?!" he said, a bit sarcastic.

"Right, right. Let's go, then."

But before I left, I stole one more glance at her as she left with the person she'd been chatting with. She was new, probably from the groom's side. Hope she wasn't my some distant relative. I promised myself to find out more later. For now, my job was to get my sister to the stage before she lost her cool.

"Finally, Mr. Rishabh Singh decides to show up. Let's give him a hand, folks," joked Shrishti, my sister and the stunning bride, making everyone laugh.

"The engagement was already late, and now you're adding to it with your grand entrance. Do you even realize how heavy this dress and jewelry are? And here you are, strolling around," she teased, a bit irritated.

"My bad, Di. I wasn't strolling. Mom asked me to welcome some guests, so that's why I got delayed. Now, Let's not keep Jiju waiting any longer, or he might come hunting for you," I teased back, getting my sister to blush and everyone to laugh.

When we reached the stage, I saw her again. She was up there, next to the groom, holding a plate in her hand which probably had the engagement rings, talking to him. And she smiled, a smile that was new and inviting. That's when it happened - I felt something special. Amid the engagement chaos, her smile warmed up the place. The curve of her lips showed a quiet happiness, the joy of the occasion. For me, though, it was more than that. Her smile was like a masterpiece, capturing my attention and making me feel like I was witnessing a rare and magical moment that I wished would never end.

The engagement venue sits in the heart of the city, welcoming guests with a touch of elegance. Inside, the hall is a blend of rich gold and cream colors, giving off a royal vibe. Sparkling chandeliers light up the room, making the patterned carpet shine. The walls showcase colorful stories from old times, adding to the magical atmosphere.

At one end, a fancy stage awaits the bride and groom, draped in beautiful blue and silver curtains. The stage is like a symbol of their coming together. Soft music plays in the background, mixing with the happy chatter of guests. Round tables with pretty flower arrangements are where everyone sits. The place is a mix of modern luxury and tradition, where love and celebrations come together in a special way. But amidst all this, my eyes are still on those captivating dark brown cat eyes that left a mark on my heart.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The engagement has come to an end, and most of the guests have retired to their rooms. Only a few family members remain in the hall, overseeing the cleanup. Throughout the engagement, my eyes were on her. I learned that she's Jiju's cousin, and her name is Pragya - a beautiful name, isn't it? I caught her noticing me staring at her, but I quickly averted my gaze, pretending to look elsewhere.

Truth be told, I haven't spoken to her yet. I can't seem to muster the courage to strike up a conversation. It's strange because I've always been the laid-back guy who easily makes friends. But when it comes to talking to her, I feel an unfamiliar nervousness creeping in. This is new for me; I've never experienced this before.

Luckily, I have four days left before the wedding, so there's time. I've decided I'll talk to her tomorrow during the Sangeet. I hope my nerves won't get the best of me then.
